It’s time to take a look at the quarterback matchups for Week 5. We’ll also give you our NFL Betting predictions for each of the games. Here goes!
NFL Week Five Quarterback Matchups and Betting Predictions
Indianapolis Colts @ Denver Broncos (-2.5)
Both of these teams have underachieved thus far in the season. They both brought in new quarterbacks that were supposed to be the missing pieces. However, both Matt Ryan and Russell Wilson haven’t lived up to expectations. We don’t know if Jonathan Taylor will play or not, but even if he does, we still like the Broncos and their stout defense in this one.
New York Giants @ Green Bay Packers (-8)
The Giants may be one of the worst 3-1 teams in league history. Even though Saquon Barkley has played well, he has been the lone bright spot for the Giants’ offense. Daniel Jones has done enough to win, but there is still a lot of doubt surrounding him. Aaron Rodgers is finally starting to have some chemistry with his young receivers. Green Bay gets the win and covers the spread.
Los Angeles Chargers (-3) @ Cleveland Browns
Justin Herbert has played well for the Chargers despite being injured. Austin Ekeler finally had a breakout game for Los Angeles. The Browns haven’t played well this season. Jacoby Brissett has played well at times, but he’s nothing spectacular. Cleveland got destroyed on the ground last week, and it will happen again this week. The Chargers win by a touchdown.
Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars (-7)
Trevor Lawrence is finally playing like the first pick of the draft. Davis Mills has been decent for the Texans. While Houston is one of the worst teams in the league, and the Jaguars have made a huge leap up the standings, we still think the Texans will give the Jags some trouble. Jacksonville wins, but doesn’t cover.
Chicago Bears @ Minnesota Vikings (-7)
Justin Fields doesn’t have a very good supporting cast, but he still takes most of the blame for the Bears anemic offense. Kirk Cousins has been one of the most highly criticized quarterbacks over the past few seasons. Cousins has a great arsenal of weapons, but he always seems to make a big mistake at a crucial time. Minnesota wins the game, but the Bears keep it within a field goal.
Detroit Lions @ New England Patriots (-3)
Bailey Zappe could get his first career start on Sunday. Jared Goff has exceeded expectations this season. If Amon-Ra St. Brown returns for the Lions, it could be huge. Even if he doesn’t, we’re starting to see the demise of the Patriots. The Lions come into Foxboro and beat the Patriots.
Seattle Seahawks @ New Orleans Saints (-5.5)
While Geno Smith has actually outplayed Russell Wilson this season, the Seahawks are still probably going to end up near the bottom of the NFC standings. We don’t know if Andy Dalton will start this weekend for the Saints, or if Jameis Winston will return, the Saints will still have some other injury concerns. The Saints will win, but won’t cover.
Miami Dolphins (-3) @ New York Jets
Zach Wilson made his return for the Jets last weekend and they beat the Steelers. It was announced on Monday that Tua Tagovailoa would miss this week’s game with concussion issues. Teddy Bridgewater will get the start for Miami. The Dolphins are the better team and will win by a touchdown.
Atlanta Falcons @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-8)
Marcus Mariota hasn’t been the answer for the Falcons. Father Time looks like he’s starting to gain some ground on Tom Brady. The Buccaneers were embarrassed in prime time by the Chiefs last Sunday. We’re looking for Brady to play well and take out his frustrations on the Falcons. Tampa by 10.
Tennessee Titans (-2.5) @ Washington Commanders
Carson Wentz hasn’t been the answer in Washington. Ryan Tannehill has been solid at best. Now that Derrick Henry is running well, it’s opening things up for the Tennessee offense. We like the Titans to win and cover in this one.
San Francisco 49ers (-5) @ Carolina Panthers
Baker Mayfield has been one of the worst quarterbacks in the league this season. Jimmy Garoppolo has played well since the Trey Lance injury. San Francisco dominated the Rams on Monday night. This may be Matt Rhule’s last game as the Panthers head coach if they lose on Sunday, and we think they’ll lose by a touchdown.
Philadelphia Eagles (-5) @ Arizona Cardinals
The Eagles look like legitimate Super Bowl contenders, while the Cardinals have had a disappointing start to the season. Jalen Hurts was given some weapons to work with, and he’s taken full advantage of the situation. Kliff Kingsbury’s offense has put Kyler Murray in some tough spots. The Eagles stay undefeated and cover the spread.
Dallas Cowboys @ Los Angeles Rams (-1)
Matthew Stafford doesn’t look right this season. Cooper Rush has looked good thus far for the Cowboys, but we could see the return of Dak Prescott. Either way, we like Dallas in this one.
Cincinnati Bengals @ Baltimore Ravens (-2.5)
Joe Burrow has been inconsistent this season. Lamar Jackson looks like the best player in the league. Baltimore blew a lead and lost to Buffalo last weekend. Baltimore will look to rebound from that loss and will beat the Bengals by a field goal.
Las Vegas Raiders @ Kansas City Chiefs (-7)
Even though they got Davante Adams, it still hasn’t seemed to pay off for Derek Carr. Patrick Mahomes doesn’t look like he’s missing Tyreek Hill too much. The Chiefs take it to the Raiders and win big.
