Ranking All College Football Teams

We expect the 2024 college football season to be one of the best ever.

This is the first season that the college football playoff will have 12 teams in it.

Then, we will see how the postseason plays out, as we crown a national champion.

We are closing in on the start of the season, and today, we wanted to discuss the rankings of the top 133 teams in College Football.

Up next will be 31-45!

Writer’s Rankings for the NCAAF Teams

1. Georgia Bulldogs

Kirby Smart and his Bulldogs won back to back titles, then missed out on the chance last season.

With a single loss, this season the Bulldogs would not be left out.

This is the most talented team on both sides of the ball.

They will get a big time test right out of the gate, as they take on Clemson on August 31st.

Check Georgia odds for the next game.

2. Oregon Ducks

Dan Lanning has his Ducks back and ready to compete for a title.

There may not be a program in the country with more urgency and excitement to grab a national title than Oregon.

The Ducks will get their first run at the Big Ten conference when the season starts.

Oregon battles Idaho on August 31st.

Check Oregon odds for the next game.

3. Ohio State Buckeyes

The Buckeyes are looking to get over the hump of their top rival the Michigan Wolverines.

Ryan Day has some big time pressure on him this season.

Beating Michigan would go a long way towards their chances to get to the college football playoff, but many other tests.

Ohio State hosts Akron on August 31st.

Check Ohio State odds for the next game.

4. Alabama Crimson Tide

There is a new sheriff in town.

Nick Saban is gone, and former Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer is the head coach.

DeBoer has some new players on the roster, and will bring his upbeat style to Tuscaloosa.

The Crimson Tide have a tough schedule, but will start with a home game against Western Kentucky.

Check Alabama odds for the next game.

5. Ole Miss Rebels

Lane Kiffin and his Rebels know they have the offensive firepower to get the job done.

Out of the SEC though, can the Rebels play defense enough to contend for a title? This is going to be a loaded team, but also some big time competition.

The Rebels start at home on August 31st against Furman.

Check Ole Miss odds for the next game.

6. Texas Longhorns

Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns made a major move over the off-season.

The Longhorns are now a member of the SEC.

That is a big time move for the Longhorns, but their talent will be right up to task with the rest of their opponents.

The Longhorns will host Colorado State on August 31st.

Check Texas odds for the next game.

7. Missouri Tigers

Another SEC squad.

Many overlook this Missouri team, but they have a legitimate chance to get to the college football playoff.

There is likely going to be three teams from the SEC in the playoff, and Missouri is going to be in the mix.

This is a great offensive team.

Can they play defense well enough to compete? MIssouri hosts Murray State on August 29th.

Check Missouri odds for the next game.

8. Penn State Nittany Lions

James Franklin has another team that is going to be tough to score against.

Penn State was not great on the offensive side last season, but did plenty of work and added plenty of help in the off-season.

Penn State is third in the pecking order of the Big Ten, with Oregon and Ohio State setting the table.

The Nittany Lions open up their season on the road at West Virginia on August 31st.

Check Penn State odds for the next game.

9. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

One of the historic favorites, the Irish will see themselves going through another gauntlet of a schedule.

Can the Irish breakthrough as one of the elite in college football this season? Notre Dame goes right out of the gate with a road trip to College Station to take on the Aggies of Texas A+M.

Check SYSNotre DameTSTST odds for the next game.

10. Florida State Seminoles

The Seminoles are going to have a big time chip on their shoulder following their exclusion from the college football playoff last season.

The Seminoles have the ability to pass it, throw it, and will always be able to defend.

The Seminoles look to grab another Atlantic Coast Conference title this season.

Florida State is at Georgia Tech on August 24th to start the season.

Check Florida State odds for the next game.

11. Michigan Wolverines

The Wolverines certainly are going to be talented, but in the end, this team lost too much to really be a true national title contender.

A new coach, a new quarterback, a new look for the Maize and Blue.

Michigan will see some things even out a little this season.

The Wolverines start the season on August 31st at home against Fresno State.

Check Michigan odds for the next game.

12. LSU Tigers

Brian Kelly has another team ready to compete in the SEC.

The Tigers are going to need to be better on the defensive end.

LSU also has question marks with a new quarterback.

The Tigers are not afraid of competition, as they will play the first Sunday of the season, as they take on USC on September 1st.

Check LSU odds for the next game.

13. Tennessee Volunteers

We like the Big Orange.

But, how many SEC teams is too many? Not every team can make the college football playoff.

These teams are eventually going to cutthroat each other.

Can the Volunteers be one of the teams to make it through have a chance? They will start with a state rival in Chattanooga on August 31st.

Check Tennessee odds for the next game.

14. Utah Utes

The Utes are in a little different boat.

Maybe the Utes should be ranked higher than 14th.

Utah is one of the favorites to win their new conference – the Big 12.

They get started a little earlier than some of the other teams.

Utah will host Southern Utah on August 29th.

Check Utah odds for the next game.

15. Clemson Tigers

Dabo Swinney and his Tigers are looking to make their way back to one of the elite programs in the country.

The Tigers have got to be better and more efficient offensively.

Clemson will face a tough test right out of the shoot.

The Tigers are on the road at Georgia for a big time opportunity right away.

Check Clemson odds for the next game.

16. Kansas State Wildcats

The Wildcats, out of the Big 12 are one of the favorites to win the league.

The Wildcats will no longer have to deal with Oklahoma and or Texas.

The biggest threat for them in the league may be the state rivals, Kansas Jayhawks.

Kansas State is just one of those teams that does things right on both sides of the ball.

The Wildcats get UT Martin on August 31st at home.

Check Kansas State odds for the next game.

17. Kansas Jayhawks

We love the Jayhawks this season.

A veteran team, a well coached team, and a squad that has a fairly soft schedule.

This is definitely a Big 12 threat in 2024.

They will be able to pass the football, and the defense is bound to be better this season.

Kansas will start against Lindenwood on August 29th in Kansas City.

Check Kansas odds for the next game.

18. Oklahoma State Cowboys

A third straight Big 12 squad.

The big 12 is going to be a different animal this season, but still should be extremely talented.

We know Oklahoma State is going to be able to run the football.

Can they pass the football well enough to win the conference title or at least be a threat for the College Football playoff in 2024?

The Cowboys have South Dakota State on August 31st.

Check Oklahoma State odds for the next game.

19. USC Trojans

Lincoln Riley has all the confidence that his team is going to be ready for Big Ten Football.

The Trojans hit a wall last season and fell flat late in the season.

That was with Caleb Williams under center as their quarterback.

The Trojans were one of the worst teams in the country defensively a season ago.

They got some work to do if they are going to be a Big Ten contender in 2024.

Check USC odds for the next game.

20. Miami Hurricanes

Miami is going to be a team that can contender in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Outside of Florida State and Clemson, who is really going to be a threat?

The Hurricanes would love to get the national presence of the program, but it seems they keep tripping up season after season whether it is with a lack of offense or just a poor game in the middle of the season.

Check Miami odds for the next game.

21. Oklahoma Sooners

The Sooners will use Jackson Arnold under center for their first season as members of the SEC.

Oklahoma will find out if they have what it takes to go day in and day out with the big boys.

The Sooners start their 2024 season at home against the Temple Owls on August 30th.

Check Oklahoma odds for the next game.

22. Texas A+M Aggies

It will be the first season for Mike Elko as the head coach of the Texas A+M Aggies.

Elko showed signs of life at Duke.

but the Aggies job is a different animal.

The school spent more than $75 to let go of Jimbo Fisher, so the expectations will be high from the start.

The Aggies open the 2024 season with a big time test.

They will take on Notre Dame on August 31st.

Check Texas A&M odds for the next game.

23. Arizona Wildcats

Another team on the move.

The Arizona Wildcats were one of the most impressive teams late in the season last year.

Can they take that momentum into the Big Ten in 2024?

Arizona had a nice passing attack, and their defense got better throughout the season.

This is going to be a fun team to watch in 2024.

They will start on August 31st at home against New Mexico.

Check Arizona odds for the next game.

24. Iowa State Cyclones

Matt Campbell is now the second longest tenured coach in the Big 12.

He is just the second coach in school history to coach 100 games at Iowa State.

He has been with the program since 2016. Stability has been key for the Cyclones.

Iowa State will be a tough team to beat in the Big 12 this season.

The Cyclones get North Dakota to start the season on August 31st.

Check Iowa State odds for the next game.

25. Iowa Hawkeyes

Kirk Ferentz expects Cade McNamara to be the starting quarterback from Day 1.

The Hawkeyes must be better offensively.

They went to the Big Ten title game last season, but without a much improved offensive that is not going to happen in an even deeper league.

The 24 year old is going to have a ton of pressure on him from the start in Iowa City.

The Hawkeyes host Illinois State on August 31st.

Check Iowa odds for the next game.

26. Nebraska Cornhuskers

The Cornhuskers are going to be a sneaky team out of the Big Ten.

This team has a fairly soft conference schedule, and will be talented.

The Cornhuskers are looking forward to what Matt Rhule can do in his second season in Lincoln.

They will open on August 31st against UTEP.

Check Nebraska odds for the next game.

27. North Carolina State Wolf Pack

Having three teams in a row from the same conference goes to show how much people are unsure of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Dave Doeren has been with the Wolf Pack since 2013, an impressive feat. During that time, he is 104-62.

The Wolf Pack host Western Carolina on August 29th.

Check NC State odds for the next game.

28. Louisville Cardinals

Can the Jeff Brohm train continue in Louisville?

After a big season at Purdue, he left for Louisville.

His first season was a success, and he looks to build on that in 2024.

The Cardinals may have a quarterback competition with 7th year Tyler Shough leading the way out of the gate.

Louisville gets Austin Peay in their opener on August 31st.

Check Louisville odds for the next game.

29. Virginia Tech Hokies

Brent Pry has been the head coach of the Hokies since the 2022 season.

His third season is going to be a big one.

There is starting to be so much pressure on Pry to get the Hokies back in the mix.

His previous experience was the defensive coordinator at Penn State.

Virginia Tech gets a trip to Vanderbilt to start their 2024 season.

Check Virginia Tech odds for the next game.

30. Boise State Broncos

There is some excitement for the 35 year old football coach at Boise State.

Spencer Danielson started as a graduate assistant back in 2017.

He took over late in the season last year, and went 3-1.

He was named the head coach in December.

It will be fun to follow his first full season with the program.

Check Boise State odds for the next game.

31. West Virginia Mountaineers

The Mountaineers do not mind their spot being just outside the Top 30, but also in striking distance of the Top 25.

The Big 12 is going to be open! If Utah cannot seal the deal, there are going to be chances to win games.

West Virginia could be one of those to take advantage.

Tough test right away for West Virginia as they take on Penn State in Week 1.

Check West Virginia odds for the next game.

32. Wisconsin Badgers

The Big Ten’s Badgers still have plenty of question marks on the offensive side.

This team continues to be a nice defensive team, but when push comes to shove, can they score enough? The Badgers will take on Western Michigan August 30th.

Check Wisconsin Badgers odds for the next game.

33. Nebraska Cornhuskers

Matt Rhule and the Cornhuskers have massive expectations for the season.

Nebraska feels they can get off to a hot start, and be in the national title picture.

Pump the brakes a little, but this will be an interesting team to follow.

The Cornhuskers have UTEP in Week 1.

Check Nebraska Cornhuskers odds for the next game.

34. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Gone are the high flying passing offense of the Red Raiders.

But, what this team can do is still find ways to win games.

Another team out of the Big 12 with some identity questions.

Texas Tech will host Abilene Christian on August 31st.

Check Texas Tech Red Raiders odds for the next game.

35. TCU Horned Frogs

The Horned Frogs are just a season removed from playing in the College Football playoff.

Gone are many of those players, but a new batch of athletes are going to be tricky to slow down.

The Horned Frogs will start the season on the road at the Stanford Cardinal.

Check TCU Horned Frogs odds for the next game.

36. North Carolina Tar Heels

The Tar Heels play one of the more interesting Week 1 affairs.

North Carolina will go on the road to Minnesota and play a big game for both teams.

Two power conference teams in the middle of the pack meet up before September arrives.

Check North Carolina Tar Heels odds for the next game.

37. UCF Knights

The Knights are going to run up against a pretty talented schedule this season.

We do not envision any magic run from the folks in Orlando this season.

The Central Florida Knights should get off to a good start as they host New Hampshire to open the 2024 season.

Check UCF Knights odds for the next game.

38. Auburn Tigers

A SEC team barely holding inside the Top 40 is not acceptable for most following the program.

The Tigers have some big shoes to fill, as the coaching staff is looking to get this program back to one of the conference playoff contenders.

Auburn takes on Alabama A+M to start the season.

Check Auburn Tigers odds for the next game.

39. Florida Gators

The folks in Gainesville have been none too pleased with the performance of their Gators football the last several seasons.

With Florida State coming out red hot last season, and now the Hurricanes seemingly coming back to live, the Gators have a ton of pressure on them to build a winning culture.

The SEC is going to be a tough task for them again in 2024.

Florida will start the 2024 season against Miami on August 31st.

Check Florida Gators odds for the next game.

40. Kentucky Wildcats

Some identity issues with the Wildcats program.

They obviously would love to step into the role of a power and a threat to win the title out of the SEC each and every year.

It seems to be a one step forward, two steps back type of approach for the Wildcats so far.

Kentucky will open up the season on August 31st at home against Southern Miss.

Check Kentucky Wildcats odds for the next game.

41. Memphis Tigers

The Tigers seem to be going a little under the radar this season.

Memphis has a schedule they can manage.

They have an offense that can put up points, and do it in a hurry.

They can run the ball and toss the ball around the field.

This is going to be a dark horse team.

The Tigers start the season on August 31st against North Alabama.

Check Memphis Tigers odds for the next game.

42. Liberty Flames

The first of two teams from the SBC.

Liberty brought all sorts of offensive firepower to the field a season ago.

This is a team that is going to have some great players back on the field.

Liberty wants to show they are the best of the league and just keep winning games.

WIth 12 teams reaching the playoff, this is a team that could take advantage of it.

The Flames will start the season against Campbell on August 31st.

Check Liberty Flames odds for the next game.

43. Appalachian State Mountaineers

Another team that can get hot, stay hot, and make a run at the College Football Playoff.

The conference is underrated, and both the Mountaineers want to show that off first hand.

Appalachian State has had a history of playing competitive games for many years.

They will start the season against Eastern Tennessee State on August 31st.

Check Appalachian State Mountaineers odds for the next game.

44. Washington Huskies

The Huskies not only lost their head coach, and their starting quarterback, but much of the roster from a season ago.

Washington went to the national title game a season ago, so their newcomers into the lineup are likely still going to be talented players.

Washington will host Weber State on August 31st.

Check Washington Huskies odds for the next game.

45. Maryland Terrapins

Rounding out the Top 45 is a Big Ten program in the Maryland Terrapins.

Maryland seems to be around the 45 spot every year for the last several seasons.

The Terrapins will host UConn to start the season, in an effort to get off to a good start.

Check Maryland Terrapins odds for the next game.

46. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Interestingly enough, the Yellow Jackets were the first team to win a game in 2024.

They went to Ireland and beat the heavy favorite in Florida State.

That is a massive springboard type win.

Now they will take on Georgia State on August 31st in an effort to start the season 2-0.

Check Georgia Tech odds for the next game.

47. Duke Blue Devils

Duke, much like several of the other ACC teams we have discussed in the middle of the rankings also has a chance to compete.

If the top of the league is not going to be elite, it is going to be interesting how the middle of the league can compete.

Duke is one of those teams with strong fundamental play that could be there in the end.

Duke hosts Elon on August 30th.

Check James Madison odds for the next game.

48. Rutgers Scarlet Knights

The Scarlet Knights should get off to a quick start.

Rutgers will host Howard to start the season.

That is one of the games played on the first Thursday of the season.

Some new challenges await Rutgers in the Big Ten.

Check Rutgers odds for the next game.

49. UTSA Roadrunners

A strong, developing program.

The Roadrunners are going to be overlooked when they play non conference games against strong programs.

They open their season with a game they should win.

They will host Kennesaw State on August 31st.

Check UTSA odds for the next game.

50. UCLA Bruins

The DeShaun Foster era will get under way in Los Angeles.

A bunch of new changes as the UCLA Bruins are now members of the Big Ten.

Ethan Garbers will start the season as the signal caller.

The Bruins will open the 2024 season on the road at Hawaii.

Check UCLA odds for the next game.

51. Colorado Buffaloes

Coach Prime and the Buffaloes got a ton of love early last season after a quick start.

The noise is not quite as loud for the Buffaloes this season.

They have talent, but it is yet to be seen whether they have enough depth to be a true contender in college football.

They will face a tough test right away as they battle North Dakota State on Thursday.

Check Colorado odds for the next game.

52. Arkansas Razorbacks

This is a program that has fallen over the last few seasons, and has yet to bounce back.

Arkansas is still looking for that big time turnaround season.

Now sure the roster is ready for that to happen quite yet.

Arkansas will take on Pine Bluff to open up the 2024 season.

Check Arkansas odds for the next game.

53. Minnesota Golden Gophers

PJ Fleck continues to row the boat.

Many are starting to wonder if there is more bark than bite in the Golden Gophers.

Another season of Big Ten football where the expectations are right in the middle.

Minnesota will start the season with a great test.

They take on North Carolina on August 29th, and the winner will have a great quality win.

Check Minnesota odds for the next game.

54. California Golden Bears

Kind of in no man’s land.

California going to play games in the Atlantic Coast Conference is one of the more silly stories in college sports.

The Golden Bears are right in the middle of the rankings, therefore their fans and coaches are looking for an early season identity.

Check California odds for the next game.

55. South Carolina Gamecocks

Out of the SEC, the Gamecocks come into the rankings at 55th.

There are a few teams that they match with talent wise out of the SEC, but it’s going to be a tough go of it in many of their conference games.

South Carolina opens the 2024 season at home.

They will take on Old Dominion on August 31st.

Check South Carolina odds for the next game.

56. Fresno State Bulldogs

The Bulldogs are going to face quite a challenge to start the season.

They are on the road at the defending national champion Michigan Wolverines.

While Michigan is going to look different from a season ago, that’s quite the start.

That will be a good gauge on how the Bulldogs season could wind up.

Check Fresno State odds for the next game.

57. Northwestern Wildcats

The Wildcats have been kind of impressively moving their way up as they deal with the loss of their coach a season ago due to the hazing scandals.

Northwestern is going to be on the outside looking in for a bunch of Big Ten games, but smart play and fundamental game planning gives them a chance.

They host Miami Ohio on August 31st.

Check Northwestern odds for the next game.

58. Boston College Eagles

Out of the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Eagles are one of the teams looking to catch lightning in a bottle and strike while they can.

The ACC is down a bit, and with some solid play and ability to score well, a team could make a run.

Boston College would be a dark horse, but there is that chance.

The Eagles are at Florida State September 2nd.

Check Boston College odds for the next game.

59. Baylor Bears

The coaching staff at Baylor is in a break or break season.

If the Bears don’t start making progress back toward the top of the Big 12, you may see a new staff for the 2025 season.

Baylor will open their season with a very winnable game on August 31st against Tarleton State.

Check Baylor odds for the next game.

60. Illinois Fighting Illini

This is a program that has kind of been in no mans land for several seasons.

Brett Bielema has a big task on his hands, and now the Big Ten got even better.

The Fighting Illini should win their opener, as they get to host state rival Eastern Illinois on Thursday night.

Check Illinois odds for the next game.

61. Colorado Buffaloes

Coach Prime and his Buffaloes needed the entire game, but they came away with a win over North Dakota State.

Colorado has some elite playmakers on the offensive side, but still some issues on the offensive line, as well as the defense.

Colorado will play their Week 2 game on the road against rival Nebraska.

Check Colorado odds for the next game.

62. Oregon State Beavers

It was a fun start for the Beavers, after scoring 24 first half points, they cruised to a win over Idaho State.

One of the lone Pac-12 teams left, the Beavers are going to play an interesting schedule with Oregon coming up in Week 3.

First, the Beavers will go on the road and take on the San Diego State Aztecs on Saturday.

Check Oregon State odds for the next game.

63. Navy Midshipmen

Navy has started the season with an impressive 2-0 record and have jumped up our rankings list.

Blake Horvath leads the charge for Navy with 3 passing touchdowns and 3 rushing touchdowns on the young season.

Check Navy odds for the next game.

64. Michigan State Spartans

Michigan State was a Friday winner at home over Florida Atlantic.

It was not pretty, and it certainly did not go OVER.

But, the Spartans won and are 1-0 on the season.

Michigan State could run into offensive issues all season.

The next game for the Spartans is on the road at Maryland, as they start their Big 10 season.

Check Michigan State odds for the next game.

65. South Florida Bulls

Bethune Cookman was no match for the Bulls in Week one.

South Florida is going to have a nice offense, and if they can continue to play defense like that, they could be a team to watch out for in the AAC.

The problem is – South Florida’s next game is on the road at Alabama.

The Crimson Tide look to be a better team by miles.

Check South Florida odds for the next game.

66. Tulane Green Wave

The Green Wave won their season opener.

The goal is to get to six wins for the Green Wave and find a postseason game once again.

Check Tulane odds for the next game.

Check Washington State odds for the next game.

Check Syracuse odds for the next game.

71. Cincinnati Bearcats

The Bearcats out of the Big 12 beat up on Towson 38-20.

Check Cincinnati odds for the next game.

The Rebels will find out as they host Utah Tech in Week two.
