Boxing Events on September Bouts

There aren’t many fights happening this weekend.

The lone bouts of note take place in Hamilton, New Zealand where Lani Daniels puts her IBF Women’s Light Heavyweight title on the line against Bolatito Oluwole.

Because the action in the ring is so light this weekend, it’s a good moment to again catch up on everything that’s happened recently in the world of boxing.

Check out this week’s boxing update.

Writer’s Boxing Picks Happening This Weekend

Nayoa “The Monster” Inoue Dominates TJ Doheny

The odds on Inoue versus Doheny suggested a dominant performance from Nayoa and The Monster didn’t disappoint.

Inoue entered the ring a -5000 moneyline choice.

He toyed with Doheny early on Tuesday morning in the United States before the former champion took a knee after 16 seconds into Round 7.

Once again, Inoue displayed some of the best body punching the sport has ever seen.

The Monster ripped a barrage of punches to Doheny’s midsection and liver.

After Doheny turned his back on Inoue, Nayoa calmly walked to the other side of the ring before Doheny began to stumble.

Once Doheny took the knee, the declared the bout finished.

Bob Arum, Inoue’s promoter, said that The Monster will fight one more time in front of his fans in Japan before fighting in Las Vegas as the headliner of a spectacular card.

The sure fire hall of famer brought his record to 28-0 with 25 knockouts after the inspiring victory.

Diego Pacheco’s Star Continues to Rise

This past Saturday, Diego Pacheco showed he might be ready to face Alvarez, Berlanga, or anybody else in the super middleweight division.

The world’s fourth ranked super middleweight, depending on the organization where you check out the rankings, dominated Maciej Sulecki via a Round 6 stoppage.

The loss was Sulecki’s first since 2021.

For Pacheco, the victory was a showcase of his awesome talent.

Diego is now 22-0 with 18 knockout wins.

He’s KO’d 10 of his last 11 opponents.

Amazon gets into the boxing game with Canelo versus Berlanga

On Sep 14, Amazon throws their hat into the boxing streaming ring when Prime Video PPV puts on a fantastic fight card headlined by Canelo Alvarez versus Edgar Berlanga.

Alvarez is the favorite to hand Berlanga his first professional loss.

The pre-fight card is fantastic.

Danny Garcia versus Erislandy Lara should be the fight of the night.

The two veterans are terrific boxers with a history of laying it all in the ring.

Before Garcia versus Lara, Caleb Plant takes on Trevor McCumby in an interesting bout.

Stephen Fulton is also on the fight card.

Fulton throws down against Carlos Castro.

The action gets off with a bang when Rolly Romero goes against Manuel Jaimes.

I’ll handicap the Amazon Prime bouts in next week’s article.

In the meantime, sit back and watch the Inoue versus Doheny replay.

It’s not often we get to see a sure fire hall of fame boxer at the top of his game.

Boxing Betting Events: Canelo Faces Charlo for All Four Title Belts

Previous Betting News

On Saturday night, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez puts his four super middleweight title belts on the line versus talented Jermell Charlo.

Does Alvarez still have what it takes to hold off contenders like Charlo? Or will the underdog send Canelo closer to retirement?

Check out boxing betting odds, analysis, and a free pick for Charlo versus Alvarez as well as four other of this Saturday’s top boxing matches.

Boxing Betting Events: Canelo Faces Charlo for All Four Title Belts | MyBookie Boxing Betting Preview

Boxing Events: Saturday, September 30th, 2023

Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela vs Yeis Gabriel

Boxing Odds: Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela -666; Yeis Gabriel +381
Middleweight
Gollaz record: 27-3-1
Gabriel record: 15-2-0
Saturday, September 30th, 2023
T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada – Showtime PPV

Underdog Yeis Gabriel has a decent 15-2 record. Not only is the record nice, but Yeis has scored 10 stoppage wins, 6 via straight up knockout and 4 via technical knockout.

Yeis, though, hasn’t fought since 2021. Also, in his last couple of bouts, both state side and both in 2021, the underdog in this lost.

Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela is 27-3-1 with 16 stoppage victories. Valenzuela has won his last 2 fights, a first round victory against Yves Ulysses Jr. and a split-decision win over Steve Spark.

Valenzuela should take this, but the latest wins came against fighters that don’t possess Gabriel’s skill. The big time dog has a chance to bite.

Boxing Pick: Yeis Gabriel +381 | Bet Jesus Ramos Jr. vs Erickson Lubin Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout

Elijah Garcia vs Armando Resendiz

Boxing Odds: Elijah Garcia -417; Armando Resendiz +295
Middleweight
Garcia record: 15-0 | 12 KOs
Resendiz record: 14-1 | 10 KOs
Saturday, September 30th, 2023
T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada – Showtime PPV

The odds on the favorite, Elijah Garcia, makes the up and coming boxer an underlay. No doubt, Garcia can win this. He has a fantastic 15-0 record with 12 stoppage wins.

But in his last, versus the best opponent he’s faced, Kenneth Zambrano, Garcia required a unanimous decision to score the victory. On Saturday, Garcia takes on a tough boxer in Armando Resendiz.

The 1-loss Resendiz has 14 wins, 10 came via stoppage. The +295 underdog’s lone loss happened in 2021. Since then, Resendiz has won 2 straight, including knocking out Jarrett Hurd in the tenth in his last. The underdog can get it done.

Boxing Pick: Armando Resendiz +295 | Bet Jesus Ramos Jr. vs Erickson Lubin Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout

Mario Barrios vs Yordenis Ugas

Boxing Odds: Mario Barrios +193; Yordenis Ugas -285
WBC Interim Welterweight Title
Barrios record: 27-2 | 18 KOs
Ugas record: 27-5 | 12 KOs
Saturday, September 30th, 2023
T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada – Showtime PPV

Here’s another fight where the odds don’t make much sense. For sure, Yordenis Ugas can beat Mario Barrios.

But Barrios’ 2 losses came against two of the best in the past decade, Gervonta Davis and Keith Thurman. After the Thurman loss, Barrios bounced back with an eighth round TKO win against Jovanie Santiago in February this year.

Ugas hasn’t fought since losing to Errol Spence Jr. in April 2022. Backing Barrios makes sense.

Boxing Pick: Mario Barrios +193 | Bet Jesus Ramos Jr. vs Erickson Lubin Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout

Jesus Ramos Jr. vs Erickson Lubin

Boxing Odds: Jesus Ramos Jr. -454, Erickson Lubin +284
Junior middleweight
Ramos Jr. record: 35-1-1 | 35 KOs
Lubin record: 20-0 | 16 KOs
Saturday, September 30th, 2023
T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada – Showtime PPV

We’d love to go with Lubin in this match, but Erickson is up against it. Lubin is fighting well enough for the win. The underdog in this beat Luis Arias via fifth round TKO in his last.

So Lubin can win. But Jesus Ramos Jr. has the look of a future champion. The 22-year-old from Casa Grande, Arizona is 20-0 with 16 knockout or technical knockout wins. Ramos Jr. could end Lubin’s night early. So if you want to go for a higher payout, look for a TKO or KO prop.

Boxing Pick: Jesus Ramos Jr. -454 | Bet Jesus Ramos Jr. vs Erickson Lubin Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout

Jermell Charlo vs Canelo Alvarez

Boxing Odds: Jermell Charlo +282; Canelo Alvarez -454
Super Middleweight Undisputed Title
Charlo record: 35-1-1 | 35 KOs
Alvarez record: 59-2-2 | 39 KOs
Saturday, September 30th, 2023
T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada – Showtime PPV

Now might be the time to take a shot against the great Canelo Alvarez. Canelo didn’t look great in his last, a unanimous decision victory over Jon Ryder.

Alvarez wasn’t as sharp as he had been in his previous fights. The loss to Dmitri Bivol may have taken something out of Saul.

Charlo beat a good boxer in Brian Castano in his last. Jermell has a decent jab and throws quick combinations before stepping to the side and getting out of harm’s way. For sure, Alvarez will attempt to stalk Charlo but if Jermell can prevent Canelo from connecting with his power punches, the dog can win this.

Boxing Pick: Jermell Charlo +282 | Bet Jermell Charlo vs Canelo Alvarez Today

Boxing Bets: Ryan Battles McCaskill for WBO & WBC Women’s Welterweight Titles

Previous Betting News

Sandy Ryan takes on Jessica McCaskill for the WBO and WBC Women’s Welterweight straps on Saturday in one of this weekend’s top boxing events. The McCaskill versus Ryan bout happens right before the main event on DAZN’s card, Richardson Hitchins versus Jose Zepeda.

Earlier on Saturday in London, Joe Joyce throws down against Zhilei Zhang in a rematch of a bout that went to Zhang.

Check out boxing betting odds, analysis, and free picks for six of the top boxing events happening on Saturday, Sep 23.

Boxing Events: Saturday, September 23rd, 2023

Pierce O’Leary vs Kane Gardner

Boxing Odds: Pierce O’Leary -769; Kane Gardner +409
Middleweight Bout
O’Leary record: 16-2 | 6 KOs
Gardner record: 12-0 | 7 KOs
Saturday, September 23rd, 2023
Copper Box Arena, London, England – ESPN+

Underdog "Sugar Kane" Gardner has a sweet 16-2 record. The dog in this has stopped 7 of his opponents. Also, Gardner hasn’t lost since 2021 when he dropped a majority decision in a 3 rounder against Tom Farrell.

But although Gardner has the look of an underdog with a shot, he shouldn’t get by favorite Pierce O’Leary. The -769 choice is undefeated at 12-0. O’Leary has stopped 7 of his opponents before going to scorecards, including winning his last via first round TKO versus Alin Florin Cioceri. O’Leary has a real chance of ending this before the final bell.

Boxing Pick: Pierce O’Leary | Bet Pierce O’Leary vs Kane Gardner Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout

Joe Joyce vs Zhilei Zhang

Boxing Odds: Joe Joyce -107; Zhilei Zhang -128
WBO Heavyweight Interim Title
Joyce record: 15-0 | 14 KOs
Zhang record: 24-1-1 | 19 KOs
Saturday, September 23rd, 2023
Copper Box Arena, London, England – ESPN+

Joe "Juggernaut" Joyce is 15-1 with 14 stoppage bouts. On Saturday, Joyce will be determined to exact revenge over 40-year-old Zhilei Zhang.

Zhang proved he’s got the better chin between the two, which is why Zhilei is the -128 chalk. But although Zhang has proven he can beat Joyce, Joe wouldn’t take the rematch unless he felt he could turn the tables. Zhilei is a tough, strong, resilient fighter but Joyce makes the necessary adjustments. The slight dog gets the nod.

Boxing Pick: Joe Joyce | Bet Joe Joyce vs Zhilei Zhang Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout

Austin Williams vs Steve Rolls

Boxing Odds: Austin Williams -1666; Steve Rolls +623
WBA International & IBF North American Middleweight Titles
Williams record: 14-0 | 10 KOs
Rolls record: 22-2 | 12 KOs
Saturday, September 23rd, 2023
Caribe Royale Orlando, Orlando, FL – ESPN+

Steve Rolls is a talented fighter but this will be Rolls’ first bout of 2023. In his 2 fights last year, Rolls lost via unanimous decision to Edgar Berlanga and then beat then 13-0 Shady Gamhour via 10-round unanimous decision.

Austin Williams is not only 14-0 but she’s scored 10 TKO or KO wins. More importantly in regard to this bout, Williams is a better boxer than Berlanga and his power has been on display in more recent fight than Edgar’s. So if Rolls struggled to outbox Berlanga, he’s going to really struggle versus Williams.

Austin can win this before the final bell. For sure play under the total or look for a KO prop.

Boxing Pick: Austin Williams | Bet Sandy Ryan vs Jessica McCaskill Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout

Sandy Ryan vs Jessica McCaskill

Boxing Odds: Sandy Ryan -114; Jessica McCaskill -120
WBC, WBA, WBO, IBO & Ring Magazine World Welterweight Titles
Ryan record: 12-3 | 5 KOs
McCaskill record: 6-1 | 2 KOs
Saturday, September 23rd, 2023
Caribe Royale Orlando, Orlando, FL – ESPN+

Underdog Sandy Cathy Ryan is 2-0 with a couple of knockout victories. Since a split-decision loss to Erica Anabella Farias in 2022, Ryan has scored 3 straight wins. All 3 victories came via 10-round unanimous decision.

Jessica McCaskill is 12-3 with 5 stoppage wins. It’s difficult to separate these two. The odds imply a super close fight. Chantelle Cameron had success keeping McCaskill at the end of her jab. Ryan should have similar success, making Sandy the pick.

Boxing Pick: Sandy Ryan | Bet Sandy Ryan vs Jessica McCaskill Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout

Richardson Hitchins vs Jose Zepeda

Boxing Odds: Richardson Hitchins -416; Jose Zepeda +269
WBC & WBO Women’s Welterweight Titles
Hitchins record: 16-0 | 7 KOs
Zepeda record: 36-3 | 27 KOs
Saturday, September 23rd, 2023
Caribe Royale Orlando, Orlando, FL – ESPN+

Jose Zepeda is one of the most well-respected boxers in the super lightweight division. Zepeda has a nice 37-3 record with 28 stoppage victories.

Although three lesser belts are on the line in this bout, Zepeda takes on 16-0 Richardson Hitchins hoping to move into major title fight contention. Hitchins is already in the major title fight category.

So for Richardson, a victory pushes him into a potential title fight discussion. Hitchins has the boxing skills to get past the veteran. Back the chalk to cash.

Boxing Betting Events: William Zepeda Takes on Mercito Gesta on Saturday

Previous Betting News

William Zepeda puts his undefeated record on the line on Saturday when Zepeda takes on tough Mercito Gesta. Before Saturday’s Zepeda versus Gesta bout happens, two of the most skilled boxers on the planet throw down on Saturday night when Joet Gonzalez goes against Luis Alberto Lopez.

See below for boxing betting odds, analysis, and free picks for Zepeda versus Gesta, Lopez against Gonzalez, and three other of this weekend’s top matches.

Boxing Betting Events: William Zepeda Takes on Mercito Gesta on Saturday | MyBookie Boxing Betting Preview

Boxing Events: Friday, September 15th – Saturday, September 16th, 2023

Kevin Barron Crespo vs Christian Antonio Olivo Barreda

Boxing Odds: Kevin Barron Crespo -126; Christian Antonio Olivo Barreda -108
Featherweight Bout
Crespo record: 12-0 | 9 KOs
Barreda record: 20-1 | 7 KOs
Friday, September 15th, 2023
Auditorio Municipal Fausto Gutierrez Moreno, Tijuana, Mexico | DAZN

Crespo versus Barreda should be epic. Both fighters will bring a sterling record into the ring. Slight underdog Christian Antonio Olivo Barreda is 20-1-1 with 7 stoppage victories. Barreda’s loss came against then 18-0 Luis Reynaldo Nunez.

-126 favorite Kevin Barron Crespo is 12-0. Crespo has stopped 9 of his opponents before the final bell. Barreda, though, has fought the better opponents. No doubt this is Crespo’s toughest fight of his career. The slight underdog should use his experience to either outpoint Crespo or send his opponent to the mat for a TKO win.

Boxing Pick: Kevin Barron Crespo | Bet Angel Fierro vs Bryan Zamarripa Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout

Angel Fierro vs Bryan Zamarripa

Boxing Odds: Angel Fierro Over 8.5 -163; Bryan Zamarripa Under 8.5 +118
Featherweight Bout
Fierro record: 21-1 | 17 KOs
Zamarripa record: 13-1 | 4 KOs
Friday, September 15th, 2023
Auditorio Municipal Fausto Gutierrez Moreno, Tijuana, Mexico | DAZN

The underdog in this has an excellent 13-1 record. But although Zamarripa has a decent record, he’s a massive underdog, and rightfully so, versus Angel Fierro.

The favorite in this is 21-1-2 with 17 stoppage victories. Two fights ago, Fierro beat Jeremy Cuevas via sixth round technical knockout. Then in his last bout, Fierro got by Estela Eduardo via seventh round knockout.

Zamarripa’s loss came via decision. But Bryan has yet to taste the kind of power Angel Fierro will bring into this bout. Fierro ends Zamarripa’s night before Round 8.

Boxing Pick: Under 8.5 | Bet Angel Fierro vs Bryan Zamarripa Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout

Luis Alberto Lopez vs Joet Gonzalez

Boxing Odds: Luis Alberto Lopez Under 10.5 +174; Joet Gonzalez Over 10.5 -250
IBF World Featherweight Title
Lopez record: 28-2 | 16 KOs
Gonzalez record: 26-3 | 15 KOs
Friday, September 15th, 2023
American Bank Center, Corpus Christi, Texas | ESPN/ESPN+

Lopez versus Gonzalez will be an exciting fight. However, Joet is in some trouble. Gonzalez lost to Isaac Dogboe two fights ago and then in his last, Joet required 10 rounds to beat Enrigue Vivas via unanimous decision.

Luis Alberto Lopez hasn’t lost since 2019. Since then, Lopez has won 9 bouts. Lopez has won 4 of his last 5 bouts, versus Alex Lowe, Raul Chirino, Yeison Vargas, and Michal Conlan via straight up knockout. LAL is a monster. This goes under the total rounds.

Boxing Pick: Under 10.5 | Bet Luis Alberto Lopez vs Joet Gonzalez Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout

Maria Mancheo Santizo vs Yokasta Valle

Boxing Odds: Maria Mancheo Santizo Over 8.5 -400; Yokasta Valle Under 8.5 +261
IBF & WBO Strawweight Women’s Titles
Santizo record: 11-3
Valle record: 26-2 | 9 KOs
Saturday, September 16th, 2023
The Commerce Casino & Hotel, Commerce, California | DAZN

Costa Rican Yokasta Valle is one of the top women boxers on the planet. She’s 28-2 with 9 stoppage wins. Valle’s last loss came in 2018.

Most expect this fight to go the distance because Valle hasn’t stopped an opponent before the final bell in her last 8 fights. But Yokasta should be due for a knockout win and Maria Mancheo Santizo isn’t close to Valle’s skill level. Taking a shot on the under makes sense.

Boxing Pick: Under 8.5 | Bet Maria Mancheo Santizo vs Yokasta Valle Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout

William Zepeda vs Mercito Gesta

Boxing Odds: William Zepeda Over 6.5 -107, Mercito Gesta Under 6.5 -128
IBF World Featherweight Title
Zepeda record: 28-0 | 24 KOs
Gesta record: 34-3 | 17 KOs
Saturday, September 16th, 2023
The Commerce Casino & Hotel, Commerce, California | DAZN

Mercito Gesta has skills but he’s up against it big time versus William Zepeda. The favorite in this is 28-0 with 24 stoppage victories.

To make matters worse for Gesta, Zepeda beat Jaime Arboleda via second round knockout in his last. So William is in excellent form. Gesta has lost a fight via stoppage. It’s tough to predict when the knockout will happen, but since Zepeda will be all over Gesta from the opening bell, under is the play.

Boxing Betting Events: Masson vs Ngabu Go for IBO World Cruiserweight Title

Previous Betting News

The top boxing matches this week happen in Canada. Also, they take place on Friday, September 8.

The card features a bout between Christian Mbilli and Demond Nicholson. Before Mbilli and Nicholson square off, Alexandre Gaumont takes on Ulises Tovar Rivera and Steve Claggett throws down against Carlos Sanchez.

See below for boxing betting odds, analysis, and free picks for three terrific bouts in Gatineau, Quebec on Friday and a couple of fantastic matchups happening on Saturday.

Boxing Betting Events: Masson vs Ngabu Go for IBO World Cruiserweight Title | MyBookie Boxing Betting Preview

Boxing Events: Friday, September 8th – Saturday, September 9th, 2023

Alexandre Gaumont vs Ulices Tovar Rivera

Boxing Odds: Alexandre Gaumont -476; Ulices Tovar Rivera +294
Middleweight Bout
Gaumont record: 8-0 | 6 KOs
Tovar record: 8-0 | 5 KOs
Friday, September 8th, 2023
Lac Leamy Casino, Quebec, Canada – ESPN+

8-0 Ulices Tovar Rivera could be any kind of fighter. We know that Rivera has stopped 5 of his opponents before the final bell. We also know that Rivera has done most of his boxing in Mexico.

But although the gyms in Mexico are much better than those in Canada, we can’t endorse Rivera against a quality opponent like Alexandre Gaumont. The -476 favorite is 8-0 with 6 technical knockout or knockout wins.

Gaumont is on a 4-match stoppage streak. In his last, Alexandre beat then 6-2-1 Piotr Bis via second round TKO. The favorite keeps the good times going.

Boxing Pick: Alexandre Gaumont | Bet Alexandre Gaumont vs Ulices Tovar Rivera Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout

Steve Claggett vs Carlos Sanchez

Boxing Odds: Steve Claggett -476; Carlos Sanchez +290
Super Middleweight Bout | Defense WBC Continental Americas belt
Claggett record: 35-7-2 | 25 KOs
Sanchez record: 24-1 | 19 KOs
Friday, September 8th, 2023
Lac Leamy Casino, Quebec, Canada – ESPN+

Based on records and recent competition, Carlos Sanchez should be the favorite. The underdog in this is 24-1 with 19 stoppage wins. Sanchez last fought against undefeated Alexander Duran, beating that rival via sixth round technical decision. For sure, Sanchez is going to fight Claggett tough.

But the chalk has won six straight. Also, Claggett has comparable, if not more, experience because Steve’s record is 35-7-2. Another favored Canadian boxer rewards the Quebec fans with a victory.

Boxing Pick: Steve Claggett | Bet Steve Claggett vs Carlos Sanchez Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout

Christian Mbilli vs Demond Nicholson

Boxing Odds: Christian Mbilli -2500; Demond Nicholson +717
Super Middleweight Bout
Mbilli record: 24-0 | 20 KOs
Nicholson record: 26-5 | 22 KOs
Friday, September 8th, 2023
Lac Leamy Casino, Quebec, Canada – ESPN+

Nicholson has just 2 losses in his last 5. The losses were versus top competition, Edgard Berlanga via eighth round unanimous decision in 2021 and Demetrius Andrade via tenth round unanimous decision in January this year.

So the question is will Mbilli be an Andrade and Berlanga versus Nicholson? Or will Christian be one of the 3 fighters that Demond has beaten in his last 5?

The favorite in this has a 24-0 record with 20 stoppage wins. Mbilli mustn’t knock out his opponent, though. Christian has won his last couple via unanimous decision. The chalk takes this.

Boxing Pick: Christian Mbilli | Bet Christian Mbilli vs Demond Nicholson Today

Ligas record: 15-3-2 | 4 KOs
Saturday, September 9th, 2023
Burleigh Heads, Queensland, Australia – ESPN+

Favored Andres Campos has a terrific 15-1 record with 4 stoppage wins. Campos’ loss came in his last via unanimous decision versus then 19-0 Sunny Edwards.

Bienvenido Ligas is 15-3-2. Ligas won his last bout via unanimous decision over then 20-1 Genisis Libranza.

This should be a tough bout that goes the distance. Once the fight ends up in the judges hands, who knows? Taking the better odds on the dog makes sense.

Boxing Pick: Bienvenido Ligas | Bet Andres Campos vs Bienvenido Ligas Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout

Floyd Masson vs Yves Ngabu

Boxing Odds: Floyd Masson -232; Yves Ngabu +162
Super Cruiserweight Bout | IBO World Cruiserweight Title
Masson record: 13-0-0 | 7 KOs
Ngabu record: 21-2-0 | 15 KOs
Saturday, September 9th, 2023
Eatons Hill, Queensland, Australia – ESPN+

It’s going to be tough for Yves Ngabu to not suffer a knockout loss on Saturday. Ngabu is 21-2. However, both losses have happened in Ngabu’s last 4 bouts. Not only that, but 2 fights ago, Ngabu fought in a no contest.

Masson has a 13-0 record. Floyd has stopped 7 of his opponents before the final bell. The chalk goes to 14-0 and he has a good chance of doing so via TKO or KO.

Frankie Stringer vs Christian Flores

Boxing Odds: Frankie Stringer -3333; Christian Flores +816
Light Heavyweight Bout
Stringer record: 5-0
Flores record: 14-27-2 | 12 KOs
Tarczynski Arena, Wroclaw, Poland – ESPN+

Christian Flores should be favored Frankie Stringer’s opponent on Saturday. However, there’s a chance that Stringer throws down against Engel Gomez.

No matter who Frankie faces, he should get the victory. The key is whether Stringer secures his first stoppage win. Frankie is 5-0 but has yet to secure a KO or TKO win. Stringer and his corner know that if Frankie wants to fight for a title, he has to start showing power.

At this point in his career, at least a TKO victory is a necessity. So look for a knockout prop before backing Stringer at the money line odds.

Boxing Pick: Frankie Stringer | Bet Frankie Stringer vs Christian Flores Today

Aram Faniian vs Adam Azim

Boxing Odds: Aram Faniian +685; Adam Azim -2000
Light Heavyweight Bout
Faniian record: 8-0 | 5 KOs
Azim record: 23-1 | 6 KOs
AO Arena, Manchester, England

Based on records, Aram Faniian is going off at overlay odds. The Ukrainian boxer sports a 23-1 record. But Faniian has just 5 stoppage wins.

The lack of stoppage victories should work against the underdog in this. Adam Azim is 8-0 with 6 knockout victories. In his last, Azim beat then 12-0 Santos Reyes via unanimous decision.

The fight lasted 10 rounds. So we know that Azim can go the distance in this if he must. The best play, though, is under or on Azim to get the KO win. Adam goes back to his knockout winning ways.

Boxing Pick: Adam Azim | Bet Aram Faniian vs Adam Azim Today

Heffron versus Cullen should be a tough fight. Both men will go at it from the opening bell.

Mark Heffron, the big time chalk in this, has won 4 straight. Heffron has 23 stoppage wins from his 29 victories. For sure, Heffron will go right at Jack Cullen.

But although Heffron has power, his 2 losses came via TKO and a referee technical decision before the final bell. All 4 of Cullen’s losses came via stoppage, though, which is why the best play is on under the total rounds or on Mark to win via TKO or KO.

Boxing Pick: Mark Heffron | Bet Silvia Bortot vs Mikaela Mayer Today

Silvia Bortot vs Mikaela Mayer

Boxing Odds: Silvia Bortot +721; Mikaela Mayer -2500
lightweight Bout
Bortot record: 18-1 | 5 KOs
Mayer record: 11-2 | 3 KOs
AO Arena, Manchester, England

Massive underdog Silvia Bortot has a nice 11-2-1 record, but Bortot has just 3 stoppage wins. She also heads into this off a split-decision loss to then 6-0 Flora Pili.

No doubt, this is a massive step up in class for Bortot. Mikaela Mayer is one of the best women boxers on the planet. Mayer is 18-1 and has stopped 5 of her opponents before the final bell. Mikaela can get a sixth stoppage victory. So look for a prop before backing her on the money line.

Boxing Pick: Mikaela Mayer | Bet Silvia Bortot vs Mikaela Mayer Today
MyBookie Betting Lines for the Bout

Liam Smith vs Chris Eubank Jr | Rematch

Boxing Odds: Liam Smith -166; Chris Eubank Jr +119
Middleweight Bout
Smith record: 33-3-1 | 20 KOs
Eubank Jr record: 32-3 | 23 KOs
AO Arena, Manchester, England

In the first bout, Liam Smith dominated. The -166 favorite beat up Chris Eubank Jr., ending his opponent’s night in the fourth.

Eubank Jr was a bit too cocky in the first. Chris tried to keep Smith at the end of his jab. The problem is that Eubank Jr fires his jab from his hip. Smith timed the jab and then eventually got to the taller and lengthier fighter.

It’s difficult seeing Chris doing something different in the rematch. Smith has decent defense. Also, changing your style, deciding to go to a different defensive posture and throwing the jab from that defensive posture instead of your hip, is tough. Smith wins the rematch.

Boxing Pick: Liam Smith | Bet Liam Smith vs Chris Eubank Jr Today

Nery Versus Ruiz Garcia Highlights Saturday Action | Boxing Lines and Betting Picks

Boxing Events

When: Saturday, Oct. 2

Lourdes Juarez -333 vs Asley Gonzalez Macias +212

Boxing handicappers have every reason to believe Juarez beats Macias. The favored boxer in this match is not only 34-2, but hasn’t lost a bout in 8 years.

Jaurez has won 31 of her last 32. She didn’t lose the thirty-second bout. That fight ended in a no contest. So Jaurez hasn’t lost in 32 fights.

Macias doesn’t have experience close to Juarez’s. But Lourdes has limited power. She’s knocked out just 4 of her opponents. Macias has a 14-2 record with 7 knockout wins. The underdog can end Juarez’s impressive winning streak.

Boxing Pick: Asley Gonzalez Macias

Elvis Torres +226 vs Carlos Sanchez Valadez -357

Underdog Elvis Torres heads into this off a ninth round TKO loss to rival Erick Encinia. Torres and Encinia first fought last October. Torres won that bout via split-decision.

In the rematch, Encinia decided not to leave it up to the judges. Torres believes he can bounce back versus excellent boxer Carlos Sanchez Valadez. The chalk in this lost his last bout to Pedro Campa. No doubt, Campa is a better fighter than Torres. The favorite bounces back from his first defeat.

Boxing Pick: Carlos Sanchez Valadez

Marcelo Esteban Coceres +666 vs Meirim Nursultanov -2500

Coceres versus Nursultanov should be an entertaining bout. That doesn’t mean Coceres has any shot.

The massive dog has lost 3 of his last 5. Coceres did win his last bout but it was against a fighter with a 34-16 record. Nursultanov is 17-0. Not only is the favorite 17-0 but he’s won 10 of his bouts via TKO or KO. Look for a decent prop option before backing Meirim on the money line.

Boxing Pick: Meirim Nursultanov

Cobia Breedy -833 vs Sulaiman Segawa +418

At first glance, it sure looks as if chalk Cobia Breedy is in for a fight. Sulaiman Segawa has a good 13-3-1 record. But a closer look reveals that Breedy should dominate.

Cobia’s record is 15-1. The loss happened against well-regarded Tugstsogt Nyambayar.

These two fought last October 29. The ref ruled the bout a no-contest after Segawa had to leave the ring due to a cut from an accidental head butt. Breedy suffered zero damage and had been fighting the better competition. It’s tough to lay -833 but Segawa shouldn’t come close to taking the victory.

Boxing Pick: Cobia Breedy

Jesus Ruiz Garcia +386 vs Luis Nery -769

Saturday’s top boxing event pits Luis Nery against Jesus Ruiz Garcia. The underdog in this has a lot of experience. Ruiz Garcia is 43-9-5. Garcia has knocked out 31 of his opponents.

All of Ruiz Garcia’s experience should help him last a while versus the favored Nery. 32-1 with 24 knockout wins, Nery bounced back from a loss to Brandon Figeuroa in a May 2021 bout to beat then undefeated Carlos Castro via split decision in February this year.

It sure looks like Nery wins this. But Ruiz Garcia has a lot of talent and his last loss happened against Castro via majority decision in 2020. The dog can pull off the upset.

Boxing Pick: Jesus Ruiz Garcia

Undefeated Guido Vianello takes on Jonathan Rice on Saturday night in what should be an excellent bout. Vianello versus Rice is one of Saturday’s headline fights on a day when YouTube boxer Olajide Olatunji also throws down. Thomas Oliveira +644 vs Olajide Olatunji -1666

Olatunji, known as KSI to his fans, was supposed to take on mixed-martial-artist Dillon Danis. KSI last fought in August where he beat two fighters: YouTube rival Swarmz and Luis Pineda.

On Saturday, Olatunji takes on Thomas Olievera. Known as FaZe Temperrr, there’s some reason to believe the underdog in this gets it done.

Temperrr has a decent 2-1 record for an amateur. Not only that, but he trains as hard as KSI. Also, Olievera is 4 inches taller, weighs more, and has an inch reach advantage.

Sure, KSI should win. But the odds discount Olievera’s advantages. Temperrr has a much better shot than the odds imply.

Boxing Pick: Thomas Oliveira

Edwin Rodriguez +290 vs Floyd Diaz -476

American Floyd Diaz has a nice 8-0 record with 3 knockout victories. Diaz hopes to push the record to 9 when he throws down against veteran Edwin Rodriguez on Saturday.

Rodriguez is 11-6-2 with 5 knockout wins. Edwin last fought in 2021, which puts him at a disadvantage to win this. If Rodriguez is at the top of his game, he will out box his odds.

But there’s no telling Edwin’s shape. So although Diaz is a slight underlay at his odds, backing Floyd is the way to go.

Boxing Pick: Floyd Diaz

Abraham Nova -116 vs Adam Lopez -119

Abraham Nova versus Adam Lopez projects as one of this weekend’s most competitive matches. Nova last fought in June 2022. Abraham lost the bout but it was against well-regarded Robeisy Ramirez.

Adam Lopez is 16-3-1 with 6 knockout wins. Lopez beat William Encarnacion via unanimous decision in a bout that happened last May.

When odds dropped Lopez was more of a favorite. Late money has rolled onto Nova. But Ramirez exposed a few flaws in Abraham’s game. The slight chalk remains the choice.

Boxing Pick: Adam Lopez

Stephen Shaw -166 vs Efe Ajagba +120

Favored Stephan “Big Shot” Shaw is undefeated with an 18-0 record. Shaw has won 13 of his bouts via stoppage.

But although Shaw is undefeated, he’s a 3-year-old veteran up against a 28-year-old boxer with a single loss. Efe Ajagba lost to Frank Sanchez in 2021.

Last year, Ajagba bounced back with a fantastic victory over Jozsef Darmos. Efe beat Darmos via second-round technical knockout. No doubt, Ajagba is one of the toughest fighters Shaw has ever faced. Backing the dog makes sense.

Boxing Pick: Efe Ajagba

Jonathan Rice -136 vs Guido Vianello -101

Favored Jonathan Rice is 15-6-1 with 10 knockout victories. Rice has won his last 2 fights. Both bouts were against Michael Polite Coffie.

On Saturday, Rice takes on 10-0-1 Guido Vianello. The slight dog has won 9 of his bouts via stoppage. Vianello, no doubt, has what it takes to win this.

Rice hasn’t faced power like Vianello’s in a while. Guido is the pick.

Boxing Pick: Guido Vianello

Artur Beterbiev owns three of boxing’s light heavyweight division belts. Beterbiev would like nothing more than to grab the fourth. But before Artur can face off agianst Dmitry Bivol for the WBC Light Heavyweight Championship, he must get by Anthony Yarde in Yarde’s backyard on Saturday. When: Saturday, Jan. 28

Artem Dalakian -147 vs David Jimenez +106 | WBA Flyweight Title

London, England – 3:00 pm ET on ESPN+

Dalakian versus Jimenez should be a fantastic matchup. Artem is the slight favorite because he’s got a 21-0 record.

Not only is Dalakian undefeated but he also has 15 stoppage victories. Of those 15 stoppage wins, 13 were via technical knockout and 2 were via straight up knockout.

Jimenez is 12-0. David has 5 knockout wins, 3 technical knockout victories, and a referee technical decision victory. Jimenez last fought in July 2016.

Dalakian’s last bout was November 2021. Not only that, but this is Artem’s first fight outside of the Ukraine. Backing Jimenez makes sense.

Boxing Pick: David Jimenez

Anthony Yarde +430 vs Artur Beterbiev -833 | WBA, WBO, IBF Lightweight Titles

London, England – 3:00 pm ET on ESPN+

For sure, Yarde has skill. Anthony uses his feet well, moves in and out of trouble, and can throw with both hands.

But although Yarde is a skilled boxer, he’s in trouble. Artur Beterbiev is 18-0 with 18 knockouts for a reason. Beterbiev doesn’t just have power. He wins angles so that he can throw his most powerful shots.

Yarde also tends to leave his hands under his chin, which is a recipe for disaster. Beterbiev will land an overhand right or left that ends Yarde’s night early.

Boxing Pick: Artur Beterbiev

Oscar Collazo vs Yudel Reyes

Inglewood, CA – DAZN

Collazo was supposed to face Wilfredo Mendez. But Mendez suffered an injury a couple of weeks back, which is why when Oscar steps into the ring on Saturday, he’ll take on Yudel Reyes.

The underdog in this bout has an excellent 15-1 record. The knock against Reyes is that this is his first bout stateside. But if you can look past that issue, he’s good enough to challenge Collazo.

Oscar is 5-0 with 3 technical knockout wins. No doubt, he’s going to attract a ton of action. For sure, the likely favorite can win this. Backing Reyes, though, makes sense.

Boxing Pick: Oscar Collazo

Floyd Schofield -2500 vs Alberto Mercado +752

Inglewood, CA – DAZN

Alberto Mercado has a decent 17-4-1 record. However, Mercado has only stopped 4 of his opponents. That’s a huge red flag for those looking to back the underdog.

Floyd Schofield is one of the sports up and comers. 10 of Schofield’s 12 victories have come via stoppage. Floyd has knocked out 6 of his opponents, has won 3 via TKO, and has a referee technical decision victory on the record. Schofield ends Mercado’s night early. So, look for a knockout prop.

Boxing Pick: Floyd Schofield

Alexis Rocha vs Georgie Ashie

Inglewood, CA – DAZN

Rocha was supposed to fight Anthony Young, but Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De La Hoya’s boxing outfit, replaced Young with George Ashie. Once oddsmakers change the line, Alexis Rocha might be more than a -5000 favorite.

Does Ashie have any chance of upsetting Rocha? Ashie is 33-5-1 and has yet to fight outside of his native Ghana.

Ghana has terrific gyms. But Rocha is a legit welterweight title contender. So, no, Ashie doesn’t have much chance. Look for a knockout prop before accepting what’s likely to be -5000 or worse odds.

Boxing Pick: Alexis Rocha

When: Friday, Sep. 23

Estivan Falcao +190 vs Nahir Albright -294

Underdog Estivan Falcao has a record that suggests he should compete against favored Nahir Albright. Falcao is 11-0 with 6 knockout victories. Nahir Albright is 14-2.

Often, undefeated fighters, especially double-digit undefeated fighters, don’t show up as underdogs. But Falcao has only boxed in Brazil, which means Albright has faced the much better opponents.

Also, Falcao last fought in July 2021. The layoff won’t help the challenger close the gap. Albright is the pick.

Boxing Pick: Nahir Albright

Misael Lopez +296 vs Orlando Gonzalez Ruiz -526

There’s a reason to believe the underdog in this challenges the chalk. Misael Lopez has a great 13-1 record with 5 KO or TKO wins. Not only that, but Lopez has won 2 fights already this year.

Ruiz has an 18-1 record. The favorite in this match beat Pablo Cruz via fifth round knockout in a bout in June. Ruiz’s lone loss happened in a contest against excellent boxer Robeisy Ramirez. Although Lopez will fight hard, Ruiz should step out of the ring with a win. The chalk takes this.

Boxing Pick: Orlando Gonzalez Ruiz

Omar Tienda +953 vs Keyshawn Davis -10000

Veteran Omar Tienda is 25-5 with 18 technical knockout or knockout wins. Tienda has fought in Mexico exclusively, this is his first fight in the states, which is why 5-0 Keyshawn Davis is such a massive favorite.

After just 5 fights, many believe Davis is a contender for a lightweight title. In his last bout, this past April 30, Davis bested then 18-1 Esteban Sanchez.

Keyshawn beat Sanchez via sixth round TKO. Davis wins this for sure and the favorite should win via an early round knockout. Look for a KO prop before accepting the odds on the chalk.

Boxing Pick: Keyshawn Davis

Jose Sanchez +747 vs Jahi Tucker -3333

Undefeated Jahi Tucker is about 4 to 5 fights away from throwing down for a welterweight strap. Tucker has a terrific 8-0 record. Jahi has knocked out 5 of his opponents.

Jose Sanchez has an 11-2-1 record. Sanchez hasn’t come close to taking on a fighter as talented as Tucker. Jahi wins this. Make sure to look for a prop bet before backing the chalk at the odds.

Boxing Pick: Jahi Tucker

Robson Conceicao +535 vs Shakur Stevenson -1666 | WBC & WBO Super Featherweight Titles

Conceicao’s lone loss happened versus the terrific Oscar Valdez. Oscar is a very good boxer. Valdez, though, lost when he took on Shakur Stevenson.

Shakur outboxed Valdez. Stevenson isn’t a go for the knockout fighter. Shakur takes his time. Also, on Friday night, the champ takes on an opponent with a granite chin.

Conceicao won’t go down easily in this bout, which means the prop we look for should be for this match to go the 12 rounds. Over the total of 10.5 rounds is another option. Shakur wins this via unanimous decision.

Boxing Pick: Shakur Stevenson

Edwin Rodriguez +290 vs Floyd Diaz -476

American Floyd Diaz has a nice 8-0 record with 3 knockout victories. Diaz hopes to push the record to 9 when he throws down against veteran Edwin Rodriguez on Saturday.

Marco Castro -5000 vs Kevin Montiel +808

Massive underdog Kevin Montiel is 6-1-2 with 3 knockout wins. The dog heads into this after having fought most of his bouts in his native Mexico.

Marco Castro has a 7-0 record with 5 knockout wins. Castro is one of the up and coming super featherweight boxers. He will continue to shine versus fighters like Montiel until building a nice enough record to take on a top ranked boxer. Look for a knockout prop before accepting the -5000.

Boxing Pick: Marco Castro

Diego Pacheco -5000 vs Enrique Collazo +808

Enrique Collazo has a nice 16-2-1 record. Collazo has knocked out 11 of his opponents. He also has yet to suffer a knockout loss.

Huge chalk Diego Pacheco is 15-0. Pacheco has won 12 of his fights via knockout or technical knockout. There are a couple of ways to go here. We can decide Pacheco is a paper tiger and back the underdog. Or we can decide the dog suffers the first knockout loss of his career.

The second option sounds best. Look for a knockout prop on Diego Pacheco to end Enrique Collazo’s night early.

Boxing Pick: Diego Pacheco

Austin Williams -769 vs Kieron Conway +381

Kieron Conway has suffered just 2 losses during his career. The underdog in this has 18 wins and a draw to go along with the 2 losses.

Austin Williams is 11-0 with 9 knockout wins. Williams fought 17-0 Chordale Booker on April 30 this year. Williams beat Booker via first round technical knockout.

Conway is a good boxer. But he has zero power. Williams wins this via TKO or KO. So if you see a decent knockout prop, go for it.

Boxing Pick: Austin Williams

Ali Akhmedov -769 vs Gabriel Rosado +388

At one time during his career, Gabriel Rosado was one of the most feared super middleweights in the division. But since 2020, Rosado hasn’t fought well.

Gabriel has lost 3 of his last 4. Akhmedov is 18-1 with 14 knockout wins. This sets up as Rosado’s final bout. Ali should knockout the veteran warrior.

Boxing Pick: Ali Akhmedov

Jesse Rodriguez -2500 vs Israel Gonzalez +699 | WBC Junior Bantamweight Title

On paper, Israel Gonzalez has a shot. Gonzalez is 28-4-1 with 11 knockout wins. Also, Israel hails from Mexico and fighters from Mexico with the record Gonzalez has are no joke.

But on Saturday night, the underdog faces one of the top super flyweights in the world. Jesse Rodriguez is 16-0 with 11 knockout wins. This past June, Jesse stopped veteran Thai boxer Wisaksil Wangek in the eighth.

The champ wins for sure. Gonzalez has suffered a knockout loss. A KO prop bet backing Jesse to end Israel’s evening before round 12 makes sense.

Boxing Pick: Jesse Rodriguez

Abraham Nova versus Adam Lopez projects as one of this weekend’s most competitive matches. Nova last fought in June 2022. Abraham lost the bout but it was against well-regarded Robeisy Ramirez.

But although Shaw is undefeated, he’s a 3-year-old veteran up against a 28-year-old boxer with a single loss. Efe Ajagba lost to Frank Sanchez in 2021.

Check out analysis and a free Boxing Betting pick for Yarde versus Beterbiev as well as four other of Saturday’s top boxing matches.

Canelo Vs GGG III Odds Analysis, Betting Preview, and Picks

Previous Betting News

One of the year’s most anticipated bouts takes place on Saturday night when for the third time rivals Gennadiy “GGG” Golovkin throws down against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. Canelo won the last bout via majority decision. Will Gennadiy exact his revenge? Or will Alvarez prove once and for all he’s the better boxer? Check out info, analysis, and a free Boxing Betting pick for Canelo versus GGG.

Boxing Lines for Canelo vs GGG III – The Trilogy

Unified Super Middleweight Championship: Canelo Alvarez vs Gennadiy Golovkin

When: Saturday, Sep. 17
Where: T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, NV
TV / Streaming: DAZN PPV
Money Line Odds: Alvarez -555 / Golovkin +312
Total Rounds: O 10.5 -227 / Under 10.5 +152

Why back Canelo Alvarez to beat Gennadiy Golovkin?

Saul Canelo Alvarez 57-2-2 with 39 KO wins

Since the 2018 majority decision victory over Golovkin, Alvarez has fought eight times. Canelo won 7-of-8, dusting opponents Rocky Fielding, Daniel Jacobs, Sergey Kovalev, Callum Smith, Avni Yildirim, Billy Joe Saunders, and Caleb Plant. Canelo’s lone loss happened to one of the top two best light heavyweights in the world, Dmitrii Bivol. Bivol is taller, longer, and has an unbelievable jab. Alvarez got beat because he was going up in weight and fought one of the division’s best.

Canelo Alvarez Last 5 Bouts

L – UD R12 vs. Dmitrii Bivol
W – TKO R11 vs. Caleb Plant
W – TKO R8 vs. Billy Joe Saunders
W – TKO R3 vs. Avni Yildirim
W – UD R12 vs. Callum Smith

Why back Gennadiy Golovkin to beat Canelo Alvarez?

Gennadiy Golovkin 42-1-1 with 37 KO wins

Drive means a lot in boxing and no fighter has more drive than Gennadiy Golovkin. GGG has waited years for this fight. While Alvarez has moved up in weight class to light heavyweight to take on guys like Smith and Bivol, Golovkin has fought four times to prepare for a rematch against Canelo. Beating Alvarez drives Gennadiy. So although he’s now 40, Golovkin has a shot because he’s got the experience and the heart to get it done.

Gennadiy Golovkin Last 5 Bouts

W – TKO R9 vs. Ryota Murata
W – TKO R7 vs. Kamil Szeremeta
W – UD R12 vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko
W – KO R12 vs. Steve Rolls
L – MD R12 vs. Canelo Alvarez

Final Betting Analysis: Saul Canelo Alvarez vs Gennadiy Golovkin

The second bout paints a bad picture for Golovkin. Gennadiy threw 6 body punches in the second fight. There’s no way to beat a fighter of Canelo Alvarez’s abilities if you can’t slow him down.

Golovkin must throw many more body punches in the third bout but throwing to the body is where Gennadiy could get into trouble. Canelo is a master at stepping back, setting his feet, and unleashing power punches.

So every time Gennadiy moves to the body, Alvarez will step back and make Gennadiy pay. Also, Canelo has a half an inch reach advantage. It doesn’t sound like a lot and for most boxers it would be meaningless.

But for Alvarez it’s a big deal. Golovkin may try to stay to the outside and use his jab. GGG has one of the best jabs in boxing. It’s more like a straight power punch than a traditional jab.

Canelo’s half an inch reach advantage, though, means Gennadiy must get half an inch closer than he’d probably like, which means Canelo can sidestep the jab or remain a half an inch away from GGG’s jab and land punches.

The most disturbing aspect of Gennadiy’s game at his age is his defense. Ryota Murata, who isn’t close to Canelo’s skill level, landed punches because Golovkin’s defense nowadays is to put his hands up and block punches. GGG doesn’t counter nearly as effectively as he used to.

Finding a nice payoff in this bout is tough. The best course of action is to play a parlay. Saul Alvarez wins to over 10.5 rounds. Golovkin has a terrific chin and still has power, which means Canelo won’t go for the knockout unless he thinks it will be easy to accomplish.

Boxing Pick: Parlay – Alvarez to win & Over 10.5 rounds

Undefeated Guido Vianello takes on Jonathan Rice on Saturday night in what should be an excellent bout. Vianello versus Rice is one of Saturday’s headline fights on a day when YouTube boxer Olajide Olatunji also throws down. Check out Boxing Lines, analysis, and free picks for five bouts taking place on Saturday, Jan. 14.

Top Boxing Events

When: Saturday, Jan. 14

Rocha was supposed to fight Anthony Young, but Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De La Hoya’s boxing outfit, replaced Young with George Ashie. Once oddsmakers change the line, Alexis Rocha might be more than a -5000 favorite.

Boxing Events

When: Saturday, Sep. 10

Marten Arsumajan -625 vs Bjoern Schicke +335

Underdog Bjoern Schicke is 19-1-1 with 10 knockout wins. Schicke hasn’t lost since 2020 when, yep, Marten Arsumajan forced a referee technical decision.

The dog hopes he can exact revenge over his rival. Marten Arsumajan has 6 wins and a draw since the first bout. Arsumajan should be the chalk. But both these guys are German fighters who have fought mostly in Germany. So Arsumajan isn’t much better than Schicke. Maybe, Schicke has gotten better since the 2020 contest.

Boxing Pick: Bjoern Schicke

Chico Kwasi +170 vs Rostam Ibrahim -256

Dutch fighter Chico Kwasi will enter the ring with a 5-1-1 record. Rostam Ibrahim, the favorite in this, has a 9-0-2 record.

Not only does Ibrahim have a better record, but he has also knocked out 6 of his opponents. Kwasi has knocked out 2 of his opponents. More power and what looks like a better chin, Kwasi lost his bout via knockout, means the chalk takes this.

Boxing Pick: Rostam Ibrahim

Erica Alvarez +721 vs April Hunter -3333 | London – EPN+

5-1 April Hunter, the massive chalk in this match, hasn’t won a single bout via TKO or KO. The loss didn’t happen via knockout, either. So at least April has that going for her.

Erica Alvarez has a sad 3-6 record. Alvarez will fight hard, but she doesn’t have the skills to hang with Hunter. Will April get the first knockout of her career on Saturday? She might. So if you can find a KO prop, it might be worth a look.

Boxing Pick: April Hunter

Alycia Baumgardner +191 vs. Mikaela Mayer -294 | WBO & IBF & WBC Junior Lightweight Titles

Mayer is a fantastic boxer. Mikaela is undefeated with an excellent 17-0 record. The American has knocked out 5 of her opponents.

Mayer is for sure legit and should win this bout. Alycia Baumgardner has a 12-1 record. Baumgardner’s only loss happened back in 2018. Not only that, but it looks like Alycia has more power because she’s knocked out 7 of her opponents. Baumgarnder shouldn’t offer such high odds. Backing the overlay underdog makes sense.

Boxing Pick: Alycia Baumgardner

Savannah Marshall -123 vs Claressa Shields -114 | WBC & IBF & WBA & WBO Middleweight Titles

Claressa Shields opened the slight favorite. But the closer we get to the fight, the more boxing handicappers are siding with Marshall.

Both Marshall and Shields have the same exact 12-0 records. The difference between their records is that Marshall has knocked out 10 of her opponents while Shields has knocked out just 2 of her opponents.

Savannah has more power. Shields might be the better boxer, but she’s not that much better. Marshall gets the win.

Boxing Pick: Savannah Marshall

Boxing Events

When: Saturday, September 3 – Sunday, September 4

Hector Flores -222 vs Sivenathi Nontshinga +151

Saturday, September 3
Hermosillo, Mexico – DAZN
IBF Flyweight Title

Nontshinga has an excellent record. The underdog in this bout is 10-0. He’s won 4 bouts via knockout and 5 via technical knockout.

On Saturday, Nontshinga faces a more experienced opponent. Hector Flores is 20-0 with 10 KO or TKO wins. Nontshinga has built his record by fighting in his native South Africa.

Flores built his record fighting in Mexico. Hector has an edge because this happens in front of his people. The chalk is the play.

Boxing Pick: Hector Flores

Argi Cortes +613 vs Juan Francisco Estrada -2000

Saturday, September 3
WBC Junior Bantamweight Title

Cortes has a great 23-2-2 record. But the record shouldn’t fool us when it comes to this bout. Although Cortes is a quality fighter, he doesn’t have much shot versus one of the very best flyweights in the business.

Juan Francisco Estrada’s last bout was against the great Roman Gonzalez. Not only did Estrada fight Gonzalez, but he beat him via split decision. Estrada is 42-3.

So the favorite has much more experience than Cortes. Look for a prop bet before backing Estrada on the moneyline.

Boxing Pick: Juan Francisco Estrada

Abner Mares -250 vs Miguel Flores +168

Sunday, September 4
Los Angeles, California – Fox PPV

It’s interesting that Mares offers underlay odds. Abner hasn’t fought since 2018. The last time he did, Leo Santa Cruz beat him.

Miguel Flores fought in June 2021, beating an overmatched opponent. Maybe, the reason Mares is such a big favorite is because Miguel struggled against a 15-17 boxer in his last. But Flores should be much better against Mares.

The bottom line is that we can’t trust either one of these guys. In that case, laying the -250 on Abner makes no sense. Flores gets the nod.

Boxing Pick: Miguel Flores

Kevin Salgado Zambrano +329 vs Joey Spencer -588

For sure, Joey Spencer deserves to be the chalk in this fight. Spencer has a 15-0 record and has won 10 of his bouts via KO or TKO. But although Spencer deserves favoritism, the odds don’t justify a bet.

Kevin Salgado Zambrano has almost the same exact record. The underdog is 14-0-1. Spencer should win this. But at the odds, Joey is an underlay. So we must consider backing Zambrano.

Boxing Pick: Kevin Salgado Zambrano

Eduardo Ramirez +421 vs Isaac Cruz -909

Ramirez is on a 5-match winning streak. The underdog beat then 17-1 Luis Melendez via 10-round majority decision in his last.

No doubt, the dog will make favored Cruz work for the win. The chalk is 23-2-1 with 16 knockout or technical knockout victories. Cruz has fought guys like Gervonta Davis and Yuriorkis Gamboa.

In his last, the chalk blasted Gamboa, winning via TKO in the fifth. Cruz is the much better fighter. Look for a prop bet before backing Isaac at -909.

Boxing Pick: Isaac Cruz

Andy Ruiz -454 vs Luis Ortiz +266

The odds imply Ruiz easily wins this bout. When was the last time Andy won a bout easily? The victory over Anthony Joshua happened because Ruiz is a much more sound boxer.

Andy lost the rematch to Joshua. Beating Chris Arreola doesn’t impress much. Not only that, but Ruiz required 12 rounds to get the victory.

Ortiz is 33-2 with 28 knockout wins. He beat Alexander Flores last November and then bested Charles Martin this past January. Sure, King Kong is older than Ruiz, but is he really a +266 underdog? The odds make Luis an overlay.

Boxing Pick: Luis Ortiz

Undefeated Guido Vianello takes on Jonathan Rice on Saturday night in what should be an excellent bout. Vianello versus Rice is one of Saturday’s headline fights on a day when YouTube boxer Olajide Olatunji also throws down. Check out Boxing Lines, analysis, and free picks for five bouts taking place on Saturday, Jan. 14.

Davis Takes on Luis Garcia in Saturday’s Top Bout | Boxing Odds to Bet On the Weekend

Top Boxing Events

When: Saturday, Jan. 14

Check out analysis and a free Boxing Betting pick for Yarde versus Beterbiev as well as four other of Saturday’s top boxing matches.

Beterbiev Defends His Three Belts Versus Yarde for Saturday’s Top Bout | Boxing Betting Analysis

Boxing Events

Boxing Fury vs Wilder III Betting Update: Keys for Victory and Undercard Set

Previous Betting News

On Saturday, October 9, Deontay Wilder and WBC Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury will dance for the third time. The first fight ended in a draw while in the second fight, Fury easily handled Wilder. Check out current Boxing odds on MyBookie, the keys to victory as well as information on the undercard bouts.

Updated Boxing Betting Analysis for Fury vs Wilder 3

WBC Heavyweight Title Fight: Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder III

When: Saturday, Oct. 9
Where: T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, NV

Tyson Fury -310 vs. Deontay Wilder +250

Fury keys to victory

Fury must do what he did in the second fight, which is outbox Deontay. Tyson displayed much better boxing skills.

Not only that, but he also showed he’s the better defensive fighter. Fury provides excellent head movement without crossing his feet or changing his base. So when Deontay comes in throwing jabs, Fury has the ability to duck and then deliver blows to Wilder’s midsection.

Few heavyweights in history can move the way Fury does. As long as he is light on his feet, he should have no trouble circling Deontay with the left jab, should he choose, or moving to his right and countering off Wilder’s left.

Wilder keys to victory

Deontay cannot fight backwards. He hasn’t developed the skills to do so, which means if he hopes to turn the tables on Fury, he must be the aggressor.

In the second fight, Wilder tried to outbox Fury. That’s not going to happen. There isn’t a heavyweight in the world who can outbox Fury.

It’s also not as easy to say that Wilder will target Tyson’s midsection. Boxing matches don’t play where you can come up with a specific strategy.

What Deontay must do is punch off his line, meaning he must throw across his base. What this means is that when he throws his right jab, his head goes to the right. When he throws his left jab, his head goes to the left.

If Deontay can do that, and then move both his feet without crossing himself up, he will be much more competitive than he was in the second bout.

Fury vs. Wilder III Undercard is set

All though all eyes will be on Tyson Fury against Deontay Wilder, from a boxing handicapping point-of-view, the undercard bouts could be more interesting. Fury is a -290 chalk. By fight time, he could be a much lower favorite.

The odds on the undercard bouts suggest more competitive fights. Odds aren’t available for Jared Anderson versus Vladimir Tereshkin.

Odds are set for the other two bouts on the main card.

Adam Kownacki -300 vs. Robert Helenius +240

Efe Ajagba +140 vs. Frank Sanchez -170

Next week, we’ll go more in depth into Wilder versus Fury and make picks for the other fights on the card. In the meantime, keep an eye out for our boxing blog.

Although no big names are fighting on Saturday, Oct. 2, a couple of great boxers are in action. Chris Eubanks steps into the ring versus Anatoli Muratov and Miguel Vasquez throws down against Oliver Flores.

Both are worth checking out. Until then, good luck with your picks.

Top Boxing Matches to Bet On The Weekend: Joshua Against Usyk Highlights Saturday Action

Previous Betting News

On Saturday night, WBA, IBF, and WBO champion Anthony Joshua puts his belts on the line versus Oleksander Usyk in a huge heavyweight battle. Usyk is only a slight underdog, which means oddsmakers and boxing handicappers believe he has a shot against Joshua. Does he? Or will the reigning champ end Usyk’s title dreams? Check out Boxing odds and more information for that bout as well as other great boxing matches happening on Sep. 25.

Top Boxing Matches to Bet On The Weekend | September 24th Edition

Campbell Hatton -2500 vs Izan Dura +950

When: Saturday, Sep. 25

20-year-old Campbell Hatton looks to build upon his 3-0 record. Campbell is the son of former champion Ricky Hatton, which means he’ll show up to the ring ready to brawl. But although Hatton is undefeated, he has yet to knockout an opponent. Izan Dura is 3-7 and has won a single fight in his last 5. Hatton will outclass Dura from beginning to end.

Boxing Pick: Campbell Hatton

Florian Marku -600 vs Maxim Prodan +400

When: Saturday, Sep. 25

Marku versus Prodan should be one of this weekend’s more interesting bouts. Marku is 8-0-1 with 6 knockouts. Prodan has a 19-0-1 record with 15 knockout wins. The odds difference implies Marku easily wins. Guess what? The chalk should. Marku has fought much better opponents and has more power. Look for knockout round props if you don’t want to lay the -600.

Boxing Pick: Florian Marku

Callum Smith -3500 vs Lenin Castillo +1200

When: Saturday, Sep. 25

Smith is a massive favorite because he hung with Canelo for 12 rounds in his last fight. But Castillo versus Smith is a much closer fight than the odds indicate. Smith has trouble using his distance. In fact, he rarely does, preferring to brawl with smaller opponents. In 2019, Castillo went 12 rounds with Dimitry Bivol.

Not only that, but Castillo is well-trained. More importantly, Smith’s defense involves showing no angles and stepping backwards with his gloves pressed against his head. The underdog shouldn’t win this fight, but there’s no way we can back Smith at -3500 and the chances of Smith knocking out Castillo aren’t great. We’ll take a shot.

Boxing Pick: Lenin Castillo

Dilan Prasovic +1100 vs Lawrence Okolie -2230

When: Saturday, Sep. 25

Don’t let Prasovic’s 15-0 with 12 knockout victories fool you. He’s not a very well-trained boxer. He continually crosses his feet and tends to get lazy with his punches. On Saturday, Prasovic faces, without a doubt, the best opponent of his career. Lawrence Okolie is 16-0 with 13 knockout victories. The burgeoning boxing superstar will handle Prasovic no problem. Look for an early round KO.

Boxing Pick: Lawrence Okolie

WBA/IBF/WBO Heavyweight Title – Oleksander Usyk +220 vs. Anthony Joshua -170

Why bet on Usyk to beat Joshua?

When Oleksander Usyk, 18-0 with 13 knockout wins, fought in the cruiserweight division, he used to brawl. Why not when you’ve got the heaviest hands in the weight class?

As a heavyweight, Usyk has changed tactics. He’s more fluid, shows much more movement, and pays attention to defense more than when he was a cruiserweight. The movement could frustrate a boxer like Joshua who wants to use his jab and stay to the outside.

Also, money has landed on Usyk, which means boxing handicappers believe Joshua isn’t a lock to win this.

Why bet on Joshua to beat Usyk?

Since the loss to Andy Ruiz, the 24-1 champ has become a different boxer. He used his length much better in the rematch victory over Ruiz. Then in his last fight, versus Kubrat Pulev, Joshua used his jab to close the distance on his hesitant challenger, and peppered Pulev with combinations.

The champion was more aggressive versus Pulev than what we’ve seen in the past. If Joshua is aggressive versus Usyk, he should surprise the challenger.

Final Boxing Betting Odds Analysis

Joshua got the flashy victory over Pulev, but we shouldn’t read too much into it. Pulev is a 39-year-old stand up brawler who had neither the physical abilities nor movement to hang with Joshua.

The first time Joshua fought a boxer with real skills, he failed. Anthony Ruiz dominated Joshua in their first bout with movement and pinpoint punching.

Ruiz was overweight in the second fight, which is how Joshua won the decision. There’s no way Usyk heads into this bout unprepared.

Joshua will try to use the same tactics agianst Usyk that he used versus Pulev. But it won’t work. The champion tends to cross his feet and then square up to throw power punches when he’s close to his opponent.

Usyk should expose those two flaws, which means the cruiserweight turned heavyweight wins the title. The late money is right. Oleksander Usyk beats Anthony Joshua in Saturday’s top boxing match.

Boxing Prediction: Oleksander Usyk

The second fight ended with a Fury knockout victory. What will happen in the third fight? Check out rumors as well as an update on the match so you can keep planning your bets against the Boxing Lines.

To Win Odds: Deontay Wilder +210 / Tyson Fury -270
Over/Under Odds: O 7 ½ (-120) / U 7 ½ (+100)

Deontay brands the Gypsy King the biggest cheat in boxing

A recent story reads that Deontay Wilder declared Tyson Fury the biggest cheat in boxing. Video from a 2015 Fury bout against Christian Hammer shows the referee delayed the start of the bout because someone had cut the strap that attaches the thumb to the glove.

The belief is that Fury’s team had taken away the strap and removed padding. If Fury’s corner had done such a thing, it was going to hurt Fury more than Hammer.

Padding in a glove protects a boxer’s hands. They don’t help lessen blows to an opponent.

That’s why a fighter like Nayoa Inoue can break a rival’s ribs with a single blow even though he wears gloves with padding. Punch placement, punch speed, and how the boxer throws the punch, torque from the waist and tightening the legs and glutes, determines power.

A boxer that can’t punch won’t hurt an opponent with their bare fists. So let’s not go crazy about a missing thumb strap.

Wilder’s gameplan involves plenty shots to Tyson’s body

Wilder assistant trainer Don House said the plan on Oct. 9 is for Wilder to pound Fury’s belly. House declared the strategy the belly gameplan.

We wrote about this in last week’s boxing update. It’s worth again mentioning.

The strategy could backfire big time. Wilder should use his long reach to go to the belly and the head. Fury is a heavyweight that has footwork like a welterweight.

Asking Deontay to do something he’s never really done before, like become a body puncher, could play into Tyson’s hands. Fury will use movement to counter punch Deontay and Tyson could counter punch at will.

If House does tell Wilder to employ the belly gameplan, Tyson should have an easy lane to throw punches at Deontay’s head. It takes few small movements to get away from a straight ahead body puncher.

Also, let’s not kid ourselves. No way Deontay’s camp turned him into a heavyweight version of Julio Cesar Chavez.

Fury goes from a -190 favorite to a -270 chalk

When they first announced the bout, Tyson landed on MyBookie a -190 chalk. The closer we get to fight night, the more money seems to land on Fury.

The problem most boxing handicappers have is strategy wise, there’s not much Deontay can do. He’s always been a head hunting fighter. His power has saved the day more than once.

But in two fights, Fury has shown he can use head movement, body movement, and his feet to temper Deontay’s power shots.

Will Wilder backers start laying money on their man? Or will Tyson become an even bigger favorite as we approach the bout?

Stay tuned.

Bud Crawford ready to ditch Top Rank

In 2011, Terence Crawford signed a contract with Top Rank. Since then, he’s fought for Bob Arum and the big time promotional company. But Crawford has gotten knocked for not taking on the best of the best.

After Bud fights Shawn Porter, an upcoming bout on Nov. 20, Crawford can decide to fight whomever he wants. The Porter bout is his last with Top Rank.

If Crawford does bounce for bigger paydays, expect him to negotiate for two fights. First, Crawford must take on Errol Spence Jr., whom some believe is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

Spence Jr. ranks first in the welterweight division. Second, Crawford should fight 18-0 Vergel Ortiz Jr. Bouts with Danny Garcia and Mikey Garcia are other possibilities.

It’s time for the 37-0 Crawford to make his name. Boxing fans know who he is. Anybody who doesn’t follow boxing doesn’t. Taking on the best in the division is one way for Bud to build his brand.

Teofimo and Errol are likely moving up a weight class

Errol Spence Jr. said he might move up after his next fight. If Crawford does fight Spence, he also may have to move up to junior middleweight at 154 pounds.

Spence Jr. has nothing on the table, which means there’s a good likelihood his next bout could be at 154. Possible opponents for Spence at junior middlweight include Jermell Charlo, Erikson Lubin, and Brian Castano.

Lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez says he won’t give Vasiliy Lomachenko a rematch unless Loma wants to fight him at 147. Lopez has struggled to stay at lightweight, 135 pounds.

Teofimo wants to fight Josh Taylor, the 18-0 and undisputed junior welterweight champ. Lopez is moving up no matter what. His frame isn’t a lightweight frame, which is why he looked so much bigger than Lomachenko in their 2020 bout.

Lomachenko can’t move up to 140. Vasiliy looks small at 135. He should probably be fighting at around 122, the junior featherweight division.

Canelo has more options than any boxer in the sport

Canelo can do whatever he wants. He’s won fights from welterweight all the way to light heavyweight.

He has no trouble shedding pounds and because of his body frame and attention to detail, he keeps his speed and heavy hands while moving up in class. Alvarez has become one of the greatest of all time.

When you’re as good as Canelo, you call the shots. After dominating Caleb Plant on Nov. 6, Alvarez will move up to light heavyweight. He’ll fight one of the three top boxers in the division, Joseph Campbell, Dmitry Bivol, or Artur Beterbiev.

Wilder releases his strategy against Tyson

On Oct. 9, Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury dance for the third time.

Wilder and Fury know each other well. They know each other so well that Deontay had no trouble talking about the new strategy against Tyson.

Most of the time boxers won’t talk strategy until the fight. In this case, Wilder wants everyone, especially Tyson, to know he will be targeting Fury’s midsection.

Why would Deontay want Fury to know that? The challenger wants the champ to think. Tyson uses excellent footwork and head movement to keep his opponents off balance.

Deontay is likely thinking that if Fury must worry about his midsection, Wilder is known as a headhunter, Tyson have trouble moving his head as much. If Fury doesn’t expose his head or makes it hard for Deontay to target his head, Wilder will dip and pound Tyson’s body.

We mustn’t wait too long for Fury vs. Wilder III. No matter how much we’ve enjoyed watching exhibition bouts with the Paul brothers, it will be nice to finally see two of the best in the world go at it in the ring.

Top Boxing Matches to Bet On The Weekend: Holyfield Fills In For De La Hoya Versus Belfort

Previous Betting News

On Saturday night, a couple of MMA legends throw down in the boxing ring when Anderson Silva takes on Tito Ortiz. Also on Saturday, the man who beat Mike Tyson twice, Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield, fills in for COVID inflicted Oscar De La Hoya. Check out analysis, Boxing Lines and picks for a couple of under the radar boxing matches before turning our attention to the two biggest fights of the night.

Top Boxing Matches to Bet On The Weekend September 10th Edition

Andy Vences -105 vs Jono Carroll -125

When: Saturday, Sep. 11

30-year-old Andy Vences has a terrific 23-2-1 record with 12 knockout victories. On Saturday, he takes on tough Irish boxer Jono Carroll. The favorite has a 19-2-1 record with 5 knockouts. Vences has a shot if he can get his jab working. But Carroll is terrific at closing the space. Also, Vences tends to fight moving backward, which is never a good strategy versus a brawler like Carroll. The chalk looks tough to beat.

Boxing Pick: Jono Carroll

Joe Fournier +800 vs David Haye -1600

When: Saturday, Sep. 11

Haye heads into his exhibition type bout on a 2-match losing streak. Both losses happened agianst top cruiserweight Tony Bellew. Joe Fournier is 9-0, but he hasn’t come close to fighting someone as talented ad Bellew. Haye should dominate Fournier. But this is the favorite’s first bout since 2018. Who knows? Haye could be vulnerable and, so far at least, Fournier has shown he’s got a really good chin. We’re taking a shot.

Boxing Pick: Joe Fournier

Light Heavyweight: 8 Two-Minute Rounds – Evander Holyfield -115 / Vitor Belfort -105

When: Saturday, Sep. 11

Oscar De La Hoya tested positive for COVID, which ended his dream of returning to the ring versus Vitor Belfort. Instead of calling off the fight, promoters made a phone call to The Real Deal who not surprisingly jumped at the chance to make a decent pay day.

Both guys should bring very good boxing skills into the fight. Belfort looks like he knows what he’s doing. Forget the mitt work. Pay attention to Belfort’s feet.

He doesn’t cross his feet, but, then again, whenever he trained, he didn’t face someone trying to get him to cross his feet, which is why even though Evander is taking this on short notice, he’s the pick.

Holyfield hasn’t fought since 2011. But he’s one of those guys that’s always in shape, always in the gym, and always working.

Belfort is 1-0. Don’t expect Evander to have forgotten how to trip up an inexperienced fighter. Holyfield could get Vitor running around in circles on Saturday night. The Real Deal gets it done.

Boxing Pick: Evander Holyfield

Cruiserweight: 8 Two-Minute Rounds – Anderson Silva -845 / Tito Ortiz +595

When: Saturday, Sep. 11

Anderson Silva returns to the ring to battle fellow legendary mixed-martial-arts fighter Tito Ortiz. Will Silva make it two impressive boxing wins in a row? Check out the keys to the fight before our pick.

Silva’s keys to victory

Silva must display the movement he used in his victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Granted, Chavez Jr. never lived up to the hype, but Anderson did beat a professional boxer by using boxing skills. If Silva displays the same boxing skills on Saturday night, he should easily handle Ortiz.

Ortiz’s keys to victory

Ortiz has always had some boxing skills. But to beat Silva, he must do a couple of things. First, he must close the distance because we know Silva will use movement to stay away from Tito’s reach. Second, Ortiz must use his grappling and wrestling ability to put Anderson into positions where he can land punches. If Tito does those two things, he can win this fight.

Fight Analysis

Tito Ortiz isn’t a boxer. Based on his fight versus Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Anderson Silva is. If we think about it, Silva transitioning from MMA to boxing makes a ton of sense.

While dominating in the Octagon, Silva used a style based on a Brazilian dance called capoeira. During his MMA days, Silva displayed feet movement that would made more than one successful professional boxer envious.

All Anderson did was translate his already taught skills to the ring. Ortiz doesn’t move as well, and he flares his punches.

Also, unless someone taught him to change his stance, it’s too wide for boxing, Silva will have him crossing his feet all night. Anderson Silva wins.

Boxing Pick: Anderson Silva

Top Boxing Matches to Bet On The Weekend: Katie Taylor and Josh Warrington in Action

Previous Betting News

Two of the top boxers in England take to the ring on Saturday when Katie Taylor goes head-to-head agianst Jennifer Han in a championship bout and Josh “The Leeds Warrior” Warrington battles Mauricio Lara a slight -130 chalk. Also on Saturday, Adrian Granados takes on Conor Benn and Jovanni Straffon throws down against Maxi Hughes. Check out Boxing Betting odds, analysis, and free picks for Saturday’s top boxing matches.

Top Boxing Matches to Bet On The Weekend September 3rd Edition

Boxing Events on MyBookie

When: Saturday, Sep. 4
Where: Leeds, England
TV / Streaming: DAZN

Welterweights – 10 Rounds

Adrian Granados +700 / Conor Benn -1500

Granados hopes this is his comeback fights. The 32-year-old veteran is 21-8 with 3 draws. He’s knocked out 15 of his opponents but hasn’t won since 2018. In his last four fights, Granados shows a couple of losses, a win, and a draw.

Conor Benn is 18-0 with 12 knockout victories. The 24-year-old has big advantages over Granados. Benn should dominate, but he has a wider stance than required and throws off his front foot. Granados’ 2 losses in his last couple of fights were to Danny Garcia and Robert Easter. Only 1 of Granados’ 8 losses have happened via KO. The more experienced boxer could do just enough to pull off the massive upset.

Boxing Pick: Adrian Granados

Lightweights – 12 Rounds

Jovanni Straffon -125 / Maxi Hughes -105

For the second straight time, 27-year-old Mexican fighter Jovanni Straffon takes on a top UK boxer. Straffon fought in Mexico before his last, running up a 24-3-1 with 17 knockout victories record. His last loss happened in 2017. In May, Straffon knocked out James Tennyson in the first-round of a scheduled 12 round bout. Tennyson wanted to brawl with Straffon. That wasn’t a good idea.

Hughes has a decent record. But although Maxi shows 23 wins, only 5 have come via KO or TKO. Straffon’s punches explode and he doesn’t settle on hunting for the head. Also, Hughes has a tendency to get wild in the ring. Jovanni should easily win this.

Boxing Pick: Jovanni Straffon

Women’s Lightweight Title – 10 Rounds

Jennifer Han +900 / Katie Taylor -2500

Katie Taylor is undefeated but she hasn’t knocked out an opponent in her last 6 bouts. With that being written, Taylor is a ferocious boxer. She has a non-stop motor and goes right after her opponents.

But although Taylor should win this, Han is worth a look. She’s on an 8-match winning streak. Not only that, but Han has a chance to punish Taylor when the champ moves in and starts throwing her combinations. If Han stands her ground and counters effectively, she could surprise the 18-0 champ. Also, the challenger shows +900 overlay odds.

Boxing Pick: Jennifer Han

Featherweights – 12 Rounds

Josh Warrington -130 / Mauricio Lara +100

The main event on DAZN’s card pits the Leeds Warrior against Mauricio Lara. Josh Warrington is 30-1 with 7 knockout victories. These two fought in February with Lara knocking out Warrington in the ninth.

23-2 with 16 knockout wins, Lara showed in the first fight why boxers from Mexico often have the upper hand over English boxers. While at no time during the bout did Lara throw a punch without first establishing his feet, Warrington was all over the place. Josh’s tendency to throw punches off balance is one of the reasons he’s only got 7 knockout wins from 30 fights.

There’s nothing in the last bout to imply Warrington wins this. Lara should counter effectively and, eventually, get to Warrington. Josh’s lack of power seriously hampers his chances of gaining revenge. Mauricio takes the rematch.

Boxing Pick: Mauricio Lara

Mark Heffron vs Jack Cullen

Boxing Odds: Mark Heffron -434; Jack Cullen +279
Light Heavyweight Bout
Heffron record: 29-2-1 | 23 KOs
Cullen record: 21-4-1 | 9 KOs
AO Arena, Manchester, England
