NFL Week 18: Saturday, January 28th – Sunday, January 7th, 2023

NFL Week 18 Power Rankings By Team

1. Baltimore Ravens 13-3

The Ravens followed up a smashing 33-19 road victory over the San Francisco 49ers with a 56-19 win against Miami. The Ravens head into the playoffs the NFL’s best team.

2. San Francisco 49ers 12-4

San Francisco’s 27-10 win against Washington was a nice bounce back effort. It also secures the top seed in the NFC Playoffs.

3. Dallas Cowboys 11-5

After a wild NFL Week 17, the Boys are -1400 to win the NFC East, this Sunday, secure a 2-seed, and host a playoff game.

4. Detroit Lions 11-5

Who knows what happened on the Lions’ 2-point attempt against the Cowboys? Detroit says one thing and the refs say something different. In any case, Detroit will still host a playoff game.

5. Cleveland Browns 11-5

The Browns are a Super Bowl contender. Joe Flacco has thrown interceptions, but his leadership can’t be overstated. Also, no team heads to the playoffs with as good of a defense as Cleveland’s.

6. Buffalo Bills 10-6

Miami and Philadelphia have a better record by a game, but the Bills are playing much better football. Buffalo is a favorite over Miami on Sunday even though the Bills are the road team.

7. Miami Dolphins 11-5

The Dolphins rank ahead of the Eagles by default. Why? Because although the Fins lost via a blowout, the defeat came on the road against the best team in the NFL, the Ravens. Philly fell to the Arizona Cardinals.

8. Philadelphia Eagles 11-5

Philadelphia didn’t just lose to the Cardinals. The Eagles lost to Arizona after building a 21-6 halftime lead. A win over the Giants on Sunday is no lock.

9. Los Angeles Rams 9-7

Kevin Havrisik missed a couple of extra points in the Rams’ 26-25 victory over the Giants. Sean McVay cut Havrisik and resigned Brett Maher on Monday. The Rams have made the playoffs. If Maher can settle the kicking ship, the Rams will have a legit shot of winning the Super Bowl because the offense is great, and the defense has improved big time.

10. Kansas City Chiefs 10-6

It’s too early to write off the Chiefs. This is especially true because Mecole Hardman is back. But the AFC is deep. So KC has their work cut out for them.

11. Jacksonville Jaguars 9-7

We must rank the Jaguars ahead of the Colts, Steelers, and Texans because Jacksonville beat Carolina 26-0, which was a nice bounce back win.

12. Indianapolis Colts 9-7

The Colts host Houston on Saturday. The winner has a great shot of making it to the playoffs. The loser heads to the offseason.

13. Pittsburgh Steelers 9-7

Because John Harbaugh is likely to sit many of his starters, Pittsburgh is a favorite against the Ravens in NFL Week 18. A win puts the Steelers into a decent position for a playoff berth.

14. Houston Texans 9-7

Houston must upset the Colts and then hope the Jaguars fall to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. If that happens, C.J. Stroud will be a playoff quarterback in his first season.

15. Green Bay Packers 8-8

Green Bay’s win against the Vikings in Minnesota is notable because the Packers scored 33 against a Brian Flores coached defense. Per ESPN, Green Bay has a 69% chance of making the playoffs.

16. New Orleans Saints 8-8

Even though the Saints rank ahead of Tampa because they beat the Buccaneers in NFL Week 17, Baker Mayfield and his mates have the much better shot of winning the NFC South.

17. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 8-8

New Orleans faces Atlanta at home. Tampa takes on the Panthers on the road. The Buccaneers should bounce back with a  big win over Carolina that will lead to an NFC South title.

18. Cincinnati Bengals 8-8

Cincinnati blew a lead over the Kansas City Chiefs, which is why the Bengals won’t be playing in the NFL postseason.

19. Denver Broncos 8-8

The issue for Denver is what to do with Russell Wilson’s contract. No team is going to touch Russ considering how the Broncos set up the contract.

20. Seattle Seahawks 8-8

All the Seahawks had to do was beat Pittsburgh at home. Now the Seahawks are up against it to make the playoffs.

21. Chicago Bears 7-9

If Chicago is smart, they parlay the top pick in the NFL Draft into a bevy of picks, draft Washington WR Romeo Odunze later in the first round, and roll with Justin Fields at QB.

22. Minnesota Vikings 7-9

Minnesota is already in offseason mode. Kevin O’Connell must find a way to acquire a quarterback because it’s doubtful the Vikings resign Kirk Cousins.

23. Atlanta Falcons 7-9

Atlanta has some building blocks. However, after a decent start to the season, the Falcons imploded, which is a bad sign for 2024.

24. Las Vegas Raiders 7-9

Antonio Pierce deserves the top job in Vegas. That is, Pierce deserves it if the Raiders can’t convince Jim Harbaugh or Bill Belichick to take the position.

25. New York Jets 6-10

The Jets are already planning for next season. The top priority is a left tackle so that J-E-T-S can move Mekhi Becton to the right side.

26. New York Giants 5-11

No team in the NFL has as many quarterbacks on the roster with mediocre talent. The Giants must shore up the QB position this offseason.

27. Los Angeles Chargers 5-11

If Bill Belichick or Jim Harbaugh lands with Bolts, watch out. The Chargers will still have one of the most talented rosters in the NFL in 2024.

28. Arizona Cardinals 4-12

Arizona rallied big time to punch the Eagles in the mouth. The Cardinals, like so many teams with bad records, try hard and have some pieces. Is Kyler Murray one of those pieces? That’s the multi-million dollar question.

29. New England Patriots 4-12

Bill Belichick couldn’t right the ship. If Bill couldn’t do it, who can? Things aren’t looking good for the Patriots.

30. Tennessee Titans 5-11

Tennessee has a lot to fix. If the Titans hire the right coach, Will Levis will develop into a legit starter. Too bad Levis’ top target is 31-year-old DeAndre Hopkins, and Derrick Henry is almost 30.

31. Washington Commanders 4-12

The Commanders leapfrog the Carolina Panthers as the second worst team in the NFL. Washington should have a decent draft.

32. Carolina Panthers 2-14

The Panthers sold out their future for a 5’ 10” and 194 pounds quarterback in Bryce Young, which means Carolina could be worse in 2024 because they don’t have much draft capital.
