Stanley Cup Playoff Betting Matchups to Look Out for on Monday

Last night, three of the four NHL playoff games hit the over as we moved one game closer to finding out who will move one step closer to claiming Lord Stanley’s Cup and paying out on the NHL Stanley Cup odds

In the Eastern Conference, the Boston Bruins defeated the Florida Panthers 6-2, while the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the New York Islanders 5-2, both taking 3-1 series leads. Over in the Western Conference, we’re all tied up at 2-2 after the Dallas Stars defeated the Minnesota Wild 3-2, while the Edmonton Oilers escaped Los Angeles with a 5-4 overtime win.

Let’s preview Monday’s four Stanley Cup playoff matchups and make picks for who will win each game.

Stanley Cup Playoff Betting Matchups to Look Out for on Monday

NHL Playoffs Start: Monday, April 17, 2023
Stanley Cup Final Start: Saturday, June 3, 2023

New Jersey Devils vs New York Rangers

NHL Odds: New Jersey Devils (+125) vs New York Rangers (-152)
When: Monday, March 24, 2023 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: Madison Square Garden, New York City, New York
TV / Streaming: ESPN

After looking lost and not ready for the spotlight on home ice in the first two games of the playoffs, the New Jersey Devils’ odds of winning the Stanley Cup dropped to +2200. On the other hand, the New York Rangers are currently listed at +940 to win the Stanley Cup even after losing game two 2-1 in overtime, holding a 2-1 lead in the series.

The Devils have only scored four goals in the playoffs against the Rangers Igor Shesterkin, and we expect this trend to continue. We’re taking the playoff-experienced New York Rangers to take a 3-1 series lead on home ice with a win tonight.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs Tampa Bay Lightning

NHL Odds: Toronto Maple Leafs (-110) vs Tampa Bay Lightning (-110)
When: Monday, March 24, 2023 at 7:30 pm ET
Where: Amalie Arena, Tampa, Florida
TV / Streaming: TBS

The Toronto Maple Leafs are the third-favored team to win the Stanley Cup, currently listed at +710. The three-time defending Eastern Conference champion Tampa Bay Lightning are listed at +3100.

The first two games were blowouts, while game three was a physical affair, with Toronto winning game three 4-3 in overtime. Notably, all three games of this series have hit the over.

We’re expecting this series to be back and forth, reaching six or seven games. We’re taking the Lightning to even this series with a win on home ice in game four.

Vegas Golden Knights vs Winnipeg Jets

NHL Odds: Vegas Golden Knights (-110) vs Winnipeg Jets (-110)
When: Monday, March 24, 2023 at 9:30 pm ET
Where: Canada Life Centre, Winnipeg, Canada
TV / Streaming: TBS

The most physical series in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs is our second game of the night, with both teams listed at the same odds. After splitting lopsided wins in games one and two, game three featured the Winnipeg Jets tying the game in the last minute to force overtime, only for the Vegas Golden Knights to get a bounce and win game three 5-4 in double overtime.

Vegas is listed at +1100 to win the Stanley Cup and holds a 5-1 head-to-head series lead over Winnipeg this season. But Connor Hellebuyck alone might be enough to make the Jets to win the Stanley Cup at +5400 to pay out.

We’re taking Hellebuyck and the Jets to win on home ice and even the series at 2-2.

Colorado Avalanche vs Seattle Kraken

NHL Odds: Colorado Avalanche (-151) vs Seattle Kraken (+123)
When: Monday, March 24, 2023 at 10:00 pm ET
Where: Climate Pledge Arena, Seattle, Washington
TV / Streaming: ESPN

The Seattle Kraken were among the highest-scoring teams in the NHL this season but are among the long shots to win the Stanley Cup at +7500 odds. The defending Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche are listed at +590 to win back-to-back championships, trailing only the mighty Boston Bruins.

The Avs and Kraken have split the season series 3-3 this season, while the road team has won five of the six games.

More importantly, we don’t think Seattle’s goaltending will be good enough to get the Kraken their first home playoff win in franchise history. We’re taking the Avs to win on the moneyline.
