The Philadelphia Eagles will be looking to lock down home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs when they take on the visiting Oakland Raiders in their Week 16 Monday Night Football matchup. Getting past the dysfunctional Raiders may not be very difficult, but will the Birds be able to cover the NFL spread as a near double-digit home favorite in the process?
Let’s find out right now what’s going to go down at Lincoln Financial Field in the City of Brotherly Love on Monday night.

Why Bet on the Oakland Raiders Odds at +9?
Why bet on the Raiders in this contest? Well, because they still have plenty of talent at the skill positions and Philadelphia is without franchise signal-caller Carson Wentz.
Unfortunately, the Raiders have lost two straight and three of their last five games and have no hopes of reaching the playoff at this point of their underachieving season. Oakland comes into this contest off a narrow 20-17 home loss against Dallas last weekend that put their slim hopes of reaching the postseason almost completely on ice.
Derek Carr passed for 171 yards with a pair of touchdowns to wide receiver Michael Crabtree in the loss while veteran running back Marshawn Lynch rushed for modest 76 yards. 2016 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, linebacker Khalil Mack racked up two sacks against Dallas and has recorded at least one sack in five straight games.
“We’re going to play to win,” Oakland coach Jack Del Rio said. “Just going to play to win. We’re going to do everything we can to get over this ‘close but no cigar’ finish we had…We’ll have an extra day of recovery, and then we’ll get in with the normal game week leading up to our opportunity on Christmas night.”
Oakland will be without left tackle Donald Penn for the remainder of the season after he sustained a foot injury early in the game against the Cowboys and now his streak of 170 consecutive starts will come to an end.
Why Bet on the Philadelphia Eagles Odds at -9?
Why bet on the Birds in this Week 16 matchup? Well, because they’ve got a ton to play for, are playing at home and have simply been better than the Raiders in all three phases of the game this season.
The Birds got by the feisty New York Giants 34-29 in a hard-fought battle last weekend as quarterback Nick Foles tossed four TD passes in his first start after replacing franchise star Carson Wentz. With last week’s win, the Eagles secured a first-round bye in the playoffs and now, a win over the Raiders or a Vikings loss against Green Bay would help them lock down the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs.
“I’ve begun thinking, but my focus is winning the game on Monday Night because that to me is the most important thing,” Eagles coach Doug Pederson said. “Once we get to next week, we’ll figure out next week. But my mindset this week is all about the Oakland Raiders, ‘Monday Night Football,’ and if we win that one. And like I’ve said pretty much these last few weeks, we control our destiny right now. So that’s the focus for me.”
While Foles had a fantastic outing against the Giants last weekend, but Philly’s defense was overly generous against the Giants.
“I just think his poise and his play-making,” Philadelphia offensive coordinator Frank Reich said when asked what stood out about Foles. “Obviously, you could tell right away, he’s been there before. Then he did what we needed him to do. He played good, sound football, but also be ready to make big plays. He provided that as well.”

Expert Analysis and Prediction
The Eagles may be 5-0 against the NFL spread in their last five home games and 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games overall, but the Oakland Raiders are 2-0-2 ATS in their last four games following a straight-up loss and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five Monday Night Football matchups.
Not only are the Raiders 4-1 ATS in their last five meetings against the Eagles, but the way the Birds’ defense looked against the Giants last week, I think the Raiders are the pick to cover the NFL Spread in this one!
