NBA Odds for Potential 2023 Championship Matchups

There are about 13 weeks left in the 2022-2023 NBA Season. The weeks are going to fly by in a flash, which is why in this blog we analyze basketball odds for potential NBA Finals matchups. The NBA Championship matchups we discuss in the blog revolve around two Eastern Conference teams, Milwaukee and Boston and two Western Conference squads, Denver and Memphis.

We thought it might be fun to take a closer look at the basketball analysis to consider the NBA odds.

NBA Odds for Potential 2023 Championship Matchups

2023 NBA Finals: June 1 – June 18

Four Likeliest NBA Finals Matchups: Milwaukee Bucks vs. Denver Nuggets

Can you think of a better matchup between the teams with the two best players in the league? Giannis Antetokounmpo plays for the Milwaukee Bucks and Nikola Jokic throws down for Denver.

As of March 21, the Bucks have gone an excellent 7-3 straight up in their last 10. Milwaukee has a 2-games lead over the Boston Celtics, which makes them the top seed in the East.

The top seed in the West are the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets are 5-5 in their last 10. So it makes sense that Milwaukee is the favorite.

Denver matches up well with Milwaukee, but the Nuggets are 18-18 in road games this season. So the Bucks would be difficult to beat if this NBA Finals were to happen.

Four Likeliest NBA Finals Matchups: Boston Celtics vs. Denver Nuggets

The Celtics, this season’s early favorite to win rings, went 5-5 from March 3 to March 21. It’s important to note that Boston lost 3 straight from March 3 to March 6.

So the Cs appear to be back on the right track. The Nuggets’ road woes would remain no matter if they played against Milwaukee or Boston, which is why the Celtics are the chalk in this matchup.

Four Likeliest NBA Finals Matchups: Memphis Grizzlies vs. Milwaukee Bucks

Milwaukee is the favorite because unless Milwaukee starts losing games, the Bucks will enter the NBA Playoffs with the league’s best record.

Not only that, but Milwaukee has the type of defense that could give Memphis serious issues. Ja Morant’s great.

However, Milwaukee plays team defense as well as any team in the Association. Also, if required, Giannis could could defend Ja man-to-man.

Four Likeliest NBA Finals Matchups: Memphis Grizzlies vs. Boston Celtics

This would be a terrific NBA Finals. The Grizzlies match up great with Boston. The Celtics might be in trouble because Memphis would have a huge advantage in the backcourt.

For pure basketball entertainment value, it’s difficult to think of a better NBA Championship Series.

Four Top Underdog NBA Finals Teams

The following teams are good enough to make the NBA Finals so we thought we should write a few words.

Top Underdog NBA Finals: Philadelphia 76ers

As long as Joel Embiid steps onto the court, the 76ers can win the NBA Finals. Not only that, but if Philadelphia were in the West, they’d be in a battle with Denver for the top seed.

Top Underdog NBA Finals: Cleveland Cavaliers

Cleveland’s backcourt of Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland might be the best in the NBA. Mitchell can flat out take over a game. Garland is one of the best three-point shooting guards in the league.

The Cavs are as real as the 76ers, which means if Boston and Milwaukee stumble, Cleveland for sure could win the Eastern Conference.

Top Underdog NBA Finals: Sacramento Kings

Heading into March 22, the Sacramento Kings are in third place, ahead of the Suns, Clippers, and Warriors, in the Western Conference.

Sacramento is only 5 games behind Denver for the West’s top seed. What makes Sacramento so good? De’Aaron Fox is the perfect compliment point guard for forward Keegan Murray and center Domantas Sabonis.

Top Underdog NBA Finals: Phoenix Suns

If Kevin Durant can stay healthy, the Suns can win the NBA Finals. KD must remain healthy, though.

Phoenix gave up half their team to acquire Durant. So if he’s hurt, the Suns have nobody to pick up the slack.
