The Stanley Cup playoffs are now deep into Round 2, and we have to say that things are not going the way most of us expected. Seeing the Boston Bruins, who had a regular season for the ages, go down in Round 1 was more than a little surprising, but it seems to have set the tone for the rest of the playoffs. The Seattle Kraken and the Florida Panthers have been the big surprises of the postseason to this point, and it does not look as though they are done just yet.
NHL Playoffs Second Round Games: 5/8 | NHL Lines
There is only one game set for Monday night, which we will get to in a moment, but before we do that, we thought it might be a good idea to take a quick look at the other series that are ongoing right now. We will also be back tomorrow to take a much deeper look at the Tuesday night schedule, which is a little busier.
Vegas Golden Knights at Edmonton Oilers
Edmonton 1-1 Vegas
When: Monday, May 8 at 8:30 pm ET
Where: Rogers Place, Edmonton, CA
TV / Streaming: ESPN
It is very much a case of job done for the Oilers, who head home for Game 3 after getting the split and stealing home ice advantage in Sin City. They found themselves in a hole after losing 6-4 in Game 1, but then bounced back with a stellar 5-1 win in Game 2. This came after taking out the LA Kings in 6 games in the opening round.
After losing to the Winnipeg Jets in Game 1, the Golden Knights went on a tear, winning 4 in a row to move into Round 2. There has been a ton of scoring in their games to this point, which is the same story with the Oilers, so we might expect another shootout in Game 3 as the Golden Knights look to steal back home ice advantage.
I think the best bet in Game 3 is going to be the OVER 6 ½ goals, as both teams are offensively gifted. I have the Oilers taking it in a close one.

Carolina Hurricanes Vs New Jersey Devils
Hurricanes Lead 2-1
When: Tueday, May 9 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: Prudential Center, Newark, NJ
TV / Streaming: ESPN
With the Bruins now gone, the Hurricanes look like the team to beat in the Eastern Conference. They took out the Islanders in 6 games before opening up a 2-game lead over the Devils in Round 2. New Jersey helped their cause with a big win in Game 3. It’s obvious they are okay with a long series, as they ousted the Rangers in 7 games in Round 1.

Dallas Stars Vs Seattle Kraken
Kraken Lead 2-1
When: Tueday, May 9 at 9:30 pm ET

Dallas finds themselves in the same position as they were in against the Minnesota Wild in Round 1, down 2-1 after the opening 3 games. They won 3 in a row to win that series in 6. The Kraken stunned the Avalanche in 7 games and are looking to take another big scalp as they essentially play with house money.

Toronto Maple Leafs Vs Florida Panthers
Panthers Lead 3-0
When: Wednesday, May 10 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: FLA Live Arena, Sunrise, FL
TV / Streaming: ESPN
The Maple Leafs exorcised their opening round demons by beating the Tampa Bay Lightning in Round 1, but it’s beginning to look like that will be the only playoff joy they see. The Panthers won both games in Toronto and then came from 2-0 down to win Game 3, too. This series looks to be over at this point.
