The weekend is almost upon us and that means another full slate of NHL games. There is, though, one notable exception, as the Calgary Flames remain unable to play due to a COVID outbreak within the organization. The league continues to push back the date at which the Flames can return, so that is something we will be keeping an eye on as the story continues to unfold. Even with the Flames on the bench, we still have a ton of great games to choose from over the next few days. As always, we will be looking at the games set to be played on Friday through Sunday to find the best possible matchups to bet against the NHL odds. Let’s get right to it.
Must Bet Games: Weekend Games – Friday – Sunday
Vegas Golden Knights at New York Rangers – Friday
The Golden Knights head to the Big Apple looking to close the gap on the absent Flames. They are 2 points back of Calgary in the Pacific Division after winning 2 in a row and 6 of their last 10. They will have a tough task versus a Rangers team that is now sitting atop a very tight Metropolitan Division. The Rangers are 7-3-0 in their last 10 games and a very respectable 8-3-1 on home ice.
Washington Capitals at Winnipeg Jets – Friday
The Capitals are sure to still be smarting after losing to the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night, a loss that cost them the top spot in the division. Even with that defeat, they are still 8-3-3 on the road this season. The Winnipeg Jets come into this game having lost each of their last 2, but they are still very much in the picture in a tight race in the Central Division.
Florida Panthers at Minnesota Wild – Saturday
Yes, there is still a lot of hockey to come and fortunes to change, but there are some who believe this could be a Stanley Cup Final preview. The Panthers are sliding a little, going 5-4-1 in their last 10 and losing each of their last 2 games. The Wild have also lost 2 in a row, but they have still managed to win 8 of their last 10 to remain atop the Central Division.
Tampa Bay Lightning at Colorado Avalanche – Saturday
You can’t get much more balanced than what the Tampa Bay Lightning have delivered this season, going 9-3-2 at home and away. Even with those records, the Lightning are still just 3rd in a very competitive Atlantic Division race. The Avalanche head into the weekend on a hot run of form, winning each of their last 5 games. They are an impressive 10-2-1 on home ice.
Nashville Predators at Carolina Hurricanes – Sunday
Both of these teams are in the thick of a playoff race in their respective conferences, so both will be looking to pick up valuable points. The Predators are on a roll at the moment, winning 5 in a row and going 7-3-0 in their last 10 games. Carolina have cooled off and are playing .500 hockey over the last 10 games, but they are also just 2 points out of 1st in the Metropolitan Division.
