The UConn Huskies is a basketball powerhouse regardless of its position on the AP list and is considered one of the most successful programs in NCAA history. Plus, add in their passionate fan base – “The Nation” which carries significant weight and intensity that gives you a winning combination that will go far in deep March Madness and maybe another title, that’s a gamble in itself.

As far as rivalries go, Connecticut has more than one and each with its own unique dynamic within the basketball world. Historical rivals were members of the original Big East Conference: Syracuse Orange and Georgetown Hoyas. As for current Big East rivals they are Villanova Wildcats, Providence Friars, Creighton Bluejays and Xavier Musketeers. Another great rival of UCONN is Pittsburgh Panthers, a member of the ACC, which experienced great clashes in the 2000s.
