Do the Steelers Have What it Takes to Win Super Bowl? | MyBookie NFL Betting Analysis for the Whole Season: Players and Team

Steelers Season | 92nd in the National Football League | 18th under head coach Mike Tomlin
2023: 10–7 record / 3rd AFC North

Betting Pittsburgh Steelers: Season

This will not look like the same Steelers team that actually made the postseason a season ago, with a 10-7 record. Pittsburgh had a crazy season that saw them winning their final three games of the regular season to get into the postseason. Pittsburgh eventually lost in the first round of the postseason to Buffalo.

Some new players are in Pittsburgh, including both quarterbacks. Russell Wilson was brought in from the Denver Broncos, and he is expected to be the starter. Justin Fields finished his time in Chicago and will be the backup. The Steelers still have Najee Harris as their starting running back, but he expects to hit free agency following this season.

Pittsburgh will still use George Pickens as their top receiving threat, but the addition of Van Jefferson has many wondering if he will be a threat in the offense. Jaylen Warren had a big role last season and will return, as will Pat Freiermuth.

Writer’s Picks for the Steelers Season

Win Total for Pittsburgh Steelers: +8.5

Later, we will discuss what the Pittsburgh Steelers schedule looks like. But, this looks like a schedule and a team that can get to 9 wins. Mike Tomlin and his staff usually do, right? Who would have had the team a season ago getting 10 wins.

It will be interesting to see how the Steelers can adjust to new quarterback play, but overall, this team is still talented. 9 wins is all it takes to bet the OVER on this one. That is the lean we would go, with the Steelers going 9-8 on the season.

Steelers to Make Playoffs: +170

This is a good bet to take, especially since you can get positive money. Pittsburgh made the postseason a season ago, and it is not like they got all that much worse. Anytime you have a team that is pretty questionable to make the postseason or not, and oddsmakers are giving you positive money, you have to take it. We are going to take the +170 on Pittsburgh making the postseason under Mike Tomlin and his staff this season.

Pittsburgh to Win AFC North: +850

The Ravens won the division a season ago. The Bengals have been to a recent Super Bowl. The Browns appear to be on the rise again. This is going to be a grueling division. It will be interesting to see which of the four teams can stay healthy long enough. Every team has their key guy they just cannot afford to lose. If a few of them do, why not the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024, right?

Steelers to Win AFC: +2800

There are 10 teams with better odds to win the AFC than the Pittsburgh Steelers. That seems kind of wild that the Steelers are the 11th best out of 16 teams. But, here we are. The Chiefs, Ravens, Bengals, Bills, Texans, Jets, Dolphins, Chargers, Jaguars and Browns all have better odds.

That puts the Steelers just ahead of the Colts and the Raiders. The AFC Postseason could be a crapshoot, especially if this is the season that Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs fall flat on their face. There are worse things to bet at 28/1 odds than this one.

Pittsburgh Steelers to Win the Super Bowl: +5000

Of course this is a bit of a pipe dream. But, honestly, would anyone be surprised if the Steelers made a late season run and had their chance in the end? Not really. It would take a great effort from one of the new quarterbacks they brought in.

Both Wilson and Fields are going to have massive chips on their shoulders from being let go by their previous team. Harris will need to have a big season as the runner back, and of course the defense is going to have to come to play. 50/1 odds is maybe worth throwing a small flier on, as this team has the chance to possibly make some noise.

What to Expect from 2024 Pittsburgh Steelers

Mike Tomlin has been the head coach of the Steelers  since 2007 season. Tomlin has never had a losing season as the head coach. He has won the division 8 times, and been to the Super Bowl twice. But, the Steelers have not been to the Super Bowl, since they lost to the Packers in the 210 season. In 11 of Tomlin’s 17 seasons, the Steelers made the postseason. But, the Steelers have not won a postseason game since the 2016 season.

Pittsburgh in 2024 will of course play home and away against the Ravens, Browns and Bengals. The rest of the schedule is built for a third place team. But home games against the Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys are the glaring, noticeable games that jump out. The Steelers also host the Chargers and Giants, along with the Jets. When they go on the road, they will get the Falcons, Broncos, Colts, Raiders, Eagles and Commanders.

The mini camps are underway in the National Football League. We will have some time off, before training camp, and then preseason action will get underway. Following that, we will see some football. We are super excited for the season to get underway!

There is a look at the Pittsburgh Steelers season odds. The season run down here. We expect an interesting season from the Steelers. Best of luck with all your National Football League betting. Enjoy the games!

Pittsburgh Steelers 2018 NFL Betting Guide

Previous Betting News

The 2018 NFL Betting action is a whole lot closer than you might think, which means it’s time to start looking ahead at a few of the teams who might make a mark this coming season. The Pittsburgh Steelers are the most successful franchise in the NFL, but there are some who would suggest that they have underperformed in recent years, especially when having one of the best offenses in the league.

The Killer B’s will be back together for another run this year, assuming that LeVeon Bell eventually signs a new deal to play in the Steel City. We are going to look at a few of the games that you will probably want to bet on in the upcoming season, so let’s get right to it.

Pittsburgh Steelers 2018 NFL Betting Guide

Week 2 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs have been one of the elite teams in the NFL over the past few seasons, but they have been unable to get past the Steelers both in the regular season and the playoffs. KC is going to have a new QB running the show this season, but will that change their fortunes? This will be a stern test for the new-look Chiefs, as it’s never easy to go into Heinz Field and come away with a result. The Steelers will be looking to set the tone in the conference early on, and this would certainly be a good way to make their mark.

Week 4 vs. Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens have spent the last couple of seasons looking up at the Steelers atop the AFC North, and they will be out to flip that script this year. The Ravens were very active in free agency this offseason as they look to build a squad that can challenge for a division crown, and perhaps even more. These are two teams that genuinely do not care for one another, so getting to see this one on national TV on a Sunday night is going to be fun.

Week 5 vs. Atlanta Falcons

When you talk about high-powered offenses in the NFL, these are the two teams that immediately come to mind. What makes this one so special is that they really don’t meet very often, but when they do, things tend to get pretty exciting. The Falcons struggled at times last season and will be looking to get out to a better start this season. Their big concern right now is the status of Julio Jones, as he is holding out as he goes in search of a new contract.

Week 11 at Jacksonville Jaguars

This will be a date that all Steelers players and fans will have circled on their calendar, as the Black and Gold will be out looking for revenge against a Jaguars team that ousted the Steelers from the playoffs last season.

The Jags had a great season in 2017, but the question now is whether they can emulate that and perhaps go one better. We should have a good idea of where they are by the time this game rolls around.

Week 15 vs. New England Patriots

Part of the problem for the Steelers in recent years is that they have just not been able to get past the Patriots in the AFC. There is a growing sense that the dominant Brady era in New England is starting to come to a close, which may well mean that the window of opportunity is thrown wide open for the Steelers. This is always one of the match-ups that we look forward to every year, and this season is no different.

Previous Betting News

We tend to look at the seedings in each conference and quickly determine the teams that have a chance to win it all from those that are likely to fall at the first hurdle. 2024 MyBookie Sportsbook NFL Odds, American Football NFL Lines | Pittsburgh Steelers Postseason Betting Analysis

While there is certainly a great deal of parity between all the teams heading into the postseason, the reality is that the lower seeds have the toughest task ahead of them. Winning 3 straight games on the road is tough at the best of times but doing it against the best teams in your conference makes it difficult for those lower seeds to make it to the Super Bowl. History has shown, though, that it can be done, with the Pittsburgh Steelers one of the teams to have done it in the past. Can they do it again while starting as the #7 seed in the AFC this season? Let’s take a closer look.

Regular Season Recap

Truth be told, it’s more than a little surprising to see the Pittsburgh Steelers taking part in the playoffs this season when you consider the struggles that they have had along the way. The offense has been a sore point all season long, which we will get to in a moment, yet they still found a way to win 10 games and nab that final playoff spot in the AFC.

The Steelers were blown out by the 49ers in Week 1, but they bounced back with 2 straight wins. This is a trend that repeated two more times. Moving the Steelers to 6-3 at the midway point of the season. The wheels came off after that, with Pittsburgh losing 3 of the next 4 games to put their playoff hopes in serious doubt. A switch at offensive coordinator and Mason Rudolph coming in to replace the injured Kenny Pickett seemed to do the trick, as Pittsburgh won 3 in a row to close out the season.

Bet on the Steelers to Win in the Wild Card Game against Bills

Stats, Trends, and Odds

Like we mentioned earlier in this piece, the play of the Steelers offense has been a real bone of contention this season. They struggled to get anything done, leaning heavily on the D at times. When Kenny Pickett went down with injury, things only got worse with Mitch Trubisky under center, but things have turned around in the final 3 weeks. Even with that, the Steelers are still near the bottom in all the offensive stats, although they are defensively sound.

The Steelers, if they are to make a deep run, will need to be good on the road. The good news is that they have indeed been decent away from the cozy confines of Acrisure Stadium, going 5-3 in road games this season. That included a big win over the Baltimore Ravens in hostile territory to make it into the Wild Card. They also beat the Seahawks on the road, winning 2 in a row away from home to close out the regular season.

While there have been some positives for the Steelers over the past few weeks, the negatives are also there in the form of injuries, with TJ Watt set to miss this weekend in Buffalo. The Steelers are the biggest longshot on the board at odd of +6000 to win the conference and +10000 to win the Super Bowl.

The Pittsburgh Steelers, part of the AFC North, come into the 2023 season with a bunch of question marks.

Can the quarterback play get the job done in a rugged divisional race? Is the defense good enough to slow down offenses led by Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson? Can the Steelers run the football enough to control the ball and the clock?

There are more questions with this team, and the Steelers await a tough 2023 schedule. We present to you the Pittsburgh Steelers top NFL games to bet in all Regular Season.

Pittsburgh Steelers Top Games to Bet in Regular Season | MyBookie Regular Season Preview – Week 1-17

NFL Regular Season: September 7, 2023 – January 7, 2024

San Francisco 49ers at Pittsburgh Steelers | Week 1

Sunday, September 10th, 2023 at 1:00 pm
Acrisure Stadium, Pittsburgh, PA
FOX

The first game of the season is not going to be an easy one. The 49ers are coming into Pittsburgh as one of the top favorites to win the NFC.

The 49ers are tough and fundamental. They are well-coached and will continue to make movements to get to the Super Bowl this season.

If the Steelers are going to take advantage of the 49ers, Week 1 is a good time to do it – as they may have an early season quarterback controversy. Look for a fun Week 1 game in Pittsburgh.

Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers | Week 5

Sunday, October 8th, 2023 at 1:00 pm

The Ravens are going to be out for blood. This is a big rivalry game, and the Ravens feel they are disrespected when it comes to conference favorites. Baltimore wants to be the class of the division and will have to win a tough road conference game to solidify that.

Look for Mike Tomlin and the Steelers to put forth quite a plan to slow down Lamar Jackson here—big game here, and one of the best on the slate all season.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns | Week 11

Sunday, November 19th, 2023 at 1:00 pm
Cleveland Browns Stadium, Cleveland, OH
CBS

This is the first of back-to-back road games against conference foes for the Steelers. This game is at Cleveland, and next week they go to Cincinnati.

The Steelers will likely have to face DeShaun Watson, who Cleveland fans are excited about having for a full season. The plan for Watson is different than the plan for Jackson, and both plans are different for Burrow. This will be a tough November rest for both teams.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals | Week 12

Sunday, November 26th, 2023 at 1:00 pm

Joe Burrow may miss games early in the season, but barring another injury, he is going to play in this game. This is the Sunday after Thanksgiving, and playoff talk heats up big time this time of year.

Look for Pittsburgh to grab the football and keep it on the ground as much as possible to keep the game down. The Steelers and Bengals always play good football games, and we project this one to be yet another.

New Year’s Eve and the Steelers have to finish with back-to-back road games. This is the first of those. In fact, the Steelers play three of their final four on the road.

The Seahawks are going to be a tough team to defend, and that’s what Pittsburgh will have to do here. Not sure the Steelers will want to play a high-scoring affair here.

Pittsburgh Steelers 2022 Season Betting Guide

Previous Betting News

Is there a more stable franchise in the NFL than the Pittsburgh Steelers? They have had a record 18 consecutive non-losing seasons, with the last losing campaign coming in 2003. Will that continue this year without Ben Roethlisberger? Let’s break it down. Here are your favorite bets in the NFL.

Odds to win Super Bowl: +8000
Odds to win AFC: +5000
Odds to win AFC North: +800
Over/under win total: 7.5

Pittsburgh Steelers 2022 Season Betting Guide

The Steelers didn’t know their 2021 playoff fate until their Week 17 game in Baltimore. Pittsburgh won that 16-13 in overtime on a Chris Boswell made a 36-yard field goal with 1:56 remaining but then the Steelers still had to wait and see what happened in the late game in Week 17 between the Chargers and Raiders. Had the Chargers won or it been a tie, Pittsburgh would have missed out but Las Vegas kicked a field goal at the end of overtime to win 35-32.

Ben Roethlisberger’s final NFL game would be an ugly 42-21 loss at Kansas City in the Wild-Card Round. The 39-year-old quarterback was 29 of 44 for 215 yards with two meaningless TD passes late in the game, providing the coda to a career that included six Pro Bowl trips and two Super Bowl wins.

The likely Week 1 starter at QB for the Steelers this year will be Mitchell Trubisky. He brings with him plenty of experience, starting 50 of the 57 games he has played in during his five-year career. Trubisky spent the first four seasons of his career with the Chicago Bears, who selected him in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the second player taken overall. He played for the Buffalo Bills in 2021, where he backed-up Josh Allen, playing in only six games with eight pass attempts. In five seasons he has completed 1,016 of 1,585 passes for 10,652 yards and 64 touchdowns, with 38 interceptions.

There could be a camp battle with Mason Rudolph, who has started 10 of the 17 games he played in his three seasons with the Steelers, and rookie first-round pick Kenny Pickett out of the University of Pittsburgh. Trubisky reportedly has “a significant head start,” and the competition between him, Rudolph and Pickett “will be more for show” than substance. Pickett certainly is the future but he worked exclusively with the third-string offense in OTAs and minicamp.

Running back Najee Harris had a terrific rookie season and could be used even more this year. The Steelers wasted little time getting Harris acclimated to the NFL, handing him the ball nearly 400 times (307 rushes, 74 catches) despite a suspect offensive line and an aging Roethlisberger under center. Harris responded with a Pro Bowl performance, rushing for 1,200 yards and scoring 10 total touchdowns with zero rushing fumbles.

The defense should remain Top 10 in the league behind linebacker TJ Watt, the 2021 NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Watt had an epic 2021 season, tying Hall of Famer Michael Strahan’s NFL single-season record with 22.5 sacks, leading the NFL in sacks for the second-straight year. Watt became one of only two players in NFL history to have 20 plus sacks in 14 or fewer games since sacks became an official statistic in 1982. The only other one to do it was the legendary Reggie White, who had 21 sacks in 12 games in 1987 in a strike-shortened season.

Watt joined an exclusive group of Steelers who won the award, including Joe Greene (1972, 1974), Mel Blount (1975), Jack Lambert (1976), Rod Woodson (1993), James Harrison (2008) and Troy Polamalu (2010), five of the six in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Pittsburgh boosted the defense by signing former Bengals lineman Larry Ogunjobi (foot) to a one-year deal. Ogunjobi registered a career-high seven sacks last season with Cincinnati and was set to join Chicago on a three-year, $40.5 million deal until a failed physical nullified the deal.

The club also signed former Jaguars linebacker Myles Jack to a two-year deal. Jack led the Jaguars with 108 combined tackles in 2021, and it was his third season with at least 107 combined tackles in the last four years. The former second-round pick out of UCLA has started in 82 of 88 games played in six seasons, and has made 513 combined tackles, 15 passes defensed and three interceptions.

Pittsburgh opens the season at reigning AFC champion Cincinnati and is a 6.5-point favorite. Don’t see the Steelers winning that one.

NFL 2021 Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Options Analysis

Previous Betting News

Heading into the 2021-2022 NFL Season, can you think of a more interesting team than the Pittsburgh Steelers? Last season’s AFC North champions are third choice to take the division this season. The Steelers play the toughest schedule in the league, which many NFL analysts believe will lead to a less than stellar 2020. But Mike Tomlin and Ben Roethlisberger are one of the most successful coach and quarterback combos in history. Keep reading for our in depth Pittsburgh Steelers’ future NFL odds analysis.

2021 NFL Season – Pittsburgh Steelers Options to Bet On

National Football League 2021 Season

When: Sep. 9, 2021 – Jan. 9, 2022

Steelers to Win Super Bowl 56 +4000

We’ll start with the big prize, Super Bowl 56. The Steelers are a gargantuan +4000 underdog. At the odds, Pittsburgh shouldn’t even make the playoffs. But even though Pittsburgh plays a ridiculously difficult schedule, so do their AFC North rivals. The Steelers have as much of a shot of winning the Super Bowl as the Baltimore Ravens, which means the 40-to-1 odds make Steel Town an overlay.

Steelers Super Bowl 56 Odds: Overlay

Steelers AFC Championship +2000

If +4000 to win the Lombardi Trophy are overlay odds, then +2000 to win the AFC are underlay odds, right? Nope. Logically speaking, the Steelers have a better shot of beating the NFC Champion than they do of beating the Kansas City Chiefs or Buffalo Bills, the two favorites to win the AFC. So if Pittsburgh beats the Chiefs and, or Bills on their way to Super Bowl 56, they should handle the team the NFC sends to the Super Bowl no problem.

Steelers AFC Championship Odds: Underlay

Steelers Worst Regular Season Record +5000

If things implode, the Steelers could finish with the worst record in football. Things would have to implode at a massive level, the defense would have to lose four key starters, Big Ben would have to get hurt before Week 3, Mike Tomlin would lose his coaching touch, etc. 5,000-to-1 are decent odds, though. They’re not overlay or underlay odds. They’re fair odds.

Steelers Worst Regular Season Record Odds: Fair

Steelers AFC North Division +420

There are only four teams in each NFL division. If we discount the Bengals, the three teams that can win the AFC North are the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, and Baltimore Ravens. If you like the Ravens more than the Steelers, the +420 are underlay odds. Because of Mike Tomlin and Ben Roethlisberger, though, Pittsburgh has a slightly better chance of winning the division than Baltimore. So in our eyes, +420 are overlay odds.

Steelers AFC North Division Odds: Overlay

Mike Tomlin Coach of the Year +2500

Tomlin is a master coach. He will get the most possible from every player on Pittsburgh’s roster. Because the Steelers boast the most difficult schedule in the NFL, Tomlin has a great shot of winning coach of the year. His chances are better than +2500.

Mike Tomlin Coach of the Year Odds: Overlay

Najee Harris Offensive Rookie of the Year +600

Quarterbacks often win this award. Najee Harris will get around 20 carries a game, which makes the +600 fair odds considering 4 to 5 rookie quarterbacks could start in Week 1.

Najee Harris Offensive Rookie of the Year Odds: Fair

Pittsburgh Steelers Regular Season Wins

Over 8 ½ +100
Under 8 ½ -130

At first glance, 8 ½ games are too many, but now that we’ve studied the Steelers’ schedule, Pittsburgh has a real shot of winning 10 games. Mike Tomlin will ensure the Steelers bring it every game. Also, Big Ben wouldn’t have come back this season if he didn’t believe Pittsburgh could get it done. Over 8 ½ at +100 are overlay odds.

Steelers Regular Season Wins Pick: Over 8 ½ +100

Pittsburgh Steelers NFL Odds After Free Agency Week 1

Previous Betting News

It’s never a good idea to look back in sports, especially for teams in the NFL who are coming into free agency on the heels of a disappointing season. The job of the front office and the coaching staff is to identify the area that need work and then to go out into the market and find the players that will plug those holes, all while working with a tight salary cap situation. The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a nightmare season where it looked as though they would never have enough healthy bodies to be able to compete. The fact that they were still in the playoff hunt heading into the final week of the season is a testament to the job done by Mike Tomlin and the rest of his coaching staff. The Steelers do not have a ton of cap space, but they have already made a few very solid moves in free agency that could set them up nicely for the coming season. Here’s an overview of the Pittsburgh Steelers and their NFL Odds as it stands.

Pittsburgh Steelers NFL Odds After Free Agency Week 1

Player Movement and Possible Future Moves

Last season got off to a disastrous start for the Pittsburgh Steelers, with QB Ben Roethlisberger getting injured in Week 2 and being out for the season. The injuries began to pile up after that, and all in key positions. At one point, Pittsburgh were playing with a 3rd string QB and pulling guys off the practice squad to fill in at running back. They still managed to go 8-5, thanks in large part to a ridiculously good defense, before running out of gas and losing the final 3 games of the season.

What became clear is that the Steelers do not yet have an adequate replacement for Big Ben when he decides to retire, which might not be that far in the future. Roethlisberger is recovering well and should be ready to go at the start of the new season, but that had not stopped the Steelers adding pieces to shore up both the offense and the defense.

Their moves began with an attempt to shore up the offensive line, which they did by bringing in Super Bowl winner Stefen Wizniewski from the Kansas City Chiefs. He will replace Ramon Foster, who announced his retirement. The Steelers were a little underwhelming at the TE position last season, so the addition of Eric Ebron should help take some of the weight off Vance McDonald, who had a down year last season. The Steelers also went out and got Derek Watt, brother of T.J. to add to special teams. One of the defensive stars of last season, Bud Dupree, was handed the franchise tag, a move that they really needed to make given that they do not have a ton of cap space to work with.

I think it’s fair to suggest that we don’t really know where this team stands based on the injuries they had last season, so it will be interesting to follow the Steelers in 2020.

The Pittsburgh Steelers Odds to Win the Super Bowl

One of the exciting things for the Steelers is that the core of their defensive group is still quite young, so expect them to dominate again this season. If they can stay healthy and the offense improves with the return of Big Ben, the Steelers might be a good pick at +2500.

versus Washington Football Team Dec. 6
at Buffalo Bills on Dec. 13
at Cincinnati Bengals Dec. 21

at Cleveland Browns Jan. 3

What are the games the Steelers should win?

On Tuesday, the Ravens could be without Lamar Jackson, tight-end Mark Andrews, and their two starting running backs, Mark Ingram and J.K. Dobbins. Even at full strength, Baltimore’s defense has gotten shredded the past few weeks.

Pittsburgh should easily handle the Ravens. They should also beat the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns. The Bengals aren’t nearly as good without Joe Burrow as they were with the Heisman Trophy winning rookie. The Browns can do one thing well, rush the football. No way Cleveland’s defense stops Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers’ offense.

What are the toughest games on the Steelers remaining schedule?

In Week 12, Buffalo’s defense stepped it up against a decent Los Angeles Chargers’ offense. The Bills held the Bolts to 17 points. Buffalo won’t be an easy out.

Nor will the Indianapolis Colts. Even though the Colts got drubbed by the Tennessee Titans in Week 12, the loss came on the heels of an overtime victory against top NFC squad Green Bay. The Week 11 win against the Packers had to have taken something out of Indianapolis. Indy’s defense remains one of the best in the league.

Surprisingly, the team the Steelers must worry about the most could be the Washington Commanders. The WFT has won two in a row. The defensive line is fantastic. Montez Sweat and Chase Young can dominate any offensive line, even Pittsburgh’s. If you’re looking to play a team to upset the Steelers on the moneyline, Washington might be that team.

What are the Steelers’ true Super Bowl chances?

At +500, Pittsburgh offers fair odds to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Unless they lose to Buffalo, Indianapolis, and Washington, feel good about yourself if you back the Steelers at +500.

However, should Pittsburgh lose 3 of their next 5 games, we should consider them a pretender. 8 of the Steelers’ 10 wins have come against the Giants, Broncos, Texans, Eagles, Browns, Cowboys, Bengals, and Jaguars.

That’s a lot of wins against subpar teams. If Pittsburgh does go 16-0, though, consider them as much of a favorite to win the Super Bowl as the Kansas City Chiefs.

Ben Roethlisberger NFL Comeback Player of the Year Odds & Analysis For 2020 Season

Previous Betting News

Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger went down injured in Week 2 of last season and the Steelers’ season essentially went down the tubes with him. Big Ben is good to go this year. Here are Roethlisberger’s odds at Mybookie to win 2020 NFL Comeback Player of the Year as well as the Steelers’ over/under win total.

NFL Betting Lines

Big Ben is a lock future Hall of Famer as he has won two single-season passing yardage titles and ranks in the Top 10 career in most categories. He also has won two Super Bowl rings. In 2006 he became the youngest Super Bowl-winning quarterback in NFL history, leading the Steelers, in only his second professional season, to a 21–10 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL at the age of 23.

Roethlisberger has the fourth-highest career winning percentage (.710) as a starter in the regular season among QBs with a minimum of 100 starts. He is one of six QBs in NFL history to have beaten at least 31 of the current NFL teams.

Through 16 NFL seasons, Roethlisberger has compiled 56,545 passing yards and 363 touchdowns to 191 interceptions. He has made six Pro Bowls, yet one thing Roethlisberger has not accomplished (and probably never will) is earning a single first-team All-Pro appearance. That’s a shock.

As recently as 2018, Big Ben started all 16 regular season games. He finished the season setting Steelers single season records in attempts (675), completions (452), passing yards (5,129) and touchdowns (34). His 675 attempts, 452 completions and 5,129 yards led the NFL in 2018 and his 34 touchdowns ranked fifth.

In Week 1 last season, Roethlisberger completed 27-of-47 passes for 276 yards and an interception in the Steelers’ loss to the Patriots. Roethlisberger played even worse than his stats. He went touchdown-less on 47 attempts and was limited to check downs, averaging just 5.9 yards per pass.

In Week 2, he exited against the Seahawks in the second quarter with a right elbow injury. That injury would prove to be serious as Roethlisberger had to have season-ending surgery in the elbow to reattach three tendons. On the bright side, he avoided the dreaded Tommy John surgery, a procedure that would have put his availability for the 2021 season in jeopardy. The 38-year-old plans to play out the remainder of his contract, which runs through 2021.

After losing the first three games of the 2019 season and four of their first five, the Steelers went on to win seven of their next eight games. Unfortunately, they closed out the season with three consecutive losses – scoring a mere 10 points in each contest. They missed the playoffs again.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said the team “fully anticipates” Roethlisberger being ready for the season opener. Roethlisberger will no doubt be an improvement over Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges from a season ago.

“As we sit here today, we are extremely confident in his readiness,” Tomlin said recently. “We are enjoying the process that he’s going through right now. Obviously, it’s not without its angst. The guy is coming off a season-ending injury and surgery. But we like where we are. He’s throwing on a rehab schedule, and it’s going well, and we fully anticipate him being ready to go for that opener.”

Roethlisberger himself recently noted the plan was to progressively increase his rehab until he’s “100%” by training camp. Not long ago, he posted a video of himself throwing passes to teammates JuJu Smith-Schuster, James Conner, and Ryan Switzer. Big Ben is feeling so good about his return that he had his beard trimmed last month — something he previously said he would not do until he threw an NFL-type pass to a teammate again.

“I think it’s going great,” Roethlisberger said. “It feels awesome. Still working into it. Luckily, I don’t have to be ready to go until September hopefully. But it feels great. Ahead of schedule and everything so I’m excited. Most importantly, throwing without pain.”

Pittsburgh opens the season on Sept. 14 at the New York Giants. The Steelers are -3.5 at MyBookie.

Pittsburgh Steelers Schedule Odds & Analysis

Previous Betting News

While there is still a little uncertainty about the start date of the NFL and whether or not there will be fans in the stands at the start of the season, the league is moving forward with business as usual. Last week, they released the full schedule for the coming season, with the dates of all games showing as starting as planned. This is a fluid situation that might see changes made in the coming weeks, but for now, let’s take a look at the Pittsburgh Steelers schedule for the coming season and their NFL betting odds.

Pittsburgh Steelers Schedule Analysis

Strength of Schedule

While the Steelers will have been disappointed with their 8-8 record last season, one of the benefits of a down year is that the schedule the following season is usually a little easier to manage. Pittsburgh is a much better team than their previous year’s record suggests, as you have to remember that they were hammered by injuries at the skill positions. This coming season, they will face teams who had a combined record of 117-139 last season, so the schedule certainly looks to be playing into the favor of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Path to the Playoffs Lies on the Road

Given the strength of the Baltimore Ravens, it might be fair to suggest that Pittsburgh will be battling it out for a Wild Card spot in the AFC. If things are as tight as they were last season, then the race for playoff spots could go into the final weeks of the season. Pittsburgh will have 3 of their final 4 games of the year on the road in Buffalo, Cleveland, and Cincinnati. There are certainly winnable matchups in there, but as we have seen in the past, getting the W on the road is never an easy task in the NFL.

Primetime and Featured Games

The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to open their season in Primetime, as they will be in the first Monday night game of the year against the New York Giants. Pittsburgh will have another Monday night game, this time against the Bengals, later in the year, while also having a pair of Sunday night games against the Baltimore Ravens and the Buffalo Bills on the primetime schedule.

The one game that every Steelers fan has circled on the calendar is the October 18 game at home to the Cleveland Browns. This will be the first time that Pittsburgh will face Myles Garrett since he took at swing at Mason Rudolph with his helmet in a game last season. The players will almost certainly play this one down, but you can bet that the Heinz Field faithful will be spitting some venom in that one.

A friendlier matchup will come on September 27 when the Steelers take on the Houston Texans, pitting brothers T.J. and J.J Watt together.

The Pittsburgh Steelers Complete Schedule

As we mentioned already, dates may be changed in the coming weeks, but this is how the Steelers schedule looks at the moment:

Previous Betting News

Not only did Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers take a big step backwards last season to see their four-year playoff run come to an abrupt halt, but now, as they get set for the upcoming 2019 NFL regular season, the AFC North playoff hopefuls are looking at some significant changes. With perennial Pro Bowl wide receiver Antonio Brown now in Oakland and star running back Le’Veon Bell suiting up for the New York Jets, the Steelers will have an almost completely new look to their offense this coming season.

Whether the Steelers find suitable replacements for their departed stars or not remains to be seen, but with a bunch of change going on in Pittsburgh, there are definitely a bunch of things you need to know about the Steelers before they take to the field for the 2019 campaign.

Let’s find out what those things are right now.

Pittsburgh Steelers 2019 NFL Season Betting Guide

Betting Statistics

Pittsburgh was limited to nine wins last season to snap a four-year trend of recording double-digit victories. The Steelers did manage to record a winning ATS mark by covering the chalk four times at home and on the road. Ben Roethlisberger and company also went a dead-even 8-8 against their Over/Under totals last season while topping the total five time at home and playing under their set figure five times on the road.

Offense

The Steelers finished the 2018 season ranked an impressive fourth overall, including a stellar second in passing and encouraging seventh in scoring (26.8 ppg). Without Le’Veon Bell’s services however, Pittsburgh ranked a discouraging 31st in rushing. To address their needs on the offensive side of the ball, the Steelers signed former Jaguars wideout Donte Moncrief and former Chiefs wide receiver Steven Nelson in free agency while re-signing wide receiver Eli Rogers and selecting Toledo wide receiver Diontae Johnson in the third round of the NFL draft.

Defense

Defensively, Pittsburgh finished the 2018 campaign ranked an encouraging sixth overall, 10th against the pass and sixth against the run. In spite of those impressive numbers, Pittsburgh finished last season ranked a modest 17th in points allowed (22.5 ppg). To address their needs on the defensive side of the ball, Pittsburgh signed former Rams linebacker Mark Barron and former Chiefs cornerback Steve Nelson while re-signing linebacker Anthony Chickillo and defensive tackle Dan McCullers. The Steelers also drafted Michigan linebacker Devin Bush with the 10th overall pick and Michigan State cornerback Justin Layne in the third round.

Team Leaders

In 2018, superstar wideout Antonio Brown led the team with 15 touchdowns scored, but it was emerging star JuJu Smith-Schuster that led the team in receiving yards in his second season. While Pittsburgh saw star running back Le’Veon Bell sit out the entire season in another contract dispute with the franchise, second-year running back James Conner was solid in rushing for a team-high 973 yards while averaging 4.5 yards per carry. Another second-year performer also played at a high level as linebacker T.J. Watt led the team with 13 sacks. Former Pro Bowl cornerback Joe Haden led the team in interceptions in his second season with the Steelers.

Outlook

Let me get started by saying that you just don’t lose two players the caliber of Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell and not feel its effects. With that said, I like the Steelers to make a good run at reaching 10 victories in 2019, though that’s certainly not etched in stone. In addition to their pair of tough AFC North division matchups against reigning champion Baltimore, the Steelers will also be facing an improved Cleveland squad in 2019 and a Bengals team with a new look as well.

In addition to that, Pittsburgh has a bunch of difficult non-division contests looming at New England and the L.A. Chargers and at home against Seattle, Indianapolis and the L.A. Rams. Still, Pittsburgh’s defense was pretty good last season and they made some nice additions to improve on that side of the ball. If Pittsburgh struggles on offense, they could be in for a long season, but I’m banking on the Steelers to beat the hell out of rebuilding teams like San Francisco, Miami, Arizona, Buffalo and the New York Jets.
