Pittsburgh Steelers Win/Loss Season Odds

Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin is one of the longest serving and best in history, which is why so many are excited that Tomlin has embraced former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

Russ’s time in Denver was disastrous in every way imaginable.

After parting ways with Sean Payton and the Broncos, Wilson had one destination, and that was Pittsburgh.

Can Tomlin and Wilson pair for an exciting season in Steel Town? Will Pittsburgh go over or under their win total?

Check out NFL odds on the Steelers’ win total, analysis, and a sports betting prediction.

Writer’s Predictions for the Steelers Games | Schedule Breakdown

Games the Steelers Should Win

  • Week 2 at Denver Broncos
  • Week 3 vs Los Angeles Chargers
  • Week 6 at Las Vegas Raiders
  • Week 8 vs New York Giants
  • Week 10 at Washington Commanders
  • Week 14 vs Cleveland Browns

Week 2 at Kansas City Chiefs

The Steelers should have 3 road games and 3 home games in the bag.

The Broncos, Raiders, and Commanders will be better this season than they were last season.

But Denver, Vegas, and D.C. aren’t as good or deep as the Pittsburgh Steelers.

More importantly, none of the three teams boast a quarterback with as much experience as Wilson or defenses even close to what Tomlin will field.

When it comes to the Steelers home wins, we’re on the fence regarding the Browns and Chargers.

Yes, those two games made the cut, and Pittsburgh should beat both, but the Bolts and the Browns are quality clubs.

Each has a quarterback that should find success versus Tomlin’s defense while every QB in the league struggles against Myles Garrett and the Browns’ D and Jim Harbaugh always focuses on a strong defense.

The Giants should be Pittsburgh’s one easy victory of the NFL season.

Circle the game as the one to back the Steelers against the spread.

Games the Steelers Have to Win

The four games that will determine whether the Steelers go over or under their win total.

Week 7 vs New York Jets

Because Pittsburgh is at home, Wilson and the offense should have some success versus Hasson Reddick, Quinnen Williams, and the vaunted Jets’ defense.

But even if the Steelers score some points, the Jets project as the winner.

If Aaron Rodgers, Garrett Wilson, Mike Williams, and Breece Hall are all healthy, T.J.

Watt and his mates will be in some trouble.

Also, rumor is the J-E-T-S is making a play for Raiders’ receiver Davante Adams.

If Adams and Rodgers pair up, forget it.

The Jets roll.

Prediction: Jets win

Week 11 vs Baltimore Ravens

Pittsburgh always plays tough against the Ravens.

Not only that, but Tomlin is a master at getting his D ready to take on Lamar and the Ravens.

Pittsburgh beat Baltimore twice last season.

The Steelers won both games 17-10.

Since this game takes place in Pittsburgh, the Steelers should continue their dominance over the Ravens.

Prediction: Steelers win

Week 12 at Cleveland Browns

Pittsburgh beat Cleveland once and lost to the Browns in the rematch.

The loss was in a 13-10 game, which should give Pittsburgh fans reason to believe they can sweep Cleveland in 2024.

But the Browns should have a better offense because Deshaun Watson is healthy and former Bronco Jerry Jeudy has joined the receiving corps.

If Watson plays in this game, the Browns should get it done. But they won’t.

Tomlin has an excellent record versus AFC North opponents.

Give the Steelers another division win.

Prediction: Steelers win

Week 18 vs Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals are one of this season’s top Super Bowl contenders.

As always, the Bengals’ fortunes rest in Joe Burrow’s often injury riddled body.

If Cool Joe remains healthy, the Stripes will make it to the playoffs.

If not, the Bengals will, once again, remain on the outside looking in.

In the glass half full scenario, Cincinnati will rest Joe in NFL Week 18, which means Pittsburgh, who will be fighting for a wild card, gets the win.

Prediction: Steelers win

Pittsburgh Steelers Win/Loss Final Betting Analysis

Pittsburgh wins 3 of the above 4 games to go over the total.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will win 9 games this season to finish 9-8.

Although 9-8 may or may not be good enough to make the playoffs, it will be good enough for the Steelers to go over the 8.5 win total.

The odds on over are a decent +122.

So if you agree, make sure to bet early before the Steelers begin their training camp.

Once word gets out that Russell Wilson is back to his old self, the payout odds on Pittsburgh’s win total could flip.

So make sure to grab the decent possible payout while you can.

Pittsburgh Steelers Odds 2023: Calendar’s Betting Analysis for Home/Away Opponents

Previous Betting News

Games are not won and lost until the players step onto the field and go head-to-head, but that doesn’t stop any of us fans from projecting how things might go months prior to the start of the new NFL season. Those thoughts can change from day to day, especially once we get into free agency and the draft, as the moves made then might well change your perspective on how you think they will do once the regular season rolls around. It really is all just a crapshoot right now, though, as there are so many other factors that come into play when trying to handicap games. We will have a better handle on things once the official schedule is released, but we can at least look at who each team will face to try and get an idea on how they might fare. Let’s take a look at the NFL betting analysis for who the Pittsburgh Steelers will be facing this coming season.

2023 Analysis of Team-By-Team Opponents without Calendar: Pittsburgh Steelers – Home/Away

Home

As always, the Steelers will be at home against their three AFC North Division rivals, the Bengals, Browns, and Ravens. As hard as it may seem to believe, all 4 teams went 3-3 in divisional play last season, giving you an idea of just how evenly matched this group is. The Steelers went 4-4 at home on their way to a 9-8 record overall. Let’s take a quick look at their other home games coming this season.

It’s not the easiest home schedule, but they do have a winnable one against the Arizona Cardinals (4-13, 3-5). The Packers (8-9, 3-5) will come to town without Aaron Rodgers under center, so who knows what to expect from them. The resurgent Jacksonville Jaguars (9-8, 4-5) will pay a visit, while Pittsburgh will renew hostilities with the New England Patriots (8-9, 4-5).

The final 2 home games on the schedule are both tough, with the San Francisco 49ers (13-4, 5-3) and the Tennessee Titans (7-10, 4-5) set to pay a visit to the Steel City.

Bet Pittsburgh Steelers to Win Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Game

Away

The Steelers have the benefit of an extra home game this season, but they were pretty decent on the road in 2022, going 5-4 away from home. Again, 3 of their rod games will come against the Bengals, Browns, and Ravens, as always, but let’s look at where else Pittsburgh will travel this coming season.

This is a schedule that seems more than manageable for the Steelers, at least based on what these teams did last season. They will face the Houston Texans (3-13-1, 0-7-1), the Indianapolis Colts (4-12-1, 2-6), and the Las Vegas Raiders (6-11, 4-4), a team that is going to look different this coming season.

The Steelers will also have road games against the rebuilding LA Rams (5-12, 4-5) and the Seattle Seahawks (9-8, 5-4).

This is a much easier schedule for the Steelers than what they had last season, so perhaps we can expect a return to the playoffs for Pittsburgh. They have been busy in free agency and tend to always do well in the draft, so this might well be a team that you want to keep an eye on heading into the 2023 season.

2022 Pittsburgh Steelers Win/Loss Betting Prediction for the Upcoming NFL Season

Previous Betting News

Not many NFL handicappers believe the Pittsburgh Steelers will win the deep AFC North. The Steelers are fourth choice based on odds, which means oddsmakers believe Pittsburgh finishes last in the division. Negative sentiment regarding the Steelers’ chances is why Pittsburgh offers one of its lowest win-loss totals in the past five seasons. Pittsburgh’s game total is 7 ½. Check out a Steelers NFL Win Loss Total Betting analysis and prediction.

Steelers 2022 NFL Season Betting Prediction: Win/Loss Record

2022-23 NFL Regular Season

When: Sep. 8, 2022 – Jan. 8, 2023
Pittsburgh Steelers Total Win-Loss Total Odds: 7 ½

Why the Pittsburgh Steelers will win more than 7 games

The Steelers’ have a great quarterback situation. Kenny Pickett, the first round pick from Pitt, has taken third-string snaps. So Pickett won’t start right away.

But that’s a good thing. Mitch Trubisky has plenty of starting experience. Under offensive coordinator Matt Canada, Trubisky will be counted on to not make mistakes, hand the ball off the Najee Harris, and keep the seat warm for when Pickett is ready.

Expect Kenny to get snaps later in the season. So if Trubisky can maintain, the Steelers should be in a good position to go over the win-loss total.

Another reason to like the over? Head coach Mike Tomlin committed to free safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. The former Alabama star recorded 84 solo tackles, 2 interceptions, a forced fumble, and 7 pass defenses last season.

Fitzpatrick plays behind a front seven that includes 2021 NFL Defensive Player of the Year T.J. Watt. If Watt comes close to the 22 ½ sacks he had last season, Pittsburgh’s D will be one of the most fearsome in the league.

Why the Pittsburgh Steelers won’t win more than 7 games

Trubisky has starter experience, but the former number one pick is a journeyman quarterback. He doesn’t have the on field skills to lead the Steelers to more than 3 to 4 wins.

The AFC North plays the AFC East where Buffalo, Miami, and New England play. The Bills, Dolphins, and Patriots are playoff caliber teams.

So are the Buccaneers and Saints, the Colts and the Raiders. The schedule is difficult for sure, which means at least once or twice this season the Steelers will have to count on their quarterback to win the game for them.

Pickett could become a great NFL quarterback, but he’s a rookie. So unless Pickett develops the way Mac Jones did for the New England Patriots last season, the Steelers will find it difficult to win games 7 and 8.

Final Betting Analysis: Will the Pittsburgh Steelers win at least 8 games?

Based on the schedule and questions at quarterback, it doesn’t look like the Steelers will win 8 games. But this is Pittsburgh where Mike Tomlin is in charge.

Tomlin is the NFL’s best head coach. He game plans as well as anyone. If Tomlin and Canada decide to start Trubisky, we can be sure there will be an offensive plan in place to make it easy for Mitch.

If Tomlin decides to start Pickett, we can be sure a plan will be in place to ensure Kenny succeeds. It helps that Najee Harris is one of the most talented running backs in the league, the offensive line is good, and the defense is very good.

Pittsburgh is one of the few teams in the NFL that can win games based solely on coaching. Mike Tomlin will ensure the Steelers are in the hunt for the AFC North title in the final month, which means over is the play.

Pittsburgh Steelers Win Loss Total Pick: Over 7 ½

NFL 2021 Pittsburgh Steelers Win/Loss Odds Analysis and Betting Prediction

Previous Betting News

We can look at the rosters that NFL teams have put together ahead of the new season and come up with predictions for how things might go in 2021. As we have seen in the past, though, predictions very often go right out the window, as you never really know what a team is going to do until they hit the field and start playing games. There are a few teams that are a bit of a mystery heading into this season, with the Pittsburgh Steelers very much in that list. Salary cap issues called for big changes in the offseason, with the question now being whether they have adequately filled the holes that opened up. Let’s take a closer look at the Steelers and their NFL Team Totals odds.

Pittsburgh Steelers Win/Loss Betting Odds and Prediction for the 2021-22 Season

Steelers Divisional and Playoff Chances

The biggest issue for Pittsburgh heading into the 2021 season is that they are playing in an AFC North Division that is home to a pair of teams – Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns – who are expected to be playoff bound. The Steelers won the division last season, largely because they started with 11 straight wins, but they cooled off in a big way coming down the stretch. They have lost a few key players, but they have Big Ben returning for one more season, as well as a defense that is arguably the best in the league.

The Steelers are in at +350 to win the AFC North, and while they are certainly not rank outsiders, the bookies do have them sitting in behind both the Ravens and the Browns, which is about what you would expect. Three teams coming out of the division is not impossible, especially now with 7 teams in each conference making the postseason. As it stands now, the Steelers are at +160 to make the playoffs.

Steelers 2021 Schedule and Win Total

Steelers fans are not going to need to wait long to see what their team is made of, as they will open up on the road against the Buffalo Bills. That’s a tough start, but with the Bengals and Raiders up after that, they will have a chance to get a couple of wins under their belt. You do have to say that through the opening 11 weeks of the season, Pittsburgh has a shot at picking up some easy wins, but things get tougher after that.

The Ravens, twice, Browns, Chiefs, and Titans are all in the schedule for the final few weeks, making the run in at the end of the season a tough one. That is the set of games that is likely to make or break the chances of the Steelers making the playoffs. They are really going to need their defense to step up as big as they did last season, while hoping that their makeshift O-Line can get the job done.

The Steelers Over/Under for the season is set at 8 ½ and it is a tough one to play. This is a team that could win as many as 10 games or as few as 6. That defense is going to keep them in a lot of games, though, so I am tempted to lean towards the OVER, albeit only just.

Pittsburgh Steelers 2019 NFL Season Win/Loss Total Odds & Betting Prediction

Previous Betting News

One year after going an impressive 13-3 and narrowly losing to Jacksonville in the divisional round, the Pittsburgh Steelers took a step backwards in winning a more modest nine games and never reaching the playoffs. Now, as they get set for the upcoming 2019 regular season, the Steelers are hoping to get back to being a legitimate Super Bowl contender, but things will be a lot different with Pittsburgh jettisoning Pro Bowl running back Le’Veon Bell after he sat out the entire 2019 season while also parting ways with disgruntled Pro Bowl wide receiver Antonio Brown.

If you’re an NFL fan and betting enthusiast that wants to know just how many games the Steelers are going to win this coming season so you could potentially cash in on the value-packed NFL Win Total Odds, then you’ve come to the right place! Thanks to the expert NFL predictions that you’re about to get on each and every game on Pittsburgh’s upcoming 2019 docket, you’re going to have a great idea of just how many games the Steelers will win this coming season.

The Steelers finished the 2018 season ranked an encouraging seventh in scoring (26.8 ppg) while also ranking a modest 17th in points allowed (22.5 ppg). Without Bell’s services, Pittsburgh ranked a discouraging 31st in rushing.

To address their offseason needs, Pittsburgh drafted Michigan linebacker Devin Bush with the 10t overall pick before adding Toledo wide receiver Diontae Johnson and Michigan State cornerback Justin Layne, both in the third round. The Steelers also added former Rams linebacker Mark Barron, former Jaguars wideout Donte Moncrief and former Chiefs wide receiver Steven Nelson in free agency.

Pittsburgh Steelers 2019 NFL Season Win/Loss Total Odds & Betting Prediction

Week 1 at New England

Tom Brady has bested Ben Roethlisberger 10 times in 14 career meetings. This regular season opener will make it 11 wins for Tom terrific. Loss. 0-1.

Week 2 vs Seattle

The Steelers might be playing at home, but I think Seattle wins this matchup based on the fact that the Seahawks have the better defense – and quarterback! Loss. 0-2.

Week 3 at San Francisco

After dropping their first two games of the season Pittsburgh will be desperate and they’re going to make the rebuilding Niners pay in this Week 3 inter-conference clash. Win. 1-2.

Week 4 vs Cincinnati

With Vontaze Burfict gone, who’s going to deliver all those cheap shots for Cincinnati? Pittsburgh takes care of business at home to bag their third straight win over Cincinnati. Win. 2-2.

Week 5 vs Baltimore

The Steelers and Ravens split their two regular season meetings a year ago with both teams winning on the road. This time around, these two rivals split again with the home team winning each time. Win. 3-2.

Week 6 at LA Chargers

The Steelers were on the wrong end of a narrow 33-30 home loss to the Bolts in Week 13 a year ago and I believe Pittsburgh is going down again to a Chargers team with legitimate Super Bowl hopes – again. Loss. 3-3.

Week 7 BYE

Week 8 vs Miami

I’m expecting the Steelers to almost literally blow the Dolphins out of the water in this Week 8 mismatch. Win. 4-3.

Week 9 vs Indianapolis

While Andrew Luck is definitely better than Big Ben these days, I like Pittsburgh to take care of business to get the hard-fought win at home. Win. 5-3.

Week 10 vs LA Rams

The Steelers just don’t have enough offensive firepower to beat Los Angeles, even at home. Loss. 5-4.

Week 11 at Cleveland

After recording a 21-21 tie against the Steelers in their regular season opener a year ago, the revamped Browns take out their AFC North rivals at home in a thriller. Loss. 5-5.

Week 12 at Cincinnati

I’m thinking everyone should be breaking out their brooms for this Week 12 rematch. Win. 6-5.

Week 13 vs Cleveland

Pittsburgh gets the huge home win as part of a split against the new-look Browns. Win. 7-5.

Week 14 at Arizona

The Cards will be a lot better in 2019 with Kliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray now forming the foundation for success in the desert. Unfortunately, Arizona still won’t be good enough to beat what I expect to be a focused Steelers team in this Week 14 matchup as Pittsburgh looks to improve its playoff hopes. Win, 8-5.

Week 15 vs Buffalo

Now, back at home with their playoff lives on the line, the Steelers spank the Bills to move a step closer to recording double-digit victories. Win. 9-5.

Week 16 at NY Jets

I like Sam Darnold a lot and I believe the Jets are definitely heading in the right direction. Unfortunately, it won’t be enough to help New York win this contest. Win. 10-5.

Week 17 at Baltimore

Simply put, I like Baltimore to get the win here as part of what looks like a regular season split against their longtime division rivals. Loss. 10-6.

I’ve got the Steelers recording 10 wins to narrowly top their 2019 win total odds, but it’s going to be quite close. Losing two players the caliber of Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown means the Steelers could be set to take a step backwards in 2019. Still, I’m thinking the combination of Ben Roethlisberger and Mike Tomlin will be enough to help the Steelers reach the double-digit win mark this coming season.

Pittsburgh Steelers 2018 NFL Win/Loss Odds Prediction

Previous Betting News

The Pittsburgh Steelers may have come up short of their Super Bowl hopes a year ago, but the virtually perennial playoff participants will enter 2018 as one of the top favorites to represent the AFC when Super Bowl 5 rolls around early next year. If you’re looking to make a potentially, bankroll-boosting bet on Pittsburgh’s regular season win total odds and you need a bit of expert insight to help you make your wager, then you’re going to be able to maximize your chances of doing just that thanks to the expert betting analysis and predictions that you’re about to get on every game on Pittsburgh’s 2018 schedule. Now, let’s find out what lies ahead for the Steelers this coming season.

Pittsburgh Steelers 2018 NFL Win/Loss Odds Prediction

Pittsburgh Steelers Regular Season Win Total Odds – 10.5

Week 1: Sunday, Sept. 9, at Cleveland Browns, 1 p.m. ET

While I’m expecting Cleveland to be one of the most improved teams in the league in 2018, I’ve got to believe the Steelers are going to be focused in their regular season opener against a team they have to feel like they should beat. Pittsburgh has won nine of their last 10 against Cleveland. Win. 1-0.

Week 2: Sunday, Sept. 16, vs. Kansas City Chiefs, 1 p.m. ET

The Steelers are the pick to get the win in Week 2 because they’re home and playing a first-time starting quarterback in the inexperienced Patrick Mahomes. Win. 2-0.

Week 3: Monday, Sept. 24, at Tampa Bay Bucs, 8:15 p.m. ET

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times, the Buccaneers should have never brought back head coach Dirk Koetter. Tampa Bay is going down hard in this Week 3 Inter-Conference clash! Win 3-0.

Week 4: Sunday, Sept. 30, vs. Baltimore Ravens, 8:20 p.m. ET

Baltimore won’t go down easily in this Week 4 AFC North divisional matchup, but I expect the Ravens to suffer a narrow road loss in this one. Mostly because of their modest offense. Win. 4-0.

Week 5: Sunday, Oct. 7, vs. Atlanta Falcons, 1 p.m. ET

The Steelers aren’t going to win all of their home games and after going 4-0 to start the season, the Steelers will be due for a loss in this one against a Falcons team that will be pretty elite on both sides of the ball in 2018. Loss. 4-1.

Week 6: Sunday, Oct. 14, at Cincinnati Bengals, 1 p.m. ET

The Steelers have won eight of nine games in Paul Brown Stadium since 2010, but I’m feeling like an improved – and underrated – Cincy team is going to hand Pittsburgh a big-time loss in this divisional showdown. Loss. 4-2.

Week 7: BYE

Week 8: Sunday, Oct. 28, vs. Cleveland Browns, 1 p.m.

The Browns won’t go down easily in their second meeting of the season against Pittsburgh, but I’m expecting the Steelers to be a bit desperate to snap a two-game skid in this one! Win. 5-2.

Week 9: Sunday, Nov. 4, at Baltimore Ravens, 1 p.m.

I like Baltimore’s defense a lot, but the Ravens will be mediocre at best offensively in 2018 (again) and that will cause them to fall at home to a Steelers team with a comparable defense – and far better offense. Win. 6-2.

Week 10: Thursday, Nov. 8, vs. Carolina Panthers, 8:20 p.m.

The Steelers are Panthers are two very evenly matched Super Bowl hopefuls, so the smart money here is on Pittsburgh to hold it down at home by a field goal. Win. 7-2.

Week 11: Sunday, Nov. 18, at Jacksonville Jaguars, 8:20 p.m.

The Steelers got completely stunned by the Jags in their embarrassing 30-9 Week 5 home loss before getting stunned again in their 45-42 AFC divisional playoff loss at home in a game that wasn’t nearly as close as the final score indicates. I’m thinking Jacksonville has Pittsburgh’s number right about now! Loss. 7-3.

Week 12: Sunday, Nov. 25, at Denver Broncos, 4:25 p.m. ET

Denver will most definitely be better offensively in 2018 now that they’ve got a competent quarterback in Case Keenum. However, I think the Broncos’ loss of defensive coordinator Wade Phillips is going to haunt the Broncos for years to come. Denver will be at home, but Pittsburgh will be semi-desperate following their Week 11 road loss at Jacksonville. Win. 8-3.

Week 13: Sunday, Dec. 2, vs. Los Angeles Chargers, 1 p.m. ET

The Chargers have the best pair of pass rushers in the league and are expecting to really contend for a playoff spot in 2018 behind veteran gunslinger Philip Rivers. Still, I’m sensing Pittsburgh will be super focused by this point of the season and will find a way to get the narrow home win. 9-3.

Week 14: Sunday, Dec. 9, at Oakland Raiders, 8:20 p.m. ET

Did you know that Pittsburgh has won seven straight prime-time games? The Steelers will be locked and loaded against a raiders team that will be good in 2018, but not great. Win. 10-3.

Week 15: Sunday, Dec. 16, vs. New England Patriots, 4:25 p.m. ET

The Steelers are hoping to reach the Super Bowl in 2018, but if they have to play the Patriots to get there, it’s not happening! Pittsburgh has lost five straight games to New England dating back to 2013. Despite being at home, I sense another loss looming. Loss. 10-4.

Week 16: Sunday, Dec. 23, at New Orleans Saints, 4:25 p.m. ET

The Steelers are going down in back-to-back games against legitimate Super Bowl hopefuls as they fail to stop Drew Bree and the high-powered saints offense. Loss. 10-5.

Week 17: Sunday, Dec. 30, vs. Cincinnati Bengals, 1 p.m. ET

Record: The Steelers will need this game to ensure they get a favorable seed in the AFC playoffs and they’ll get the win in a hard-fought battle against their division rivals. Win. 11-5.

I’ve got the Steelers winning 11 games to narrowly top their 2018 win total odds. However, I will admit that this figure represents one of the toughest win total odds on the board this coming season. I like the Over, but it’s going to be close!

Pittsburgh Steelers 2017 NFL Season Win Total Prediction & Betting Odds

Previous Betting News

The Pittsburgh Steelers might have been the second-best team in the AFC last year and in fact reached the conference title game. The problem is that New England was so far superior to the Steelers that the gap between the two doesn’t seem close. Can Pittsburgh upset the Pats this year and reach the Super Bowl? The NFL odds at MyBookie have the Pittsburgh Steelers as top betting favorites in the 2017 season.

Pittsburgh Steelers 2017 NFL Season Win Total Prediction & Betting Odds

2016 Season Recap

To begin with, Pittsburgh won the AFC North with an 11-5 record. The Steelers beat Miami 30-12 in the wild-card round as Le’Veon Bell ran for a franchise postseason record 167 yards and two scores. They led by two touchdowns before the game was 10 minutes old on long touchdown passes from QB Ben Roethlisberger to Antonio Brown. Miami never got closer than 11.

On the contrary, in the divisional round, the Steelers didn’t score a touchdown but won in Kansas City 18-16. Chris Boswell hit an NFL playoff-record six field goals. But theybecame the first team to win a playoff game without a TD since eventual Super Bowl champion Indianapolis in the 2006 AFC divisional round at Baltimore.

However, in the AFC title game, Pittsburgh was outclassed 36-17 at New England. First of all theylost Bell late in the first quarter to a groin injury. The 19-point loss ended the Steelers’ nine-game winning streak. The franchise that has won the most Super Bowls, six, and the most postseason games, 36, never seemed likely to challenge in the misty rain.

Will Bell Hold Out?

At the present time, one big question with training camp approaching is if Bell, arguably the NFL’s best all-around running back, will hold out for a new contract. Bell, 25, was slapped with the exclusive-rights franchise tag in February, but has yet to sign the tender. And he did not attend OTAs or mandatory minicamp, but cannot be fined because he has not yet signed a contract.

In the meantime, Pittsburgh has until July 17 to reach a long-term deal with Bell. He would play at $12.1 million this season under the franchise tag. Bell had 1,884 yards from scrimmage and nine touchdowns in 12 games last season for the Steelers. He also added 75 receptions.

Final Season For Big Ben?

Initially, Roethlisberger made news this offseason about possibly retiring, although few actually believed him. It’s possible he could walk away after this season however with the beatings he has taken in his career. According to former Steelers offensive lineman Willie Colon, that talk of retirement was serious.

Colon said, “I was at (former Steelers owner and chairman) Dan Rooney’s funeral in Pittsburgh and I got to sit down and talk to (Roethlisberger), and one thing he told me is he did take it seriously. He’s dealt with a lot of injuries.”

Colon was an offensive lineman for the Steelers from 2006-12, playing right tackle for most of his tenure. He said that his former peers along the line could play a critical role in how long Roethlisberger continues to play.

The 35-year-old has been Pittsburgh’s starting quarterback since 2004, leading the team to nine playoff appearances and two Super Bowl wins in 13 years. He has also taken a beating from opposing defenses, only playing all 16 games in three seasons.

Shazier Hopeful Of Health

One of the Steelers’ best defensive players is linebacker Ryan Shazier, but the former Ohio State star simply has trouble staying on the field too. Shazier has proven his talent through three years in the league, but he has managed just 34 total games and has yet to play more than 13 in a season. With Lawrence Timmons gone, Shazier’s health will be even more important moving forward.

“Your best ability is availability,” Shazier said. “[Playing a full season] would just show my consistency of being able to be a playmaker for this team … show people in the league that I can be a dynamic player.”

On the other hand. when Shazier plays, good things happen. For instance, his two forced fumbles and 13 tackles sparked the Pittsburgh Steelers’ wild-card victory in Cincinnati after the 2015 season. Not to mentionhis four consecutive games with an interception late last season helped secure playoff wins over Miami and Kansas City.

Pittsburgh Steelers Futures Odds

Final 2017 Pittsburgh Steelers Season Prediction

As has been mentioned, Roethlisberger has been playingsignificantly better at home last year than on the road. To tell the truth, the only chance I give this team of reaching a Super Bowl, then, would be to get the AFC’s top seed. In other words, at a minimum, the Steelers would have to beat the visiting Patriots in Week 15.

Anyway, as a final point. go over the wins total and the Steelers win the division again but that’s as far as I’ll go depending on seed.

Previous Betting News

The Pittsburgh Steelers could have the NFL’s best offense this season as they might have the league’stop quarterback/running back/receiving trio in Ben Roethlisberger, Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown. Willthat translate to more wins? The Steelers have a wins total of 10.5 on online NFL odds, with the over a slightfavorite.

Here’s an Inside Look at the 2016 Pittsburgh Steelers Season Win Total Predictions

Total Win/Loss Odds Overview?

Brown’s value to the team was never more evident than in the final game of the Steelers’ season, a lossin the divisional round to the eventual Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos. Pittsburgh still led goinginto the fourth quarter, but its offense was a shell of itself without the record-setting Brown. The teamalso lost Bell early on to a season-ending injury.

Why Betting On The Over?

It’s almost scary to think of what Brown would have done if Roethlisberger didn’t get hurt in 2015 andmiss a few games. Brown, who finished with a career-best 1,834 receiving yards, likely would havebecome the first 2,000-yard receiver in NFL history. In the three games started by Michael Vick, Brownposted just 111 yards on 11 catches. Despite Roethlisberger’s absences, Brown still set a host of leagueand team records. His 265 catches in 2014 and 2015 were the most in a two-year span in NFL historyand he’s also the only player with back-to- back 125-catch seasons.

This year, the Steelers are hoping to use Bell and DeAngelo Williams, who played very well when Bellwas hurt in 2015, on the field at the same time. Bell was on pace for more than 1,800 yards of totaloffense before sustaining the knee injury, but Williams was able to keep the Steelers’; ground gamemoving without their All-Pro, scoring 11 rushing touchdowns and coming close to breaking the 1,000-yard mark. Roethlisberger revealed the team was looking to incorporate more creative packages withBell and Williams last season, but the loss of Bell scuttled those plans.

Using two tailbacks would force a pass-catcher off the field, but Big Ben doesn’t see that as a problembecause of Bell’s extraordinary versatility.

“You could count Le’Veon as a wide receiver, the way he catches, what he can do,”Roethlisberger said.

“You put them both in the backfield, you split them out, you do whatever you want with them. I justthink the possibilities are endless because they’re very smart players and can bring a lot to the table forus.”

Why Betting On The Under?

The Steelers have lost No. 2 receiver Martavis Bryant, who was second on the team last year in targets, and tight end Heath Miller. Bryant is suspended for all of 2016 and Miller retired. After returning fromhis four-game suspension to start last year, Bryant had a productive 2015 season for the Steelers, hauling in 50 receptions for 765 yards and six touchdowns in 11 games. Pittsburgh’s decision to signreceiver Darrius Heyward-Bey to a three-year extension was a direct result of Bryant’s potential absencein 2016. Pittsburgh also signed tight end Ladarius Green to a four-year, $20 million deal.

Miller called it quits after 11 seasons. Miller, 33, validated his status as a 2005 first-round pick with 592receptions, 6,569 yards and 45 receiving touchdowns — all franchise highs for the tight end position. He’s one of four Steelers to catch at least 500 passes. His career catches and yardage totals rank in thetop four among tight ends in the period since he was drafted. For years, Roethlisberger’s safety valveover the middle of the field was Miller. That’s gone now. But perhaps Green can replace most of hisproduction. In 2015, Green established single-season career bests in receptions (37), receiving yards(429) and touchdown receptions (4), as he started 11-of- 13 games played.
