ATS Picks in the First Week of the Season

Odds for NFL Week 1 are out.

Things kick off with a bang on Thursday, Sep 5 when the Baltimore Ravens travel to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs.

Also in week 1, Green Bay throws down against Philadelphia in the Friday Night Lights matchup, and the Steelers are +2.5 dogs versus the Falcons in Atlanta.

Check out NFL odds, analysis, and picks for NFL Week 1 in the upcoming 2024 NFL Regular Season.

Writer’s ATS Picks for the NFL Week 1

Baltimore Ravens at Kansas City Chiefs -3

Thursday, September 5th, 2024

Ravens versus Chiefs get the new season off the ground.

In the AFC Championship, Baltimore wasn’t nearly as aggressive as so many expected them to be.

They weren’t timid, but they didn’t go after the Chiefs the way we thought they would.

Expect Lamar and Baltimore to ratchet up the intensity early in this.

The Ravens will have a chance to win straight up against a KC squad that’s notorious for starting slow.

NFL Week 1 Pick: Baltimore Ravens +3

Green Bay Packers at Philadelphia Eagles -2

Friday, September 6th, 2024

The odds on Jordan Love to win NFL MVP have fallen to close to favoritism.

Love is going to have a fantastic NFL season, but Green Bay won’t start off with a win.

Philadelphia’s defense will be much improved now that Vic Fangio is the defensive coordinator.

Not only that, but the Eagles offense will be tough to contain because Saquon Barkley will carry the pigskin.

Eagles score the ATS win.

NFL Week 1 Pick: Philadelphia Eagles -2

Pittsburgh Steelers at Atlanta Falcons -2.5

Sunday, September 8th, 2024

Steelers versus Falcons projects as one of the most competitive matchups in NFL Week 1.

However, the games should easily favor the ATL.

The Falcons know who their starting quarterback will be.

Pittsburgh is likely to start Russell Wilson over Justin Fields.

That may or may not work.

Also, the Steelers’ offensive line continues to be a question mark after watching Najee Harris get bottled up in Pittsburgh’s first preseason game.

Back the Falcons to cover.

NFL Week 1 Pick: Atlanta Falcons -2.5

Houston Texans -2 at Indianapolis Colts

Sunday, September 8th, 2024

The Colts have a good defense and a quarterback with mass potential in Anthony Richardson.

The key word in that sentence is potential.

We know C.J. Stroud is good.

We also know the Texans are loaded on defense and have acquired Stefon Diggs and Joe Mixon to aid Stroud.

Texans are an overlay at -2.

NFL Week 1 Pick: Houston Texans -2

Dallas Cowboys at Cleveland Browns -2

Sunday, September 8th, 2024

Cleveland will be a good football team.

The defense will make life tough on Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and the Cowboys offense, but as good as Cleveland is on defense, we must question how good they are on offense.

Deshaun Watson has played limited football in the past few years.

He goes up against Micah Parsons and fired up Dallas defense.

Cowboys can win this straight up.

NFL Week 1 Pick: Dallas Cowboys +2

New York Jets at San Francisco 49ers -5.5

Monday, September 9th, 2024

The odds make the Jets an overlay.

Even if Hasson Reddick continues his holdout into the regular season, NYJ is the team to back against the spread.

Aaron Rodgers has torched the 49ers in the past.

AR has more weapons at his disposal and should play upright all game long if Tyron Smith starts at left tackle.

The 49ers will win, but this is going to be close, 2 to 3 points is the likely outcome.

NFL Week 1 Pick: New York Jets +5.5

The teams are getting their final preparations ready, and the action will be hot and heavy starting Thursday night. Then, the big Sunday slate hits, followed by Monday Night Football.

NFL Week 1 ATS Picks | MyBookie Regular Season Preview

2023-24 NFL | 104th season of the National Football League
Regular Season: September 7, 2023 – January 7, 2024

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Detroit Lions | Thursday Night Football

ATS: -6.5
Thursday, September 7th, 2023 | NBC
GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, MO

The defending Super Bowl Champions get the party started for Week 1 of the National Football League. This should be an excellent opportunity to get it going in Kansas City. Patrick Mahomes and company will get the banner raised, then put the Lions in their place early in the season.

Many folks are all over Detroit to compete and be an NFC contender. Before that, they must show they can hang with the big dogs. This game could have gone better for them. The Kansas City Chiefs win by 10+ in this game over the Detroit Lions on Thursday.

NFL Week 1 ATS Pick: -6.5 | Bet Chiefs at Lions

Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers | NFC North Rivalry Game

ATS: -1
Sunday, September 10th, 2023 at 4:25 pm | CBS
Empower Field at Mile High, Denver, CO

A huge NFC North rivalry game. The Chicago Bears are at home against the Green Bay Packers. Justin Fields and company look to have a new roster ready to compete.

This is Year 3 for Fields, so many expect him to pick up his game. Several have put his name into the talk for National Football League Most Valuable Player.

Not sure we can go that far, but Fields and the Bears are better than Love and the Packers in this one. Look for Chicago to be rocking as they get a chance to beat a rivalry they rarely beat. Bears win this game at home.

NFL Week 1 ATS Pick: -1 | Bet Bears at Packers

Seattle Seahawks vs. Los Angeles Rams

ATS: -5.5
Sunday, September 10th, 2023 at 4:25 pm | FOX
Lumen Field, Seattle, WA

No Cooper Kupp will be a big-time problem for the Los Angeles Rams. Matthew Stafford has not been happy about the preseason, and that will boil over into the regular season.

The Seattle Seahawks were a fun team to watch a season ago, with Geno Smith playing good football. Do not be surprised if they start hot here. The Seahawks win this game and cover the spread at home over the Rams.

NFL Week 1 ATS Pick: -5.5 | Bet Seahawks at Rams

Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts

ATS: -5
Sunday, September 10th, 2023 at 1:00 pm | FOX
Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, IN

Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars won a postseason game a season ago. People need to remember that when they are talking about the 2023 Jaguars. That team will be a season more experienced. This is going to be a fun team to follow.

On the other side, the Colts are an absolute mess. The Jonathan Taylor thing is terrible for the team and will not bode well in the win column. An already bad team got worse. Take the Jaguars to win this game on the road over the Colts.

NFL Week 1 ATS Pick: -5 | Bet Jaguars at Colts

Buffalo Bills at New York Jets | Monday Night Football

ATS: -2.5
Monday, September 11th, 2023 at 8:15 pm | ESPN, ESPN+, ABC
MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ

The final game of the Week 1 slate. Monday Night Football Live from the Meadowlands. The hype on this game is going to be out of control. Josh Allen and his Bills invade Aaron Rodgers and his new team – the Jets.

The Jets are getting much love with talk of them taking over the division. This would be a great start to that. But – not so sure it’s going actually to happen. Take the Buffalo Bills with their talent to win this game on the road. Buffalo -2.5!

NFL Week 1 ATS Pick: -2.5 | Bet Bills at Jets

Even better, you’re going to have a great chance to cash in a whopping three times thanks to the trio of potentially bankroll-boosting ATS online betting picks that you’re about to get.

Okay, with the start of the season just over 48 hours away, let’s rock and roll people!

A Closer Look At The Top NFL ATS Expert Picks For Week 1 (Sept 8-11)

Carolina at Denver

When: September 08, 2016, 08:30 PM ET
Where: Sports Authority Field at Mile High
TV: NBC
NFL Odds: Carolina -3 / Total: 42

Analysis: Let me get right to the point by saying that I fully expect Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers to beat the Denver Broncos soundly by pressuring young quarterback Trevor Siemian into at least one costly turnover and likely two. While the Panthers have gone 0-4 ATS in their last four road games, Cam Newton and company have also compiled a blistering11-5 ATS mark in their last 16 games overall.

I know the Broncos have gone 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 games in the month of September, but I don’t see any way Denver wins this game against a Carolina team that will be fired up for this affair from the very start and should be even more explosive offensively this season with Kelvin Benjamin back on the field.

The Panthers win and cover!

My Pick: Carolina 27 Denver 20

Chicago Bears at Houston Texans

What: Sunday, September 11, 2016; 1:00 PM ET
When: NRG Stadium
NFL Odds: Chicago Bears +5.5 / Over/Under: 44

Analysis: There’s no other way to say it. This Week 1 mismatch is a virtual lock alert NFL betting enthusiasts! There’s not a whole lot of thinking that needs to go into making this pick with the Houston Texans simply being the better team in all three phases of the game. I fully expect the Texans’ voracious defense to force Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler into at least one costly turnover while Houston’s new-look offense puts just enough points on the board against Chicago’s underwhelming defense to cover the spread.

I know the Bears have gone 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games, but Jay Cutler and company are also just 1-4 ATS in their last five games and a winless 0-4 ATS in their last four games in the month of September. Conversely, the Texans have gone 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall and 4-2 ATS in their last six home dates.

The Texans will win and easily cash in!

My Pick: Houston 27 Chicago 20

Green Bay Packers (11-7) at Jacksonville Jaguars (5-11)

When: Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 1:00 pm
Where: EverBank Field
NFL Line: Jacksonville Jaguars +4.5 / Over/Under: 48

Analysis: Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers may be on the road in this regular season opener, but I’m still a bit surprised that the NFL betting line is only 4.5 points. Still, I don’t think this is a trap game and believe the Packers are going to win and cover the NFL betting line with room to spare.

Green Bay has gone 5-1 ATS in their last six road games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall. On the flip side of the coin, Jacksonville is just 10-21-1 ATS in their last 32 home games and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games overall.

Yes, I know the Packers are 1-4 ATS in their last five meetings against Jacksonville, but they’re getting the easy touchdown win in this one!

My Pick: Green Bay 27 Jacksonville 21
