Preseason NFL Week 3: A Look at Teams Playing Sunday Night

2024 NFL season | 104th season of National Football League in the United States
Thursday, August 22nd, – Sunday, August 25th, 2024

Betting NFL Preseason Week 3

The final weekend of preseason NFL football will be taking place this weekend, and every team in the league will be in action.

There will be some teams that are playing starters in Week 3, while other teams are simply getting ready for the regular season.

Two games are set to take place on Sunday evening, and each game will feature a pair of young teams.

Here is a look at those matchups, and how the teams in those games might fare during the regular season.

Arizona Cardinals vs. Denver Broncos (-3.5)

Sunday, August 25th, 2024

The first game on Sunday night will feature the Arizona Cardinals visiting the Denver Broncos.

Arizona has yet to win a game during the preseason, while the Broncos have gone 2-0 in impressive fashion.

The Cardinals are not going to have their starters on the field in this game, but they are a team that doesn’t have a ton of talent to begin with.

It’s been a rough go for the Cardinals of late, and they have the feel of a team that will be looking to tank a bit.

Denver is heading in the opposite direction as they are going to be a team that is looking to turn a corner.

The Broncos have been playing young stars throughout the preseason, and things have been going extremely well for them up to this point.

This team just recently named Bo Nix as their starting quarterback, and that will give the team some momentum heading into Week 1 of the regular season.

Don’t expect to see Nix on the field in this game, but the Broncos are still going to come up with a win to cover the spread.

New England Patriots (-4.0) vs. Washington Commanders

Sunday, August 25th, 2024

The other game will feature two teams that are expected to struggle this season as the New England Patriots will visit the Washington Commanders.

New England is a four-point favorite in this matchup, and they have been taking the preseason more seriously than Washington up to this point.

The Patriots are still trying to figure out some key roster spots, and some of those battles are going to be playing out on the field Sunday night.

New England will be the worst team in the AFC East Division this season, and they could end up with the worst record in the entire NFL this season.

Washington is a team that wants to try to get back to being competitive, and everything is trending in that direction.

The Commanders just announced that Jayden Daniels would be the starting quarterback, and he will be looking for some success as a rookie.

The only problem for the Commanders is that they are playing in a tough division in the NFC East, but they should at least be able to win some games.

Washington will not be a playoff team, but don’t expect them to be one of the worst teams in the league.

New England will cover the spread in this game, but Washington will end up having the better season overall.

Pre-Season NFL Odds: Saturday Winners in Week 3

Previous Betting News

The final big day of the 2023 NFL preseason slate is Saturday with 10 games – there is one last game Sunday – and here are three sure winners from those 10 with current NFL odds.

Saturday Winners: Top Games to Bet in Pre-Season Week 3 | NFL Lines by MyBookie

NFL Preseason: August 2, 2023 – August 27, 2023

Cleveland vs Kansas City

NFL Odds: Cleveland at Kansas City (+2)
When: Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 1:00 PM ET
Where: GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, MO
TV / Streaming: NFL NET

That the Chiefs are home underdogs should tell you whether Patrick Mahomes or most other Kansas City starters will suit up. Mahomes did play the first quarter this past weekend in a 38-10 win in Arizona. He completed 10 of 15 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown, playing the entire first quarter. The defending Super Bowl champs never trailed and outgained the Cardinals 504 yards to 286. Kansas City rookie receiver Rashee Rice — a second-round pick out of SMU — caught eight passes for 96 yards. He has been a star of camp. No. 1 running back Isiah Pacheco shed his non-contact jersey for the first time in training camp this week, and coach Andy Reid said “there’s a chance” he suits up for his preseason debut Saturday. He’s recovering from a shoulder injury. Star defensive tackle Chris Jones is away from the team as he eyes a new contract. Jones indicated on social media that he’s willing to continue his holdout until Week 8 and that he’s willing to forfeit his weekly game check, in his case about $1.1 million dollars, because “I can afford it.”

Cleveland is 1-1-1 in this preseason after tying the Eagles 18-18 last week. Cleveland split the quarterback reps between backup contenders Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Kellen Mond. Joshua Dobbs, the frontrunner as the No. 2 to Deshaun Watson, did not play. Thompson-Robinson was 13 for 25 in the first half, and Mond was 12 for 24 for 126 yards and a TD after halftime. Those two figure to share most of the snaps again. Watson played only a single possession in his lone preseason appearance thus far, but most starters will play 20-25 snaps in the finale.

Baltimore vs Tampa Bay

NFL Odds: Baltimore at Tampa Bay (-1.5)
When: Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 7:00 PM ET
Where: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, FL
TV / Streaming:

The Ravens had an NFL-record 24-game preseason winning streak end Monday in a 29-28 loss at Washington. Joey Slye converted from 49 yards out in the final seconds to lead Washington to the upset. Ravens QB Josh Johnson finished 10 of 12 for 145 yards and two touchdowns, as well as one end zone interception where the ball fell through the arms of receiver James Proche II and into the waiting hands of Commanders defensive back Quan Martin. Ravens rookie receiver Zay Flowers dominated the opening drive, catching two passes for 37 yards and his first NFL touchdown. Flowers had 21.8 yards after the catch on his 26-yard touchdown reception. Last season, the Ravens wide receivers ranked 29th in YAC with 551, although they were 11th in yards after the catch per reception (4.4).

The Bucs have named Baker Mayfield as the Week 1 starting quarterback over Kyle Trask. Coach Todd Bowles previously had said both would play in the finale but that was before naming a winner. Whether that changes Bowles’ plans isn’t clear yet. Trask played nearly the whole game in Week 2 after third-stringer John Wolford got hurt and probably will do so again. The Buccaneers also made a decision regarding one other head-to-head competition, as they waived kicker Rodrigo Blankenship on Monday. That leaves Chase McLaughlin as the only place-kicker on the roster. Second-year player Cade Otton had been listed as the starter in the single tight end position but now he’s joined in the listed starting 11 by fellow 2022 draftee Ko Kieft.

Miami vs Jacksonville

NFL Odds: Miami at Jacksonville (-6)
When: Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 7:00 PM ET
Where: EverBank Stadium, Jacksonville, FL
TV / Streaming:

This might be an AFC playoff preview after both made it last season. The Jags are 2-0 in this preseason and won both of those games on the road. The Jacksonville starters are expected to play a fair amount on Saturday. “I’m still in the same mindset,” coach Doug Pederson said of the injury risk. “I can’t really worry too much about who gets hurt and this and that. If I do, then people get hurt. I just think you practice and play just like you’re getting ready for a regular-season game and our starters need some time together on the field. They’ll get that opportunity this week, and I’ll monitor it. I’ll be on top of that too, so if I need to pull them out, I’ll pull them out. Right now, it’s still full steam ahead. You can’t substitute game reps and the feeling of a little bit of pressure and heat from execution.”. The Jaguars have a 1,000-yard rusher in Travis Etienne Jr. but drafted Tank Bigsby in the third round. After an impressive spring and start to training camp, it looks like Bigsby might have earned a bigger role in the offense.

Miami is quite banged up but avoided potential disaster on third-round rookie RB De’Von Achane, who is considered “week-to-week” after leaving Saturday’s preseason win over the Houston Texans with a shoulder injury. Backup QB Mike White was also injured in Saturday’s game, McDaniel said, and is in the concussion protocol. White suffered the injury while filling in for Skylar Thompson, who at the time was being evaluated for a concussion on the sideline. White did return to practice this week so maybe he can play. Star wideout Jaylen Waddle hasn’t played in the preseason due to injury and will not.

Pre-Season NFL Odds & Lines: Thursday Winners in Week 3

Previous Betting News

We are in the final week of the preseason and so far, knock on wood, no team has lost a starting quarterback to injury. Some will play in the preseason finale and some won’t. Here are our NFL picks for Thursday’s two games.

Thursday Winners: Top Games to Bet in Pre-Season Week 3 | NFL Lines by MyBookie

NFL Preseason: August 2, 2023 – August 27, 2023

Pittsburgh at Atlanta

NFL Odds: Pittsburgh at Atlanta (+4.5)
When: Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 7:30 PM ET
Where: Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, GA
TV / Streaming: NFL NET

Both teams know their Week 1 starting quarterbacks and both are in their second year: Kenny Pickett for Pittsburgh and Desmond Ridder for Atlanta.

The Steelers are 2-0 in the preseason following a 27-15 home win over Buffalo this past Saturday. Pickett and the first team offense opened up with a six-play, 86-yard scoring drive, capped off with a 62-yard Jaylen Warren rushing touchdown — the Steelers’ first rushing touchdown of at least 60 yards since 2016. The Steelers scored just one offensive touchdown longer than 25 yards last season. They’ve produced four of them through two exhibition games. Pickett has played three series so far in the preseason. Each series has ended with Pittsburgh reaching the end zone, with all three touchdowns coming from at least 25 yards out.

The Steelers won six of their last seven games and seven of the last nine last season and it seems like the momentum has carried over. The players are seeing what offensive coordinator Matt Canada‘s vision is as he enters his third season in the role, and they are picking up the same vision and approach they had the second half of last year.

“We saw that last year after the bye week,” said center Mason Cole. “There is no question about what we are doing, and why we are doing it. It just comes down to execution.”

Atlanta is 1-0-1 following a 13-13 tie against Cincinnati last Friday. After sitting the starters in an opening 19-3 victory at Miami, the Falcons went with the No. 1s for their opening possession. That included their last three first-round picks: tight end Kyle Pitts, wide receiver Drake London and running back Bijan Robinson. Ridder looked sharp on his lone drive, completing 7 of 9 passes, and though the drive ended in an interception, it was a tipped-ball pick by Joseph Ossai. The biggest concern was four penalties from the first offensive unit, including two holding calls on guard Chris Lindstrom, who had one penalty combined in his first four NFL seasons.

Matt Hennessy was on schedule to be the starting left guard come Week 1 of the season, but a knee injury in the first week of training camp accelerated Matthew Bergeron’s development. Hennessy is now on injured reserve, and the starting left guard spot is Bergeron’s for the taking.

Pitts wants to win this one: “Finish it off right. Come together as a team, get the last win and then be ready for Sept. 10.”

Indianapolis at Philadelphia

NFL Odds: Indianapolis at Philadelphia (-3)
When: Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 8:00 PM ET
Where: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA
TV / Streaming: Prime Video

The Colts are 1-1 in the preseason following a 24-17 home win over the Bears on Saturday. Indy rested most of its starters, including rookie No. 4 overall pick Anthony Richardson, who has been named the Week 1 guy. Not clear if he will go this week. Sam Ehlinger was 9-of-14 passing for 124 yards and had eight carries for 60 yards, including a five-yard touchdown, in the win over Chicago and should play the most here.

Despite nominally being in the starting quarterback competition to begin training camp, Ehlinger appears locked into the No. 3 quarterback role with Richardson named the Week 1 starter and Gardner Minshew set as the backup.

Star running back Jonathan Taylor has been given permission to seek a trade. Just because Taylor and his representation are able to look for a trade partner who would give him a new deal doesn’t mean he’s going to find one. The Chargers similarly gave Austin Ekeler permission to seek a trade earlier in the offseason but nothing materialized on the market. Ekeler ended up signing a deal with increased incentives with Los Angeles for 2023.

Taylor is expected to return and travel with the team to Philadelphia following his second excused absence from training camp (this due to a personal matter), but he remains on the PUP list as he continues his rehab from offseason ankle surgery.

Philadelphia (0-1-1-) tied the Browns last Thursday, 18-18. Linebacker Nakobe Dean was one of the only projected starters to see action for Philadelphia, Dean generated a turnover near the Eagles’ goal line when he shot into the backfield and hit running back John Kelly Jr., knocking the ball loose. Safety K’Von Wallace recovered it for a Philly takeaway. The Eagles face uncertainty at linebacker after the departures of starters T.J. Edwards and Kyzir White in free agency.

Another linebacker, Myles Jack, has retired. He signed a one-year deal with Philadelphia on Aug. 6 and received first-team reps on his first day of practice, but had a relatively quiet training camp and had fallen down the depth chart in recent days. In two preseason games with the Eagles, Jack recorded five tackles in 52 defensive snaps, adding another four snaps on special teams. QB Jalen Hurts hasn’t played in the preseason and isn’t expected to.

Pre-Season NFL Odds & Lines: Friday Winners in Week 3

Previous Betting News

We never get NFL action on Friday during the regular season, but there are three Friday night games in Week 3 of the preseason – the last week of exhibition games for all clubs. We break down each with NFL odds and a pick.

Friday Winners: Top Games to Bet in Pre-Season Week 3 | NFL Lines by MyBookie

NFL Preseason: August 2, 2023 – August 27, 2023

Detroit at Carolina

NFL Odds: Detroit at Carolina (-4)
When: Friday, August 25, 2023 at 8:00 PM ET
Where: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC
TV / Streaming: CBS

Carolina is 0-2 this preseason after a 21-19 loss at the Giants this past Friday. No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young showed flashes and put points on the board for the first time, taking the Panthers on a 15-yard, 62-yard drive that Matthew Wright capped early in the second quarter with the first of his two field goals. “I feel like there’s always room for improvement,” Young said. “It’s about trying to keep growing day by day. So I think the more reps and more experience you get, to go up against another team, that’s a valuable experience for me, especially in this league.” Young is scheduled to start this game as well. In each of Carolina’s first two preseason games Young only handled two or three drives. Top running back Miles Sanders was back at practice early this week off a groin injury but not expected to play here. Starting kicker Eddy Pineiro is dealing with his own groin issue and hasn’t appeared in either of the team’s two preseason contests. He won’t here, either.

Detroit is 1-1 after a 25-7 home loss to Jacksonville on Saturday. New backup Teddy Bridgewater made his Lions debut, rocking a temporary jersey number instead of his longtime No. 5, which is already taken by Lions running back David Montgomery. With most of the starters out, including Jared Goff, Bridgewater was 5-of-11 for 34 yards and had a first-quarter fumble. Most of the Lions starters sat out and will do again here. Coach Dan Campbell said Tuesday that top wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown (lower leg) is “doing great” but won’t suit up for Friday’s preseason finale.

New England at Tennessee

NFL Odds: New England at Tennessee (+2)
When: Friday, August 25, 2023 at 8:15 PM ET
Where: Nissan Stadium, Nashville, TN
TV / Streaming: NFL NET

The Titans (1-1) did something unusual in their Week 2 preseason game: Played projected backup Malik Willis the entire game in a 24-16 win at Minnesota. The Titans didn’t want to risk starter Ryan Tannehill, and rookie second-round pick Will Levis was hurting. Willis rushed for 91 yards and threw a touchdown pass. Rookie Tyjae Spears had a 33-yard touchdown run, Julius Chestnut rushed for 98 yards and a score and the Titans racked up 281 yards on the ground. However, wideout Kyle Philips suffered an MCL injury and will miss time. With Treylon Burks dealing with a sprained LCL, the Titans wide receiver depth behind DeAndre Hopkins is currently taxed. The Titans signed kicker Michael Badgley on Tuesday. Caleb Shudak and Trey Wolff also had been competing for the kicking job but were waived.

New England (1-1) won at Green Bay 21-17 last weekend. The game was called in the fourth quarter due to a serious injury suffered by Pats rookie Isaiah Bolden in that quarter. He’s in the concussion protocol but should be OK overall. The Patriots were scheduled to travel directly from Green Bay to Nashville for joint practice sessions with the Titans, but due to the circumstances that led to suspending the preseason game against the Packers, the Patriots traveled back to Foxboro. Mac Jones made his preseason debut against Green Bay on Saturday, completing six of nine pass attempts for 52 yards and no touchdowns or interceptions. Jones coughed up a fumble while getting sacked on the final play of his scheduled appearance, giving way to Bailey Zappe and the reserves after completing three drives. The Patriots and Titans will square off in the preseason for the first time since 2019 when the Patriots traveled to Nashville for joint practice sessions prior to a 22-17 victory on Aug. 17, 2019.

LA Chargers at San Francisco

NFL Odds: LA Chargers at San Francisco (-7.5)
When: Friday, August 25, 2023 at 10:00 PM ET
Where: Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, CA
TV / Streaming: NFL NET

It could be a Super Bowl 58 preview. It will mark the 50th preseason matchup between the two teams. The Chargers lead 27-22.

The Chargers (1-1) lost to the Saints 22-17 last week. WR Quentin Johnson, the 21st overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft once again looked the part, as Johnston hauled in passes of 16 and 15 yards from Easton Stick in the first half. Johnston has yet to work with Justin Herbert in a game and is not expected to play here, either. Stick completed 21 of 41 passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns while adding 63 rushing yards and two touchdowns on seven carries in the loss to the Saints. The Chargers’ backup quarterback played the entire game and should play most of this game along with 2023 seventh-round pick Max Duggan as the only other QB on the roster.

The Niners (1-1) beat Denver 21-20 on Saturday. Backup QB Trey Lance shook off an interception on his first drive to set up two fourth-quarter scores, including the winning 32-yard field goal from Moody on the final play. Moody bounced back after missing two field goals last week and an extra point earlier in the game to convert the winner. Lance finished 12 for 18 for 173 yards. Starting QB Brock Purdy got his first game action since injuring his elbow in San Francisco’s NFC title game loss at Philadelphia. The Niners hoped to get Purdy 10-15 snaps against the Broncos and were able to do just that on the game’s opening drive. Purdy went 4-of-5 for 65 yards, had a scramble for 8 yards and was sacked once on a 10-play drive that ended with a field goal.

NFL 2022 Preseason Week 3 Betting Analysis for Weekend Games, and Monday Night Match

Previous Betting News

NFL Preseason Week 2 continues on Saturday. Top games include the Buffalo Bills hosting the Denver Broncos and the Las Vegas Raiders heading to Miami to take on the Dolphins. Then on Sunday, the Browns host the Eagles and the Bengals travel to New York to battle the Giants. Monday’s NFL preseason game is Falcons at Jets. See below for NFL Preseason Odds, analysis, and free picks for six terrific NFL preseason contests happening from Saturday to Monday.

Weekend NFL Betting Action | 2022 Preseason Analysis

NFL Preseason Week 3

Denver Broncos at Buffalo Bills -4 | Saturday, August 20

There’s no reason for Buffalo to play quarterback Josh Allen. But even if Allen doesn’t see the field, the Bills’ backups, Case Keenum and Matt Barkley, are more than capable of getting it done.

Like Allen, Russell Wilson figures to sit. If Wilson plays, it won’t be for long, which is why even if Russell steps onto the field, Buffalo is the pick to cover.

NFL Preseason Week 2 Pick: Buffalo Bills

Las Vegas Raiders -2 at Miami Dolphins | Saturday, August 20

Raiders’ head coach Josh McDaniels recently said he doesn’t want to reveal too much during preseason. Although it’s true, coaches shouldn’t reveal too much in meaningless games, McDaniels will want quarterback Derek Carr and wide receiver Davante Adams to get on the same page.

Quarterbacks and wideouts can only do so much during practice. Expect the duo to get at least three series together, which means the Raiders should cover this spread.

NFL Preseason Week 2 Pick: Las Vegas Raiders

Pittsburgh Steelers at Jacksonville Jaguars -3.5 | Saturday, August 20

Steelers’ rookie Kenny Pickett got some playing time in the first preseason game and he performed well. Expect Pickett to play even more snaps in this game because Pittsburgh is considering trading Mason Rudolph and Mitch Trubisky is their starter.

The Jaguars sparingly played Trevor Lawrence in the loss to the Cleveland Browns. Expect Lawrence to play at least a half on Saturday.

Doug Pederson won’t want Lawrence to put in too much work in the final preseason game. So this contest is where Pederson loosens the reigns. Jacksonville is the play.

NFL Preseason Week 2 Pick: Jacksonville Jaguars

Philadelphia Eagles -2.5 at Cleveland Browns | Sunday, August 21

The Browns heard that Deshaun Watson must miss 11 games this season. Without Watson, Cleveland won’t succeed versus rivals Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Cincinnati.

Even with Watson, beating their AFC North rivals was up in the air. As far as this preseason game is concerned, Philly will let Jalen Hurts do his thing for close to a half. That will be all that the Eagles require to cover the spread.

NFL Preseason Week 2 Pick: Philadelphia Eagles

Cincinnati Bengals at New York Giants -5.5 | Sunday, August 21

It’s doubtful Joe Burrow plays. But backup Brandon Allen is decent. He might be decent enough for the Bengals to win this straight up.

The Giants have two quarterbacks with starting experience, Tyrod Taylor and Daniel Jones. At least one will play on Sunday, which is why the Giants are such huge favorites. But even if both play, coach Brian Daboll may not open the playbook. Daboll will want to keep his best stuff in his pocket. Cincinnati covers.

NFL Preseason Week 2 Pick: Cincinnati Bengals

Atlanta Falcons -2.5 at New York Jets | Monday, August 22

Atlanta could be a sneaky good team this season. The Falcons will employ an RPO type offense around Marcus Mariota, Desmond Ridder, or both.

Ridder rushed for a 9.8 per carry average and threw 2 TDs in the ATL’s preseason week 1 victory over the Detroit Lions. Another great performance should lead to another Falcons win and cover.

NFL 2022 Preseason Week 3 Betting Analysis for Friday Night Matches

Previous Betting News

It’s week 2 of the NFL preseason, and while we may not see starters in a lot of games, we’ll still see some very important position battles taking place. Let’s take a look at the three preseason games being played on Friday night so you can make your bets against their NFL Preseason Lines.

Friday, August 19th NFL Betting Action | 2022 Preseason Analysis

Carolina Panthers @ New England Patriots

After practicing together throughout the week, these two teams will meet on Friday night at Gillette Stadium. One of the big storylines heading into this preseason game is the feistiness between the two teams. In Tuesday’s practice, there were lots of near-fights and one all-out brawl.

We don’t know if we’ll see much from the Patriots, but the Panthers quarterback battle is still in full swing. Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield have been splitting reps with the Panther’s first team. While many think that Mayfield is the better option and will win out in the end, the Panthers are still treating it as a battle and probably won’t make a decision until near the start of the regular season.

We’ll see how much each of the two play on Friday night, and if Mayfield is more productive than Darnold, he will have a huge edge heading into the third preseason game.

New Orleans Saints @ Green Bay Packers

These two are also practicing together this week. Both teams lost their preseason debuts. Aaron Rodgers has been frustrated early in Packers camp. With the loss of Davante Adams, the Packers have a very young wide receiving corps. The youngsters have been plagued by poor route-running and dropped balls thus far in camp. Rodgers has voiced his frustrations with his receiver. We’ll see if Green Bay can get things fixed up prior to the regular season.

As for the Saints, they were missing a lot of players last week, but many of their starters have returned to practice this week. We don’t know if they’ll see much action in this one, but they are practicing against the Packers. Andy Dalton will be backing Jameis Winston up this season, and Dalton has looked good thus far in the preseason. New Orleans is in a much better situation with their backup quarterbacks this season than they were last season.

Houston Texans @ Los Angeles Rams

Heading into the regular season, these two teams are on opposite ends of the spectrum. Houston should be one of the weaker teams in the league, while the Rams are expected to make another long playoff run this season. Sean McVay has already announced that his starters won’t see much action this week, but there will be some key players to watch.

Bryce Perkins was the only quarterback to take snaps this preseason, and he’ll more than likely play most of the game against the Texans. He’s playing for the third-string spot on the Rams. The Rams are also auditioning a lot of skill-position players, so this game will be important for them.

As for the Texans, they’ll have a young roster regardless, and this game will be big for many players that are on the fence. Lovie Smith has a lot of decisions to make, and this game could be make-or-break for many rookies and younger players.

NFL 2022 Preseason Parlay Betting Picks for the Week 3 Matches

Previous Betting News

We are now basically heading into the 3rd week of the preseason, with the Hall of Fame Game and the first round of preseason games now all in the books. There are some very big storylines already beginning to emerge, and we can certainly expect more headlines to be made before we get to the start of the regular season. Who will make the headlines this week? We are going to need to wait and see, but what we do know is that we might well see a little bit more of the starters in this next round of games. That could potentially have an impact on the outcomes, as well as potentially delivering an increase in scoring. As always, it’s worth noting that the preseason is wholly unpredictable, so play these NFL Preseason Betting picks with serious caution.

Parlay Picks for NFL Preseason Week 3 Games

Preseason SU Parlay – Panthers, Rams, Ravens

We have ourselves a QB battle going on in Carolina, with Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield duking it out for the #1 spot. That means both players will be looking to play well against a Patriots team that looks to be in turmoil on the offensive side of things.

Even in the preseason when most of the big-name players are watching from the sidelines, you can still see which teams are better than others. It’s fair to say that even the Rams second string guys will dominate the Houston Texans.

I hate to run the risk of being a jinx, but it has become impossible to bet against the Baltimore Ravens in preseason games. Heading into their matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, the Ravens have now won 21 in a row in preseason.

Preseason ATS Parlay – Seahawks (-4), Colts (+2), Chiefs (-3 ½)

You look at the teams who are potentially going to struggle this season and find that 2 of them are going head-to-head this week, with the Bears and Seahawks locking horns. Seattle looked pretty good in a loss to the Steelers, and I like them to win and cover at home.

It can be tough to find real value in the preseason games, but I think we have one in the game between the Detroit Lions and the Indianapolis Colts. I am surprised to see the Colts as an underdog here, as I like them to win straight up.

Another team that is likely to have a tough time of things this season is the Washington Commanders, who will be on the road to face the Chiefs this week. I have to go with the Chiefs to win and cover in their own building.

Preseason O/U Parlay – Saints (O40), Broncos (O41 ½), Steelers (O42 ½)

I think we are going to see an increase in the scoring this week, which is why I am taking OVER on all 3 picks. Not sure how much of the starting offenses we will see, but the Saints and Packers should put some points on the board.

To win the Super Bowl, you need to have some depth on your squad, which is something that the Buffalo Bills certainly have. I like them and the Broncos to put up some offense when they meet up this week.

The Steelers put up 32 points against the Seahawks last week as the battle to be QB1 continues. I like them to score a lot again this week against the Jaguars, and while Jacksonville didn’t do much offensively last week, I think they do enough to get this one OVER.

I have read enough, I need to place my bet now. What to do?

NFL 2022 Preseason Week 3 Betting Picks: Teams That Most Likely Will Win Their Game

Previous Betting News

We are all well aware that getting too up or down based on the performance of a team in preseason is never a great idea. While the games are an important part of players getting ready for the battles to come, the reality is that many of the players that we will watch over the next couple of weeks won’t even be on a roster once the season begins. That said, it’s still fun to have football back, regardless of the quality at this point, and it’s also fun to wager on the games that are being played. Week 3 of the preseason schedule is upon us, which means that it’s time to make some picks, which we all know can be a little hazardous at this early stage. While the title here may be “sure” winners, I think it might be better to say that these are a few teams that I like to win this coming week and that you could bet against their NFL Preseason Odds.

Sure Winners Preseason Week 3 | 2022 NFL Betting Analysis

LA Rams over Houston Texans

The Rams saw their preseason campaign get off to a very decent start with a 29-22 win over the LA Chargers. While we are unlikely to see much of Matthew Stafford or the other bigger names on the Rams squad, we are likely to see another win. This looks like it is going to be another long season for the Houston Texans, a team very much in the early stages of a rebuild. Yes, they came away with a 17-13 win over the New Orleans Saints last week, but I would suggest that fans in Houston should not get too excited about that win. I think they will be coming back to earth this week with a loss to the Rams.

Pittsburgh Steelers over Jacksonville Jaguars

In terms of playing time, the Jacksonville Jaguars actually have an edge over the Steelers this week. The Jags played in the Hall of Fame Game, which means they are already 2 games deep, while the Steelers have played just once. That said, the Jaguars lost both games and have only managed 24 total points through those two outings. We have a battle going for the starting QB spot in Pittsburgh, with all 3 guys looking very good last week in a 32-25 win over Seattle. I think that battle continues to rage this week, which could mean that the Steelers put up some points against the struggling Jags.

LA Chargers over Dallas Cowboys

Like we mentioned at the top of this piece, you should never get too high on a team in preseason or decide that they suck based on a game or two, especially when the sure starters are not on the field. There are, though, legitimate concerns in Dallas after watching the Cowboys rack up 17 penalties in their opening game of the preseason, which they lost to the Denver Broncos by a score of 17-7. They are going to need to tighten up and stop giving up those penalty yards against a very efficient Chargers offense this week. Can they do that? I’m not so sure they can.

I have read enough, I need to place my bet now. What to do?

NFL 2022 Preseason Week 3 Betting Picks: Teams That Most Likely Will Loose Their Match

Previous Betting News

One of the problems with wagering on the preseason is that you never really know what you are going to get. Will the starters see any playing time, and if so, how much will they see? We already know that a very small fraction of the playbook will actually be used, meaning that we are going to see vanilla offense and mistakes by the bucket load. We can look at what happened last week for clues as to how things might go this time around, but again, we might not see a number of players that took the field last week. What we are saying is that wagering on the preseason is always precarious at best, but that is what we are going to do. Listed below are a few teams that we believe will be on the losing end of things in this week’s preseason action. Let’s take a moment to break it all down so you can bet against their NFL Preseason Odds.

Sure Losers Preseason Week 3 | 2022 NFL Betting Analysis

New England Patriots Vs Carolina Panthers

Over the years, we have learned to trust Bill Belichick and the decisions that he has made as the head coach of the New England Patriots. Some of that shine came off when Tom Brady was essentially forced out of Foxboro, only to go on and win a Super Bowl in his first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The word out of training camp was that the Patriots offense was a shambles, and that certainly held up last week, when they looked awful in a 23-21 loss to the New York Giants, who are not exactly a powerhouse team. Will those issues continue again this week versus the Carolina Panthers? I think they might, especially with a QB battle happening in Carolina.

Cleveland Browns Vs Philadelphia Eagles

The Cleveland Browns has been a franchise viewed as something of a joke for quite some time now. A couple of years back, it looked like they had turned a corner, but the circus is back in town heading into this season. The decision to sign DeShaun Watson to a ridiculously huge contract was always going to be an iffy decision, but it is blowing up in their face as we speak. He looked awful in his time on the field last week and is looking down the barrel of a season-long suspension if the NFL gets their way. I think all of this adds up to a loss this weekend against a Philadelphia Eagles team that is on the rise.

Arizona Cardinals Vs Baltimore Ravens

I don’t want to be the guy who ends up being a jinx, but it is very hard to bet against the Baltimore Ravens in the preseason. Going all the way back to 2016, the Ravens have now put together a 21-game win streak in preseason matchups. While it is certainly an impressive streak, it’s one that means very little in the grand scheme of things, except to bettors, who are on the lookout for these types of trends. It doesn’t seem to matter who the Raven play in the preseason, as they always seem to find a way to win. For that reason alone, I have the Arizona Cardinals in as a sure loser in Week 3 of the preseason.

I have read enough, I need to place my bet now. What to do?

NFL 2021 Preseason Week 3 Analysis: Teams to Bet Against

Previous Betting News

NFL Preseason Week 2 is in the books, which means football handicappers must turn their attention to NFL Preaseason Week 3. Big matchups await, including the Chiefs hosting the Vikings and the Bills taking on Green Bay. Check out a list of NFL squads to bet against in the final preseason week of the year. Let’s jump right into action so you can get ready to make your bets against their NFL odds.

Examining NFL Preseason Bet-Against Teams for Week 3

2021 NFL Preseason Week 3

Bet against the Philadelphia Eagles versus the New York Jets

The Philadelphia Eagles are in trouble. Preseason games aren’t always a good barometer of what a team will do in during the season, but in this case, Philly’s performance in their first two preseason contests is.

Pittsburgh and New England have easily handled the Eagles. The Patriots beat Philadelphia 35-0 in NFL Preseason Week 2. The Jets won’t have to start Zach Wilson to dominate because neither Jalen Hurts nor Joe Flacco will beat the Jets’ defense.

Bet against the Minnesota Vikings at the Kansas City Chiefs

The very best teams can’t help but play well, which is why the Chiefs have won both their preseason games. Kansas City won’t play a single starter to get past the Vikings on Friday night.

Minnesota is 0-2 in a couple of preseason matches. It doesn’t look like Viking players are on the same page. KC’s second unit hasn’t made a mistake and there’s no way Mike Zimmer plays Minnesota starters Kirk Cousins, Justin Jefferson, and Dalvin Cook.

Bet against the Green Bay Packers at the Buffalo Bills

Buffalo’s offensive system allows any quarterback, even ones with basic skills, to succeed. The Bills scored 41 points in their last preseason game.

Buffalo won’t require 41 points to beat and cover against the Green Bay Packers. Neither Aaron Rodgers nor Jordan Love will play. Also, the Packers must rest their best offensive lineman because, like every season it seems, Green Bay is thin along the O-line.

Bet against the Arizona Cardinals at the New Orleans Saints

Coach Sean Payton has yet to decide who will start at quarterback. Jameis Winston could play a half. Taysom Hill could play the other half.

Arizona won’t put Kyler Murray or DeAndre Hopkins in harms way. The Cardinals won’t score enough to beat or cover against the Saints.

Bet against the Los Angeles Rams versus the Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos are this preseason’s most impressive team. The Broncos followed up a 33-6 victory over Minnesota on Aug. 14 by shellacking the Seattle Seahawks 30-3 on Aug. 21.

The Rams have lost both their preseason games. Coach Sean McVay won’t play his starters while the Broncos’ defense can’t help but dominate.

Bet against the Chicago Bears at the Tennessee Titans

The Bears beat Miami 20-13 in their first preseason game. Buffalo drubbed Chicago 41-15 in the Bears’ second preseason game.

Tennessee has beaten Atlanta 23-3 and Tampa Bay 34-3 in their two preseason contests. From the starters to the third string, Tennessee is playing great football. Chicago won’t know what hit them.

Bet against the Dallas Cowboys versus the Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville coach Urban Meyer may require the third preseason game to decide if he wants to start Trevor Lawrence in the first regular season game.

Gardner Minshew II is a solid backup. So the Jaguars could play their starting wide receivers and starting offensive line to give Minshew II and Lawrence another look.

The Cowboys will sit most of their starters, including the Big Three: QB Dak Prescott, RB Ezekiel Elliott, and WR Amari Cooper. The Jags roll.

Bet against the New York Giants versus the New England Patriots

Like the Saints and Jaguars, New England head coach Bill Belichick hasn’t decided on his first week starting quarterback. Belichick said that, for now, Newton is the starter.

Notice how the Patriots head coach added the words for now? That’s a sign New England plays both Cam Newton and rookie Mac Jones in this.

The Giants won’t play any of their offensive starters, including Newton and Jones should lead the Patriots to another preseason victory and cover.

2018 NFL Preseason Week 3 Sure Winners

Previous Betting News

If it’s the third week of the NFL preseason, that means we’re going to see some ‘real’ action with every team in the league, generally playing their No. 1s for at least a half. With that thought in mind – and the league’s best players – taking the field this coming weekend, let’s find out where the best pro-football betting value can be found. Here is a look at my top three ‘sure winners’ for the 2018 NFL Preseason Week 3.

2018 NFL Preseason Week 3 Sure Winners

Philadelphia Eagles (0-2) at Cleveland Browns (1-1)

The Eagles fell to 0-2 in the preseason by losing to New England 37-20 on Thursday while losing backup quarterback Nick Foles in the process. The good news, however, is that Foles is already back on the field after suffering a minor strain, not to mention the fact that the Birds found out that hey, Nate Sudfeld is pretty damned good. The third-year signal-caller had an encouraging outing by going 22 of 39 for 312 yards with three touchdowns and one interception.

The Browns ended up on the wrong side of a narrow 19-17 home loss against Buffalo in Week 2 following their uplifting 20-10 Week 1 win against the Giants. Quarterbacks Tyrod Taylor and Baker Mayfield combined to go 11 of 20 for 97 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions, while the rushing attack led the way. Veteran Carlos Hyde rushed for 64 yards and one touchdown on nine carries while rookie Nick Chubb added 53 rushing yards and a touchdown on 11 rushes.

The Eagles might be 0-2 heading into Week 3, but they’ve still got a great backup quarterback in Nick Foles and now, some desire to play well and get at least one confidence-boosting win. You had best believe that Philly’s starters are going to want to play well in what will be the most action they’ll see this preseason. I know Cleveland is completely revamped and that they’ve looked more than competent in splitting their first two preseason games. However, Cleveland has not scored more than the 20 points they put on the board in their opener, so, even though they’re remodeled, they’re also not exactly lighting up the scoreboard. I like Philly to get a good performance from Nick Foles and third-stringer Nate Sudfeld who clearly belongs on some NFL roster.

Pick: Philadelphia Eagles 24 – Cleveland Browns 23

Seattle Seahawks (0-2) at Minnesota Vikings (1-1)

Seattle fell to 0-2 on the preseason by losing to the L.A. Chargers 24-14 on Saturday despite getting an extended appearance from Russell Wilson as he went 13 for 21 for 193 yards. Third-stringer Alex McGough passed for 97 yards and one touchdown in the loss. Minnesota fell to 1-1 on the preseason by losing to Jacksonville 14-10 in Week 2 as new starting quarterback Kirk Cousins went a modest 3 for 8 in limited action and backups Kyle Sloter and Trevor Siemian combined to go 15 for 25 for 128 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.

Let me start by saying that Minnesota has the best defense in all of football and just missed ranking first across the board in 2017. In addition to that, I’m expecting the Vikings to be more potent offensively in 2018 with quarterback Kirk Cousins replacing Case Keenum and dual-threat running back Dalvin Cook back on the field after a tantalizing rookie debut that was cut short by injury.

Seattle still has a superstar of the highest caliber in quarterback Russell Wilson and they’ve also got some nice talent at other positions. However, the Seahawks are now a team that I believe will need a bit of time to forge their new identity while Minnesota is set in the knowledge of who they are and how they want to play this coming season.

I like the Vikings to get the big preseason win and send a message to all of their NFC counterparts that they’re going to be very for real this coming season.

Pick: Seattle Seahawks 23 – Minnesota Vikings 27

Detroit (0-2) at Tampa Bay (2-0)

Detroit fell to an uninspiring 0-2 this preseason by getting smacked around by the Giants in their 30-17 Week 2 loss. Matt Stafford was just 2 for 5 for 51 yards and was under pressure every time he dropped back to pass. Backup Jake Rudock had a good game by going 23 of 30 for 171 yards with one touchdown. Still, first-time head coach Matt Patricia wasn’t happy afterward.

Tampa Bay improved to 2-0 in the preseason by overpowering Tennessee en route to a commanding 30-14 win. Jameis Winston threw for 226 yards and two touchdowns in just one quarter before sitting. The bad news is that veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick was pedestrian in going 5 of 13 for 46 yards.

I’m going to advise you to back the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to hold it down at home in this Week 3 matchup of playoff hopefuls. The Buccaneers will play Jameis Winston at least a half in this one and I think the former Florida State star will continue to shine as he has throughout this preseason. This game and some spot duty in Week 4 will be Winston’s last action since he has to sit out the first three games of the regular season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

Pick: Detroit Lions 24 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28

NFL Preseason Week 3 Winning SU Picks

Previous Betting News

I honestly don’t recommend betting on the NFL preseason if being honest. But if you are going to, the best time to do it is Week 3 because that’s the game head coaches treat most like a regular-season affair. Thus you should see starters for the most part play at least the first half around the league. Here are two picks for this week within this article; moreover, you can also find the updated NFL betting odds for Week 3 preseason games .

Fins Play First Road Game

Miami is 1-1 in the preseason after losing 31-7 at home last Thursday to Baltimore in Jay Cutler’s Dolphins debut. He played the first two series for the Dolphins, was 3 of 6 for 24 yards, some of it in a no-huddle tempo, and his highlight play was one that didn’t count. Facing a third-and-16, Cutler stepped up and found DeVante Parker for what would have been a 31-yard gain — one erased by a holding flag. Senorise Perry had an 11-yard touchdown run for Miami, but he also fumbled away a kickoff return. The Dolphins also had a punt blocked in the second quarter.

Miami has been gutted by injuries and has signed former Bengals LB Rey Maualuga. Maualuga played eight seasons (114 games) for the Bengals before being released in March. For his career, he has 584 combined tackles and 4.0 sacks. Two of those seasons were played under current Miami defensive coordinator Matt Burke. The Dolphins are hurting at middle linebacker after losing second-round pick and potential starter Raekwon McMillan (knee) for the season in Miami’s first exhibition game.

Undrafted third-year player Mike Hull started in place of McMillan against the Ravens and will compete with Maualuga for the remainder of the preseason.

Eagles Also 1-1

Philly played its first home exhibition game last Thursday and beat Buffalo 20-16 after losing Week 1 in Green Bay. Alshon Jeffery, a former Pro Bowl wide receiver signed by the Eagles in the offseason, caught his first pass from Carson Wentz and finished with two receptions for 23 yards. Jeffery didn’t play Week 1.

Eagles WRs coach Mike Groh believes Alshon Jeffery is “behind” mentally after missing time early in camp. He said that after Jeffery ran a bad route in Thursday’s preseason game. The play was one the Eagles have run two different ways in practice and Jeffery seemed to be confused by it. “Anytime you miss the amount of time that he did, he’s a little bit behind,” said Groh. “Fortunately, we have time for him to catch up.”

Coach Doug Pederson said first-round DE Derek Barnett will start getting more work with the starters after back-to-back impressive preseason performances. Barnett has been one of the best players on both sides of the ball so far this exhibition season. According to Pro Football Focus, he has three sacks, a QB hit, and four hurries through two games.

Kansas City Chiefs at Seattle Seahawks

When: Friday, Aug. 25, 8 PM ET
Where: CenturyLink Field, Seatle
TV: CBS
Radio: Sirius XM Radio
Opening NFL Week 3 Lines: TBA

Chiefs Play Final Road Game

Kansas City opened the preseason with a 27-17 home loss to San Francisco but then won 30-12 in Cincinnati last week. Rookie Patrick Mahomes threw a pair of touchdown passes, solidifying his spot as the Chiefs’ primary backup to Alex Smith. Mahomes, the 10th overall pick from Texas Tech, was 10 of 14 for 88 yards with touchdowns of 1 and 7 yards. The Chiefs scored on each of their first five possessions for a 30-9 lead. Smith was 8 of 9 for 83 yards with a TD, and Tyler Bray threw an 18-yard touchdown on his first play. Kansas City had up 410 yards, including 228 rushing. Charcandrick West ran for 113 yards on only seven carries.

Rookie RB Kareem Hunt “tweaked” his ankle in Saturday’s preseason game, but coach Andy Reid said he’s “fine.” Hunt, a very popular fantasy dynasty pick, was seen getting taped up after his final touch, but it didn’t have the looks of a serious issue. Hunt was great against the Bengals, finishing with eight rushes for 40 yards and three catches for 23. He’s putting heat on Spencer Ware for the starting job.

Reid said safety Eric Berry would probably get some work in practice this week and perhaps play on Friday night against the Seahawks depending on how he fares. “I’m being a little bit conservative in that area,” Reid said. “I think we know what he can do. But at the same time I want to make sure he’s comfortable going into our first game against New England.” Berry hasn’t practiced or played for a couple weeks because of what the Chiefs are calling a heel injury.

Seahawks Are 2-0

Seattle blew out the Chargers in the preseason opener and then beat Minnesota 20-13 last week. However, the club suffered a big loss as left tackle George Fant tore his ACL in his right knee during the game and will have to undergo season-ending surgery. Fant suffered the injury with 8 minutes, 49 seconds left in the second quarter. He was moving backward in pass protection when teammate Justin Britt, who was on the ground, rolled into him.

Second-year player Rees Odhiambo took over at left tackle. Luke Joeckel, who has been playing left guard, could also be an option to play that spot going forward. The offensive line was a major problem last year so this is the last thing Seattle needs.

QB Russell Wilson looked good vs. the Vikings, completing 13 of 18 passes for 206 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. So far in the preseason, Wilson is 16-for-22 for 247 yards. Two of those incompletions were throwaways. And two more were drops.

NFL Week 3 Expert Predictions

I’ve said it before and will again: unless there’s a good reason not to, bet the home teams in a preseason game. So go Eagles and Seahawks here.

NFL Preseason Week 3 Bet-On And Bet-Against Teams

Previous Betting News

The most important dress rehearsal for the upcoming season is here and we have a brief guide of the teams you should pick or fade in the NFL preseason Week 3 online betting lines.

Analyzing The NFL Preseason Week 3 Bet-On And Bet-Against Teams

Bet-on NFL Preseason Week 3 Teams

Pittsburgh Steelers at New Orleans Saints

Both the Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers are 0-2 in the preseason, so something’s gotta give when the two meet this weekend. Given that we are in Week 3, we are bound to see starters from both teams getting some solid playing time on the field, and that should favor the well-stacked Steelers, as Ben Roethlisberger and his teammates possibly get off to a flying start against New Orleans’ in-transition defense. Even so, Drew Brees and his offense should be able to hang close. And then, when the backups take to the field, look for the Saints to take over and outplay the washed-off Landry Jones and his fellow backups that have disappointed mightily in the preseason so far.

San Diego Chargers at Minnesota Vikings

As if it’s not enough that the Vikings already have two marquee preseason wins at Cincinnati and at Seattle for a perfect 2-0 record, Minny will be officially launching the new U.S. Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis, and that will definitely psyche up the team to do it big for the fans. Obviously, San Diego’s winning performance over Arizona was encouraging, especially after the Bolts were destroyed by the Titans in Week 1 of the preseason, so writing Philip Rivers and his gang would be uncalled for. Still, with Minny’s defense firing on all cylinders, Adrian Peterson and Teddy Bridgewater receiving good minutes on the field, and head coach Mike Zimmer boasting of a stellar 10-1 preseason record since he joined the Vikings three seasons ago; Minnesota warrants full value as a solid bet-on team in this fixture.

Bet-against NFL Preseason Week 3 Teams

Buffalo Bills at Washington Redskins

The Redskins tend to play quite well at home, but this is the preseason, so that home edge probably won’t matter much here. In terms of the starters and backups, I am a bit torn between the Tyrod Taylor offensive unit and the Kirk Cousins unit, but with Buffalo owning a way better defense than Washington, I feel that Washington is a false favorite here and the betting value should be with Buffalo at +2.5. If you can get a better number at +3, the better for you.

New York Jets at New York Giants

Let’s be honest, the Giants have been a disappointing bunch so far in the preseason. Their New York counterparts haven’t been that better, but Bryce Petty is doing good things under the center and the pressure on Geno Smith–I believe–will make him give his all in his game if he is to save his fading position as the Jets’ backup QB. The Jets should also be helped by the fact that the G-Men have mega problems in their offensive line (8 turnovers so far in the preseason). Add to the fact that the Jets have owned this Battle of Gotham City series, going 16-7 SU and 16-6-1 ATS in their last 23 meetings vs. the G-Men, we don’t need to tell you twice to bet against the Giants.

Summary of Recommended NFL Preseason Week 3 Picks: Saints (-1), Vikings (-4), Buffalo (+2.5), Jets (+2.5)

Preseason Week 3 Betting Underdogs

Previous Betting News

The third week of the preseason is easily the most interesting one — probably the only interesting one. Why? Every team’s starters will play the most of any exhibition game, usually at least a half but obviously that depends on the head coach. Here are two underdogs on NFL lines I would back this week.

Here’s a Look at the Preseason Week 3 Betting Underdogs

Cleveland Browns at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-4)

Tampa Bay has a 4-4 record against Cleveland in preseason play and the two teams will meet for the second year in a row. The Browns present the only 3-4 defense on Tampa Bay’s preseason schedule, which was one of the reasons that Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter was eager to work out an extended week with Hue Jackson’s squad. Once the regular season arrives, the Buccaneers’ offense is going to be all too familiar with the 3-4.

“Cleveland is a 3-4 defense and we’re going to see like eight 3-4 teams over the course of the year, so two extra days of worcking against a 3-4 are huge and then they’re a zone-read team on offense,” said Koetter. “That’s not all they do, but over the first couple of games they’ve probably averaged, I’ll say, six or seven zone-read plays a game where the first two teams [we played], not so much. And we need to see zone-read for down the road when we play teams like San Francisco and Seattle and Carolina, of course. Each team is a little bit different, but just playing and working against different guys is good.”

After a standout performance in Saturday’s win in Jacksonville, Bucs rookie CB Vernon Hargreaves began to get some work with the starting defense at outside cornerback on Monday.

I like Cleveland here because Griffin III seems to be gaining confidence by the day and the Bucs have looked really undisciplined and shaky at times this preseason.

Philadelphia Eagles at Indianapolis Colts (-3)

It’s not often you can find a starter off the street this late in the preseason but the Eagles might have done just that in signing linebacker Stephen Tulloch to a one-year deal worth up to $3 million, including $1.75 million guaranteed. The move reunites Tulloch with Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, under whom Tulloch played in Detroit. Tulloch will compete with Jordan Hicks in the middle. The Eagles could decide to move Hicks to the weakside, but Coach Doug Pederson said that is not the plan right now.

The Eagles will have kicker Caleb Sturgis available. He was cleared from a concussion and returned to practice Monday, ending one of the more bizarre injury stories you will hear. Before last Thursday night’s game, Sturgis was going through pregame warmups without a helmet. He had just kicked a field goal when an errant Donnie Jones punt soared through the air and hit him on the top of the head. The veteran sustained his first-ever concussion and missed the game. Sturgis has a chance to beat out Cody Parkey for the kicker job. On Monday in practice, he outkicked him again Sturgis nailed all five of his field goal attempts early in practice — from 28, 33, 36, 39 and 42 yards — while Parkey went 4 for 5, missing a 42-yarder wide left.

Indianapolis will be without one of its best defensive players in Pro Bowl cornerback Vontae Davis. He has a right ankle sprain and is week-to- week. Davis’ injury adds to a secondary that is dealing with a number of setbacks. Patrick Robinson, who is expected to start with Davis, has a groin injury. Nickel cornerback Darius Butler is working his way back from a hamstring injury. Davis went through a stretch where he didn’t give up a touchdown reception in 25 straight games, and the Colts don’t have to worry much about giving up big plays on his side of the field.

No Davis means back Eagles on NFL odds.

NFL Preseason Week 3 Betting Guide

Previous Betting News

If you haven’t been paying much attention to the NFL preseason, now may be the time to start. Week 3 is when we usually get an extended look at the starters for each team, and when we will most certainly be saying goodbye to a lot of the fringe players who played in the opening two weeks. We are still not going to get a real representation of what to expect from the coming season, as every team will still be running offensive and defensive schemes that are of the vanilla variety. All of this makes predicting the preseason very tough, but let’s see if we can’t pick some winners and losers for Week 3 of the NFL preseason.

Analyzing The NFL Preseason Week 3 Bet-On And Bet-Against Teams

Week 3 Teams to Bet On

It’s not often that I bet against the Seattle Seahawks at home, but they are going up against a Dallas Cowboys team that may very well have found its next franchise QB. We all try not to get too carried away with preseason performances, but what Dak Prescott has delivered in his first two games is nothing short of spectacular. So much so that people are now talking about a potential QB controversy in Big D. I’m taking the Cowboys to win this one on the road.

The word is that Colin Kaepernick will finally get some playing time against the Green Bay Packers in Week 3, and that could be bad news for the 49ers. He is going to have to shake off the rust, and that could well lead to mistakes being made that the Cheeseheads capitalize on. The Packers are a perfect 2-0 in the preseason, and all without really showcasing their starters. This should be a game that they win quite handily.

Week 3 Teams to Bet Against

The Oakland Raiders are one of the teams that everyone is going to be watching this season, as there is a definite sense that something big is about to happen there. They started out their preseason with a comfortable win versus the Cardinals, followed by a loss to the Packers on the road. We will have a better idea of what they are all about by the end of their Week 3 game against the Tennessee Titans. This will be the first home game for the Raiders in preseason, so look for them to impress.

You have to feel a certain level of sympathy for the San Diego Chargers players, as they are playing with a shadow over their heads that no other team has. They struggled last year as rumors swirled about the franchise being moved, and they will have to do the same again this year. They have gone 1-1 in the preseason so far, but look to be up against it in Week 3 with a trip to Minnesota to face the Vikings, who are 2-0 in preseason, and who have only given up 27 points in those 2 games. This should be a loss for the Chargers.
