Senators vs Penguins NHL Hockey Odds & TV Info

The Ottawa Senators very rarely win in Pittsburgh and are big underdogs on the Mybookie NHL odds to do so on Tuesday even though the Penguins are in a bit of a funk right now. Let’s see how the NHL odds will be for the Senators vs Penguins.

Senators vs Penguins NHL Hockey Odds & TV Info

Senators vs Penguins Season Series

Pittsburgh leads 1-0, winning 5-2 on Dec. 30. Evgeni Malkin scored twice and teammate Jake Guentzel had a three-point night but left after scoring 6:55 into the third period. Guentzel hasn’t played since and is done for the season as he needed shoulder surgery. Patric Hornqvist and Dominik Simon also scored for the Penguins. Tristan Jarry stopped 24 shots. Nick Paul scored twice for the Senators, while Marcus Hogberg made 28 saves. The Senators have three wins in 22 games at Pittsburgh’s PPG Paints Arena since the building opened in 2010. Pittsburgh has eight straight wins and points in 11 consecutive home games against Ottawa dating to Feb. 13, 2013.

Why Bet on Pittsburgh?

Pittsburgh is on a puzzling six-game losing streak, falling 5-0 at a bad San Jose team on Saturday. Evander Kane had a goal and an assist, Martin Jones made 30 saves in his 24th career shutout and the San Jose Sharks sent the Penguins to their first six-game losing streak in eight years. The Pittsburgh Penguins have been shut out four times this season.

Sidney Crosby has one goal, no assists and a minus-8 rating during the team’s first six-game skid since the 2011-12 season. Pittsburgh has been outscored 24-8 with all the losses in regulation, falling from first place to third in the Metropolitan Division.

Justin Schultz has only one point in his last 23 games. Schultz had an assist Friday but was held off the scoresheet Saturday while going minus-four against the Sharks. Schultz has two goals and nine points in 41 games and is a minus-11. Kris Letang has one point and is minus-6 during the losing streak.

Winger Dominik Simon suffered an undisclosed injury in the third period and did not return. Simon was battling with Radim Simek for the puck when Simek rode him into the boards. He may have suffered a head injury but there was not an update after the game. Simon has seven goals and 22 points this season.

Simon and Patrick Marleau didn’t practice Monday. Simon probably sits Tuesday, while Marleau did not fly back with the Penguins after Saturday’s loss in San Jose. He stayed in town to help pack up his family and is flying with his family from Pittsburgh to San Jose.

Why Bet on Ottawa?

The Senators stink but have won back-to-back games. They beat an even worse Detroit team 4-3 in a shootout on Saturday. Artem Anisimov scored twice in regulation and added the shootout winner – that does not count as a hat trick. It was a career night for the 31-year-old, who had 10 shots on goal. He registered six goals in February, his best total for any month this season.

Scott Sabourin scored his second goal of the season in the loss. “He’s had some chances of late and it was nice for him to score that goal,” coach D.J. Smith. Sabourin missed 26 games due to a concussion and he has sat as a healthy scratch this season, while appearing in 30 games. He didn’t have a goal since Ottawa’s season opener back on Oct. 2.

Winger Anthony Duclair sat again with an ankle injury. Duclair hasn’t played since Feb. 24. He has 22 goals and 37 points in 62 games this season. Marcus Hogberg allowed three goals on 28 shots. Hogberg has picked up victories in back-to-back starts for the first time in his career. He improved to 5-7-8 with a 3.04 goals-against average and .909 save percentage.

However, Hogberg (personal) was absent from practice on Monday so Craig Anderson will be in the crease on Tuesday versus Pittsburgh. Anderson has lost his past two starts, including a 3-2 defeat against Nashville last Tuesday. He has a 9-15-2 record this year with a 3.21 goals-against average and .901 save percentage in 30 appearances. Filip Gustavsson is expected to be Anderson’s backup. He was called up Monday.

Team Stats

  • Goals: 3.19
  • Shots: 32
  • PP/PK Percentage: 20.32
  • Goals: 2.78
  • Shots: 29.81
  • PP/PK Percentage: 18.29

MyBookie’s software and lines are in line with other books, but they really stand out with the promotions. They are more frequent and offer better deals than their competitors. I’ll never go back to another book.
