What’s unusual about the Milwaukee at Toronto NBA game on Wednesday? It’s the only matchup on a fairly busy night where neither team is part of a back-to-back. The Bucks are solid favorites on the NBA odds with a couple of Raptors in doubt – that number may change. 2023 NBA Expert Analysis Milwaukee vs. Toronto | MyBookie Sportsbook NBA Regular Season: October 24, 2023, to April 14, 2024 | Week 4

This is the second of three regular-season meetings between the schools. On Nov. 1 also in Toronto, the Raptors were 130-111 upset winners. Pascal Siakam had 26 points, Dennis Schroder had 24 points and 11 assists, and Scottie Barnes scored 21 points and matched his season-best with 12 rebounds in the upset. The Raptors led by as many as 27 points. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored just 16 points and Damian Lillard had 15 for the Bucks. Toronto outscored Milwaukee 26-5 on fast-break points and 66-40 on points in the paint. The Raptors finished with 50 rebounds, while Milwaukee had 29. Antetokounmpo had as many made baskets (one) as fouls in the opening quarter.
Why Bet on Milwaukee?
The Bucks simply aren’t in sync yet but did end a two-game skid with a 118-109 win over Chicago on Monday. Giannis Antetokounmpo led all scorers with 35 points and had 11 rebounds. He scored 14 points in the fourth quarter on 5 of 8 shooting while making 4 of his 8 free throws.
“He was phenomenal the whole game and we needed him down the stretch and he kind of took things in his own hands,” Bucks head coach Adrian Griffin said. “We need someone to make the plays down the stretch. We got a little bit stagnant. We were kind of standing and watching, and we just gotta to keep executing, but he was able to put his head down and get to the rim and get to the free throw line and that’s what you need down the stretch.”
Antetokounmpo is listed as probable for Wednesday’s game against the Raptors due to right calf injury management. Over his past five games, Giannis is averaging 35.0 points and 10.8 rebounds while shooting 60.7% from the field.
Damian Lillard had just 12 points, in 32 minutes. Lillard returned to the court after missing the past two games due to a calf concern. While he was able to play 32 minutes, his production was far from his norm. He went 3-of-17 from the field, adding five assists. It’s been a slow start to Lillard’s time in Milwaukee.
Bobby Portis played 25 minutes in Monday’s win over the Bulls, tallying 19 points and 10 rebounds. With Lillard struggling, the Bucks needed others to step up alongside Antetokounmpo. Khris Middleton shot 6-of-10 from the field for 13 points in 19 minutes as he remains on a minutes cap. Middelton moved into fifth all-time in Bucks scoring history and is 36 points from passing Sidney Moncrief (11,594) for fourth.
Milwaukee will be without starting forward Jae Crowder for perhaps two months as he had surgery to repair “a left adductor and abdominal tear,” according to the team. Crowder exited the Bucks’ loss to the Orlando Magic on Saturday with what was initially called a left groin strain. Crowder has appeared in all nine games (two starts) and is averaging 8.1 points on 51.6% shooting from behind the three-point line in 26.7 minutes per game.
“Obviously it’s going to be hard not to have him,” Antetokounmpo said Monday night after the Bucks’ victory over the Chicago Bulls. “His presence is very important to the team. He’s extremely vocal, helps everybody be in the right position, encourages everybody, motivates everybody. At the same time he’s had a great start to the season spacing out the floor for us, being great defensively, making great plays offensively. So he’s definitely going to be missed.”

Why Bet on Toronto?
The Raptors played without two key players in starting forward OG Anunoby and top reserve guard Gary Trent Jr. on Monday and fell behind by 23 points at home to Washington but rallied for an 111-107 win. The comeback included a 16-point fourth quarter deficit marking the second largest fourth quarter comeback in franchise history. It was already the second time this season that the Raptors have come back from a 20+ point deficit having erased a 22-point deficit in San Antonio on Nov. 5, which also included a franchise record-tying 17-point fourth quarter comeback.
The Wizards coughed up 22 turnovers and the Raptors overcame a 4-of-19 night from three by winning the possession battle. They had little choice as Anunoby, who cut one of the fingers on his shooting hand doing “household chores” on Sunday, sat this one out, as did Trent Jr., who missed his second game with plantar fasciitis. The Raptors clearly missed them. Neither is likely for this one.
The Raptors limited the Wizards to a season-worst 16 points in the fourth quarter. Washington scored just one free throw in the final seven minutes and 25 seconds of the game resulting in a 22-to-1 run by Toronto. This included a 16-0 run, matching their largest scoring run to end a game. Toronto recorded a season-high 76 points in the paint outscoring the Wizards by 28 in that category (76-to-48). The Raptors are currently ranked seventh in the league in points in the paint (53.0) through 10 games this season.
Pascal Siakam was a one-man offense when Toronto needed him most, as he scored a season-high 39 points — 29 in the second half — while adding 11 rebounds and seven assists. Monday also marked Siakam’s tenth 30/10/5 game since 2021-22, joining Nikola Jokic (42), Giannis Antetokounmpo (39), Luka Doncic (37), Joel Embiid (27), LeBron James (13) and Jayson Tatum with 10-or-more such games.
Scottie Barnes contributed 19 points, nine rebounds, four assists and five steals. Barnes has undoubtedly taken a leap forward this season and has been Toronto’s best player so far. Barnes has scored 15+ points in eight of his 10 games this season averaging 20.1 points in that span He leads the Raptors in total points (201), total rebounds (97), total steals and blocks (18).
Toronto outscored Milwaukee in fast break points by 21 (26-to-5) in their first meeting of the season and the Raptors currently rank second in the NBA in fast break points (18.9).
