The NHL is almost at its postseason, with the Stanley Cup Playoffs a little more than a week away. For those just getting back into hockey going into the playoffs, we’ve got you covered with an update of how things stand as the regular season winds down.

In the Eastern Conference, the playoff picture is pretty well defined coming down the stretch, as the Boston Bruins have run away with the top seed. Aside from the potential for some slight seeding movement in this conference, the only real question left is which teams will occupy the two Wild Card slots. The Florida Panthers, New York Islanders, and Pittsburgh Penguins are all separated by a point, and one of those three teams will be left out of the postseason.

Out West, things are much more fluid, as there are six teams that could finish with the best record in the conference. The Central Division is especially interesting at this point, as all three teams enter Wednesday’s games tied at 98 points apiece. In the Wild Card race, the Winnipeg Jets are holding onto the final spot in the postseason, but the Calgary Flames and Nashville Predators are still aiming to catch them.

Updated Stanley Cup Championship Odds

Looking at the latest Stanley Cup title odds, there are just three teams in at under +1000 odds going into Wednesday’s games. The Boston Bruins are the favorites by a wide margin, sitting at +360 to lift the cup when all is said and done. Joining them at the top of the list of favorites are the Colorado Avalanche at +650 and the Carolina Hurricanes at +940, as the rest of the league will look to upset them.

Looking further down the list of Stanley Cup championship odds, there are some interesting teams at longer odds to get the job done. The New Jersey Devils have been incredible on the road this year, and could still be a decent value at +1125. The Edmonton Oilers are also intriguing, as they have one of the best players in the sport in Connor McDavid and are at +1300 to lift the Cup.

Stanley Cup Playoff Predictions

In terms of Stanley Cup Final predictions, it is hard to imagine any team taking out the Boston Bruins en route to the championship. They have been so far superior to any team in the league this season, and they could still set the record for the most wins and points accumulated in one season of NHL action. At a plus price, they still appear to be the best bet to win the title in 2023.

If we had to pick another team to win the Stanley Cup, the Oilers would be that team. They have the scoring touch you need to win tight games in the playoffs, and are at an appealing price relative to many of the other favorites.
