Regular Season: September 5th, 2023 – January 5th, 2024
Starting 2024 NFL Season
The National Football League is right around the corner.
In fact, teams are starting to report to their camp to prepare to start the 2024 season.
As always, we cannot wait for the football action to begin.
TOday, we thought we would look at some interesting dates on the schedule.
Let’s give a calendar analysis and exploit the intra divisional NFL Betting Trends, while looking at intense rivalries and familiarity between teams:
Writer’s Picks for this Season’s Intra-Divisional Matches
Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins
The two top teams in the AFC East.
Last season, when the Bills beat the Dolphins late in the season, Buffalo won the division, and the tides turned on divisional seeding.
These two teams will play twice this season.
The first one is early in the season, as they will mix it up on Thursday Night Football in Week 2.
This game will take place on South Beach in Miami.
The second meeting will be in cold Buffalo, but in early November.
November 3rd, in fact.
They do not play anytime over the final eight weeks of the season:
Baltimore Ravens vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
One of the nastiest rivalries in all of the National Football League.
The Ravens and Steelers do not like each other, and both are going to play a factor in the divisional standings.
Pittsburgh added two new quarterbacks, and will wait and see how it plays out for them this season.
The first meeting between these two teams is not until just before Thanksgiving.
Pittsburgh hosts Baltimore on November 17th.
The second meeting is in Week 16, just before Christmas.
These two games are going to have some big time playoff implications in 2024.
Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
What is the biggest rivalry in the AFC South? In 2024, it needs to include CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans.
Houston is going to be a big problem for folks in the National Football League.
This season, it is the Jaguars with the extension of Trevor Lawrence.
This is going to be a fun quarterback rivalry for years to come.
The first meeting is in Houston in Week 4.
The second meeting will be in Jacksonville.
That game is slated to be December 1st.
This should be an interesting divisional game with alot on the line late.
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Denver Broncos
This game is always interesting, because it seems no matter how good or bad the teams are, crazy things happen.
This is a monster rivalry.
The Chiefs are going to be really good, again.
The Broncos project to be one of the worst teams in the league.
Can Denver muster enough to cause the Chiefs problems? The first meeting is set for November 10th in Kansas City.
THe second meeting will be cold, and full of drama.
The two teams will meet in Denver on January 5th to finish the regular season.
Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Two teams with a ton to prove in 2024.
The Cowboys still want to show America that they are a legit candidate to go to the Super Bowl out of the NFC.
The Eagles did not reach the postseason a season ago, after going to the Super Bowl the previous season.
Dak Prescott and Jalen Hurts are both going to be motivated.
This rivalry is one of the best in the league.
The first meeting is set for November 10th in Dallas.
The second affair is in Philadelphia, in Week 17th, which is December 29th.
Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears
This is one of the best rivalries in all of the game, but it has been one-sided.
Can the Bears, who should be improved, finally compete in this rivalry? Do the Bears actually have a quarterback that can win a big rivalry game?
Are the Bears a playoff contender in 2024? Caleb Williams against Jordan Love here.
The Bears and Packers first meet in Chicago on November 17th.
The second meeting between the two will be at Lambeau Field to wrap up the season on January 5th.
New Orleans Saints vs. Atlanta Falcons
Who wins the NFC South? That’s a question, no one has a great answer to.
The Saints have been in the mix for several seasons, but is Derek Carr the guy to do so?
Kirk Cousins is now the leader of the offense in Atlanta.
How long can he remain the starting quarterback?
These two teams are none too pleased with each other, and both know divisional games are huge for a group of four teams that are full of flaws.
The Saints and Falcons first meeting is on September 29th in Atlanta.
The second time they meet will be in New Orleans on November 10th.
San Francisco 49ers vs Los Angeles Rams
Will any team in the NFC West be able to hang with the 49ers in the divisional standings?
The Rams probably have the best chance, as Seattle looks to be rebuilding, and Arizona is not quite ready for that stage.
No matter what the standings are, these organizations are not fans of each other.
The 49ers and Rams first meeting is going to be Week 3.
That game is in Los Angeles.
The second meeting will be in the Bay Area, as they are slated to play in Week 15 on Thursday Night Football.
Sean McVay against Kyle Shanahan is always must watch football.
