Series History

First meeting this season between the teams. Chicago is 1-9 in its last 10 games versus Golden State but did win the final matchup last year (at home). The Bulls are looking for back-to-back wins over the Warriors for the first time since the 2012-13 season. Nikola Vučević matched a career-high 43 points in his last matchup versus Golden State. He is averaging 27.2 ppg, 12.6 rpg and 5.2 apg in his last five games against the Warriors DeMar DeRozan has tallied at least five assists in five-straight games versus the Warriors, averaging 7.0 apg during this stretch.

Why Bet on Golden State Warriors?

Golden State just isn’t a very good team any longer at 17-20 following an embarrassing 141-105 home loss to New Orleans on Wednesday, the team’s sixth loss in eight games. The Pelicans opened the game with a 15-4 run and outscored the Warriors, 46-27, in the first quarter, the most points Golden State has allowed in any quarter this season.

Fans at Chase Center were booing the Dubs. Golden State surrendered a season high in points overall and most scored by the Pelicans against the Warriors in a regular-season game. The 36-point home defeat was the largest since a 37-point loss to the Spurs on March 26, 2007, and tied for the sixth-largest home defeat.

They’re “fragile,” Coach Steve Kerr said of his guys right now. “We have to find some fight. We may have to resort to some different tactics. We deserved it for sure, fell behind immediately and I think we’re just lacking confidence right now. You just sort of, you get to a stage sometimes where you just kind of lose your belief. And it happens. That’s what’s happened right now with our team the last few days, I think we’ve just lost the spirit and the confidence that has to carry you against talented teams night in and night out.”

Steph Curry really struggled with just 15 points on 4-for-13 shooting in 25 minutes. The Warriors have been blown out in their past two games, and Curry has surprisingly been a major reason for the tailspin. He’s averaged just 12.0 points on 22.2 percent shooting over them, going an uncharacteristic 3-for-17 from three-point range.

A lone bright spot was young forward Trayce Jackson-Davis, who had 19 points and five rebounds in 22 minutes. Jackson-Davis moved back to the bench Wednesday after starting in Golden State’s previous game. His 19 points established a career-high mark, and he reached that total on a very efficient 9-for-11 shooting line from the field. Jackson-Davis has been thriving of late with averages of 15.3 points, 8.3 boards and 1.7 blocks over his past three games.

Golden State’s reserves have outscored the opposing bench in 29 games this season. The Warriors’ 43.8 points per game off the bench is ranked third in the NBA, trailing Indiana (50.1 ppg) and Utah (44.0).

The Warriors have allowed 149 points in the first half of the last two games. Three of the last four Warriors opponents have scored at least 70 points in the first half – Denver (70), Detroit (46), Toronto (76), New Orleans (73). The last time the Warriors allowed at least 70 points in the first half in three of four games at home was April 10-18, 1990. It happened three times during that season, 1989-90.

As of this writing, it’s not clear if Draymond Green will play on Friday as he works his way back from suspension. He has been practicing. If not Friday, probably by the team’s next game. Kerr is trying to keep an open mind in reintegrating Green back into the Warriors’ lineup now that his indefinite suspension is over.

“I’m open-minded,” Kerr told reporters. “He just came back to practice so this next week will be a time where he’s integrating himself back into the group. It’s so different from an injury: he was away, literally away from the group for three weeks, that’s a long period of time during the season to be gone. So, there needs to be this period where he’s practicing and communicating with the guys and once he’s ready to play we’ll figure out what we’re going to do.”

Friday marks the first half of the Warriors’ seventh set of back-to-backs this season. The Warriors are 3-3 in the first game of back-to-backs and 5-1 in the second game.

Why Bet on Chicago Bulls?

Chicago won its third game in a row and second straight in OT on Wednesday, 124-119 despite blowing a big fourth quarter lead. After an Ayo Dosunmu corner 3 put the Bulls up 101-85 with just over nine minutes remaining, Houston outscored Chicago 27-11 through the end of regulation to tie it on an Alperen Sengun layup tied it at 112 with 23.2 seconds left. The Rockets led 119-114 with 2:50 left in overtime, but Zach LaVine responded with six straight points for the Bulls. LaVine’s 3 put Chicago ahead to stay.

LaVine had 25 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and three steals in one of his best games of the season and first double-double. LaVine became the seventh player in Bulls history to post such minimums in a game, joining e (Norm Van Lier, Michael Jordan, Charles Oakley, Scottie Pippen, Kirk Hinrich, Jimmy Butler).

Nikola Vucevic closed with 18 points and 15 rebounds. It was his 19th double-double this season and Vucevic now has 488 career double-doubles, which ranks tied for 33rd in NBA history, fourth among active players and first among active centers. LaVine and Vucevic were back in the starting lineup and without minute restrictions for their third game back after being sidelined by injuries.

“They didn’t go in early, but I thought the way he was playing in terms of decisiveness was really good,” coach Billy Donovan said of LaVine. “In overtime he really kept his head in the game and made some big plays for us, even picked up a couple loose basketballs and a couple of rebounds. He’s had a lot of amazing games throughout his career. I don’t know if I can sit here and say that was the best one I’ve seen. But certainly if you look at the all-around game he played on both ends of the floor, you could put that up there.”

Coby White blew up with 30 points and eight assists for his third 30-point game of the season. He has opened 2024 on a tear by scoring 22 or more points in each of his last four appearances. He is averaging 21.3 points per game across his last 10 appearances while being firmly entrenched as Chicago’s starting point guard. White was buried on the bench not all that long ago but LaVine’s original injury changed everything. White has tied his career high in a single season for most games (17) with 20-plus points.

The Bulls rank first in total deflections (611), tied for second in least turnovers per game (12.3), third in total points off turnovers (706), tied for fourth in points off turnovers per game (18.1), third in steals (312) and tied for seventh in steals per game (8.0).
