We’re now well into the second half of the 2022-23 NBA season. The trade deadline has passed, and the All-Star break is this weekend, meaning there’s very few games this week. That said, there’s still plenty of games with big implications in the standings for both the Eastern and Western Conferences. While we don’t have the exact against-the-spread (ATS) figures, let’s dive into some of this week’s NBA Betting games and look at teams’ ATS records to see where the value is.
Top Week 18 Betting Matchups and Picks for this Week | Second Half of the 2022-23 NBA Season
San Antonio Spurs at Cleveland Cavaliers
When: Monday, February 13th, 2023
Where: Rocket Mortagage Fieldhouse
Time: 7:00 PM ET
TV: NBA TV / fuboTV
Cleveland is on a six-game winning streak and looks to be making a charge toward the top of the Eastern Conference. The Cavs are just 3.5 games back of the Milwaukee Bucks for second place in the East. San Antonio, meanwhile, has been one of the worst teams in the league this season and are just 5-22 on the road.
The Cavs are one of the best teams in the league ATS with a total record of 32-25-2. They’re even better at home with a 20-9-1 ATS record. San Antonio, meanwhile, is 23-34 ATS despite being the underdog on most nights. The number should be high for this game, but don’t hesitate to take the Cavs.
Denver Nuggets at Miami Heat
When: Monday, February 13th, 2023
Where: FTX Arena
Time: 7:30 PM ET
TV: NBA TV / fuboTV
Miami had championship aspirations this season, yet here we are in February, and they’re in sixth in the East and had even considered trading off veterans like Kyle Lowry before the deadline. The Heat have the worst ATS record in the league at 21-33-3, and they’re 8-18-2 at home. That’s reason enough to not trust the Heat in this game.
Denver, meanwhile, is a decent 30-26-1 ATS, but just 11-16 on the road. Still, the Nuggets are the best team in the West and seem to be getting better with Jamal Murray returning to form. He’s scored at least 30 in each of his last three games, including 41 against the Atlanta Hawks on February 4. Take the Nuggets on the spread here.
Boston Celtics vs. Milwaukee Bucks
When: Tuesday, February 14th, 2023
Where: Fiserv Forum
Time: 7:30 PM ET
TV: TNT
This is clearly the matchup of the week as the top two seeds in the East battle for conference supremacy in Milwaukee. The Bucks are just one game back of the Celtics for first place. Milwaukee is 31-23-2 ATS this season (fifth-best in the league) and 18-10 at home. The Celtics, meanwhile, are 29-26-1 ATS and 13-13-1 on the road.
This is a tough one. I would expect the Bucks to be the favorites, perhaps at 2.5 or 3.5 points, but it’ll be a tight game. Going back to last season, the last five games between these teams have been decided by seven points or fewer. Take the Celtics ATS.
Los Angeles Clippers vs. Phoenix Suns
When: Thursday, February 16th, 2023
Where: Footprint Center
Time: 10:00 PM ET
TV: TNT
The last game of the week before the All-Star break is another marquee matchup. The Suns only play once before Thursday, so this could be Kevin Durant’s first game with his new team. The fact he could be going up against Kawhi Leonard (assuming he decides to play) makes it all the more intriguing.
Although it hasn’t gone exactly as expected for the Suns this season, they’re still 31-27 ATS, including 16-12 at home. The Clippers, meanwhile, are just 29-30 ATS, but surprisingly 17-15 on the road. Both teams will be looking to make a statement before the ASG, but rest could also come into play. Los Angeles is 10-17 without Leonard this season. They won’t cover if he doesn’t play, so take the Suns here.
